@OcTradism and @Davidvictorson tBTC are Bitcoin on the Ethereum network and it is an ERC-20 token. I do not understand why the mods allowed an altcoin to still be on the Bitcoin thread. I guess the mods are not that educated to understand that no one needs BTC for testing in 2024. There was a time but it has long gone past and mods must understand where this world is going. I am going to report this topic and I am going to see where they move it.  ;D

Before you blame others, you should pay close attention by reading in more detail his (OP) post, including the address. So that there is no misunderstanding as above.

Here is an example of the address of TBTC through the Bitcoin Core application (testnet):

I use tBTC to test several transactions, such as for creating messages using OP_RETURN (https://mempool.space/testnet/tx/3150a9e1bbc2ea4711d57a3bdc5dfab4c2280d945999f7ecc10298893e8472d3), CoinJoin, Lightning Network and others.

I don't think so. How much will it cost to rent that hashrate, and for how much hashrate are we talking about? Testnet3 difficulty is really high right now, unless you wait difficulty to drop to 1. Maybe that's how? Even then, you need to have a clogged mempool, otherwise block subsidies are insufficient nowadays.

The average reward is killing the math for this, seems like somebody is spamming it so it's up to sometimes 2 per block, that's why it went below 8 cents, that would make it cheaper for mining than for buying but if you don't get a period of blocks you're down indeed x10,  plus I threw in 2$ for the tx, not realizing that even on altquick you can still deposit some altcoin like on nice hash.

Anyway, if you are not then to achieve getting this 10tBTC then the only way to get 10tBTC is to mine them solo
I was going to comment about the insufficient block subsidies, but then I hit mempool.space, and I saw 262 - 4,020 sat/vb in testnet3: https://mempool.space/testnet/mempool-block/0, so mining them still counts! Lol.  Grin

Quick math tells me it's easier to just rent some hashrate and mine it for 1h and that's it

How to make a fool of yourself in 3 lines while talking down to others, if anyone knows a better recipe for it, try to compete with this one!

It only takes a single Google search to figure out there exist such markets. Even though, I'd be discouraged from buying from any of those, but there exist. I do have a bunch of tBTC, but not 10. Why do you need so many? Can't you complete your tests with just 0.1?

They sell for like 10 cents for a tBTC, so if anyone wants to buy drop by altquick if it still works.
Quick math tells me it's easier to just rent some hashrate and mine it for 1h and that's it, as for the reasons, god knows, there are still faucet drainers and people begging for coins like there is no tomorrow, I won't accuse anyone directly but when demanding such sums for a test it's a bit suspicious.

Why need so much tBTC? If this is for testing purposes then the tBTC that you can claim from faucets even it's small should be enough unless you have other purposes

People giving out relatively huge amount of tbtc's should be doing a short interview at the very least. Normally, it has no value but there has also been an in demand buying and selling market for this e.g. it is listed in some exchange for trading. I'm not saying op is about to do this but more on pushing for a precautionary measure.

@OcTradism and @Davidvictorson tBTC are Bitcoin on the Ethereum network and it is an ERC-20 token.

The address is a valid testnet btc address. If it was token on ETH chain, it should start at 0x.

If this is for testing purposes then the tBTC that you can claim from faucets even it's small should be enough unless you have other purposes I saw many scammers on telegram offering 1 BTC once you fall to their trick you will be redirected to a testnet explorer and they said they send 1BTC but its tBTC. If you fall to this they will force you to pay for it.

Anyway, if you are not then to achieve getting this 10tBTC then the only way to get 10tBTC is to mine them solo if you have a GPU you can maybe be lucky to mine one block you can get around 1tBTC I don't know how many hours you need to spend to mine it but if you have ASIC USB stick it should be faster than mining with CPU/GPU.

Check these two guides below how to mine them

- [Guide] Solo mine testnet bitcoins with bfgminer, Bitcoin Core, and a CPU/GPU
- [Guide] Solo mine testnet bitcoins with cgminer, Bitcoin Core, and a Compac F

It seems you are confused about tBTC yes you are right but don't forget that we also have tBTC a testnet bitcoin that is why mods don't move this thread to the altcoin section.

Dear, TBTC you are talking about is a wrapped version of real BTC, which is based on Ethereum network. While the TBTC Op is talking about, its a testnet BTC based on BTC blockchain itself. You are little confused here, as Mods are educated enough, and even if the topic don't belong here, you have to give some time to mods, as within 24 hours (minimum within 12 hours) they move the topic to relevant board where it should be posted.

For your further information I am going to quote a paragraph which will give your more idea.
Testnet coins (TBTC) are separate and distinct from actual bitcoins (BTC), and do not have real value as an asset. They also should not be confused with "tBTC," a type of wrapped bitcoin for use on the ethereum network.
As you can see, in the market section of the TBTC listed on Coinmarketcap, you aforementioned, is being traded on Kraken which is not possible for a testnet BTC.

Speaking of why would people need TBTC, there are plenty of reasons, one is joining BTC related airdrops, dapps and other products based on BTC blockchain and to test them we need TBTC. I also needed TBTC and I had some faucets already shared by other member above. They are good ones. Although getting 10 TBTC is not an easy task.

What are you talking about? This tBTC has nothing to do with testnet. It's just another made-up ERC20 token that is supposedly backed by bitcoin.

Guys, I need 10 TBTC. Faucets don't give enough to cover transaction fees. Testing an app.
I'm not sure how long you plan to do these kinds of tests, but considering that v4 is around the corner, it might be better to just go with "Regtest" instead.
- Alternatively, there's also the option of utilizing "Signet" for those tests.

Testnet Bitcoin is not for selling and buying, it's here for free. You can claim testnet bitcoin from Testnet faucets.
