It gets credited to your exchange account, you can therefore immediatly exchange it for another crypto currency.
If you want the money in your bank account you have to withdraw it from the exchange.

When you sell BTC or ETH on an exchange (such as coinbase, kraken, bitstamp, bittrex etc) for USD does the USD get credited to your account on the exchange or credited back to your bank account?
It will credit to your bank account when you withdraw from exchanges.

Yes, it automatically goes to your exchange account and it will show to your balances. It won't be credited to your bank account automatically. That's a withdrawal option that you can choose if you want to take out your balance on exchanges.
