If your hard drive was big enough, there's a small chance that the bitcoins can still be recovered. Stop using that hard drive immediately, and try this:

And this is why you test new things *slowly* with small slivers of your funds.

Hell for $200 I would have gladly taught you how to do it securely.

your information from 1st post shows that you formated your hdd

and if you didnt backup your wallet.dat from dir described in bitcoin faq

Quote
Windows

Go to Start -> Run (or press WinKey+R) and run this:

explorer %APPDATA%\BitCoin

BitCoin's data folder will open. For most users, this is the following locations:

C:\Documents and Settings\YourUserName\Application data\BitCoin (XP)

C:\Users\YourUserName\Appdata\Roaming\BitCoin (Vista and 7)

"AppData" and "Application data" are hidden by default.

than you will never have that money again  Cry

the adresses are related to your bitcoin wallet

and wallet is the only thing that matters, not bitcoin executable

I dont think i have the wallet for my old address? Where is it located? If i dont have the wallet did i just send all my BTC to an address that doesnt exist?

So i wanted to trade in my BTC for a gift card, so i withdrew all my coins to my receiving adress. Then i open up bitcoin.exe and it shows that my address for receiving coins is completely different, i researched it a little and found out that it changes and that i should be able to see my old address in my receiving address list. Well i formatted my computer a month ago, but im still using the same .exe as before, and now when i check my receiving address list my old address (that i use with bitcoin market and deepbit) isnt even in teh list, did i just loose all of my BTC or is there a way to access my old address?
