Yes, sometimes the only warning you get is 3+ years of reports of incompetence, hacking, fraud, accounts emptied multiple times, customer databases leaked, countless threads all over bitcointalk, combined with a complete lack of understanding about how bitcoin works. It is often difficult to see how giving your money to such a company for safekeeping can end up biting you.

sorry man, many of us saw this coming... tried warning everyone... once they stopped usd withdrawals, i paid the $100+ premium to get out.

you should have been on top of things and at least set up an account with bitcoinbuilders...

The writing was on the wall, we all knew Mt Gox was a shady.

too true and you never know when this kinda thing would strike . this is the world we live in . so much for a free economy we have to pay .

What was once the world's largest trading platform for bitcoins is now a blank page.
The Bitcoin-trading website Mt.Gox was taken offline late Monday, putting at risk millions of dollars put there by investors who gambled on the digital currency. The exchange also deleted all of its tweets, and Mt.Gox CEO Mark Karpeles resigned from the Bitcoin Foundation's board of directors on Sunday.
