Conspiracy theories, just what bitcointalk needs. It was just a server issue that is fixed
There was a problem on the server causing this. I fixed it.
If you have "theories" at least back them with some sensible proof and not pure speculation

So apparently someone DDoSed bitcointalk, any idea or speculation about where the attack came from?

I saw some rumors from reddit and most of those tend to center around the fact that Roger Ver saw this as a chance to promote his own forum while bitcointalk was inaccessible. Proof: https://archive.is/5nGUv

Could this be a coincidence? Do you think that Roger paid to DDoS bitcointalk in order to drive traffic to his new venture?  
I don't know, but I got a 502 bad gateway error for a few hours.
It is pretty annoying that this happens..

theymos said that there was a problem with the server (already fixed). so it might be unrelated to DDoS.
I could be wrong though.
