Announcing MyEtherWallet v3.24.00: Difficulty Bomb&Updating blockchain

Due to the complexity of the Bomb and the increased risk of hacking, we pushed a rather drastic update that implements a number of changes and improvements, including enhancement of efficiency and scalability of the blockchain, acceleration of transaction speed, and additional security in the form new formats private keys which will help protect users against hacking.
If you are using private key or UTC, then you need to go into the wallet and update manually, otherwise they risk being unprotected.

How do i update my Ethereum wallet?

1. Go to our website MyEtherWallet.com
2. Unlock your wallet using your Keystore File (UTC / JSON) or simply use your private key.
3. Click Unlock and wait for the update.

Please note that you need to manually update your wallet, failure to do so may result in funds being lost.

We are taking these measures to protect both you and our network from phishing and malicious attacks.

Thank you for your cooperation and understanding!
MyEtherWallet Security Team.

If you use other methods, then ignore this message.

Hi I'm completely new at this. I want to get some consulting on how to set up my own miner. Can you please help?

Sure I will help you  out.

1) power cost is really important :
under 6 cent you should make money
 7 to 10 iffy
over 10 cent you will lose money

this is per kwatt

2) how much power do you have to spare?
a stat of the art miner  like the s-9 spends 1.3 to 1.4 kwatts an hour  that is around 1008 kwatts a month at 10 cent $100.80  a month to run

3) how loud can you stand the s-9 is over 70db and can whine real nasty.

4) how to you plan to cool your gear 1400 watts is about 5000 btu.

I have 6 units  5 s-9's and 1 s-7  they use  around 7300 watts the fans use about 300 watts

so 7600 watts to mine with  68th.

this would cost you close to 10000 usd to set up

this is more then most mine with  and I hope to net get back 15000 for my 10000 over the next 8 months

Awesome setup. I wish I had the funds to support bitcoin with an operation like that which would also net me some bitcoin too.

Well we split coins and I pay no power cost. But I purchased all the mining gear.

So 5 miners cost me quite a bit.

But they are doing 56 th and 28th is mine this month it should earn .94 btc or about 600 usd.
Last month 700 usd month before that was more like 1000 and month before that was 700 as I had only some of the month.
So as of now around 3000.   Price of gear was about 8000.  So I have 5000 to break even.
If I sold them today I would get about 6500. Which would mean I am up about 1500 on a 8000 dollar investment if I liquidate today. Time span would be June 14 to October 1 for that calculation.

Can you help me out a bit on the math here? I'm just starting to look into mining. You have 5 S9's and an S7, are they working ok? It seems like 68TH/s is correct but if you are only doing 56TH/s is there a problem? Also you mentioned $8k, did you get a special deal on the S9's? Did you have an S7 previously?

If I stick this in a mining calculator as $8000-$2400 for your cost then at 3% difficulty increase you will recover your cost and make $12.6k ($6.3k each) at the end of 2019. At 5% difficulty increase (the next difficulty increase is 7.75% so I am just sticking 5% in as an average), you will make $6.3k ($3.6k) at end of 2019. I've attached the screenshots, let me know if I have made any mistakes.

As you are in with your friend, I assume if you sell the miners you would split the sale or what would he do with the solar setup if there was no mining?

Thanks for providing some light on the details of setting things up!

If you don't want to purchase physical miners, you can try cloud mining online without setting up anything.

The solar setup looks amazing.

I use hydropower and know little about solar so plz excuse me if my questions strike you as noobie as I am.
1. How reliable is your power supply? Does supply drop or do you have backup in case of an extended period of bad weather when there is not enough sunlight?
2. I would imagine that the initial investment for such a setup is going to be higher than working with a hydropower station that is already up and running - you seem to suggest that someone else built the solar generator, so you didn't contribute anything to it, correct?

Thanks.

Unless you have seriously low energy costs and a shit load of money to through at mining then i would say you are prob better of just buying bitcoin and holding it...... Shocked

I was thinking the same thing. plus in the setup above, I would worry about dust and such

If you already have a mining tool then the next step is you need to figure out a way to have the special tool to put mining and also with cold temperatures. because performance does not stop mining tools (always works) and after that you can find materials about mining in Youtube or in various articles on the internet

Try to look some more information in net Cheesy

Yeah, surfing the net is the most convenient way to learn unfamiliar things such as mining. But, you need to filter it because not all information in the net is reliable. Some will make your profit smaller. So, try to compare and see what's effective and stick to it.
Yes, it happen also to me. When I use Google, Yahoo or Bing it can make me confused. Maybe you can share the blog that special get the consultation about this setting?

I purchased 5 s-9s   for 10 k.  the set up you see is a solar farm.  I partnered with buysolar:

 here is the thread.

https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/solar-array-starting-to-look-good-1369207

Our deal is I do the mining gear he does the build and the solar power.

So I have almost no risks for power and building.  He has almost no risk for gear.

we split the coins we mine.

Hi I'm completely new at this. I want to get some consulting on how to set up my own miner. Can you please help?

The miner set up is a crucial thing. Before you ask you must first identify what kind of miner are you using, what are your equipment s and its capacity and what are you going to mine. Well since I don't know what kind of miner you have I am guessing that you only have a bitmain antminer. Since my miner friends are hard to contact I recommend you to watch tutorial videos on you tube and search help on Google

If you havent bought a miner yet then i would seriously do some research. you wont make much of a return in investment in mining bitcoin but if you decide you do want to mine then you might considor mining alt coins. theres more money to be made unless you setup an industrial farm.
