all you have to do to get started on this forum is to read what you need. Search for the thread that you want to study. If you want to learn trading you have a discussion in a trading thread. First determine your purpose for being in this forum. there will be no time wasted on studying. Learning takes a long time. I've even been in this forum for years.

Be a good forum member who gives opinions to others, makes quality posts and is not just a member who just disappears from the forum.

Determining which one is suitable for you depends on your interests and goals in this forum.

You are under no obligation what so ever by the forum. Its a free to choose what way to follow kind of platform where within the community, you stand as a unique individual. Free to express yourself as you please so long as, it doesn't contradict the forum rules or harm another user in anyway.

I wonder how many persons would have been here should the forum have obligated users in a way to meet up some certain tasks! I don't even trust myself if I could have been here even, lol.

Anyway, your best guide is to read the rules and do your best in keeping to it else, a ban is inevitable and it pays to be active.

the forum is created for discussions exchanging of information, you don't need to create a topic, you can interact with the current topic and express your opinion, and what you know, regarding the topic, if you want to create a topic create something that is never created because it will be useless if there is an existing one, you can also create a topic if you want to know something, don't stress yourself, relax a bit.

Obligations sounds harsh for a newbie. Maybe you can enjoy your stay here and those words isn't necessary but take it as a challenge to learn fast by reading useful topics here about crypto and bitcoin.

Creating topics that you wanted to have a trend here, means doing a post that are very catchy to users or gian their interest. You can do it if you could incorporate some good ideas and knowledge about the forum and blockchain. Goodluck on your journey.

Are you wanting to start something trend there's nothing impossible today because through the Internet it's easier to create popularity but here in our forum I think it's better to create some topic first before getting noticed by another member also good if you want to read our rules and regulation to prevent getting a warning or banned by the forum because if different cases.

You can share your thoughts, knowledge, and experience here don't hesitate but again we prohibit copy-pasting the content of other people.

Online forum is no different in the practical reality of a forum in the real world, in fact I have attended offline forums where I have simply been present, I enjoy the environment, I learn what is said and if I have nothing good to contribute, I do not raise my hand to ask to speak.

In this it is the same, behave in the forum based on what you know and what you don't, also dare to ask when you want, no matter how off-topic it is, it is part of the process, although surely many put this condition as priority, I agree, the detail is that he learns to be on topic most of the time.

Do not worry about fitting in, the daily rhythm of reading and participation takes you to your destination It only depends on you.

I love reading, but I haven't gotten any area yet to develop more on. I read general topics. Am considering investing in crypto knowledge my quest brought me here having been introduced to me by a friend and colleague but am yet to figure out how to explore the forum

It's best you should go with the flow. Sometimes it can be hard to find where to contribute especially as a beginner. Even prominent members pass through this too.

So, it's best not to create threads or comment if you don't have the right informations on the topic. Also while you are at it, remember to keep the forum rules and regulations which I believe is your first step as newbie in the forum: https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/unofficial-list-of-official-bitcointalkorg-rules-guidelines-faq-703657

As a beginner I want to really understand what am in for so I can consider if it really worth my time.
You're the one who can answer and know what you really want to know and what's worth your time reading and discussing.

Then start to know about the market. You can start with bitcoin on speculation and learn some analysis and thoughts of traders there. There's also the Trading discussion and Altcoin Discussion to follow.

If you know that good posts are valued on the forum, then you already understood something. But starting a conversation by creating a lot of topics is not at all necessary. Now you need to decide why you need a forum? Do you need earnings, ranks, or do you still need knowledge about cryptocurrencies, as well as investing and making a profit? It's good that you value your time, but be that as it may, to understand what is more interesting to you, you still have to allocate some time. As it was said here, ask more. If you learn how to use search, the forum will be a great store of knowledge for you. Well, if you do not find answers to the existing topics, feel free to create your own and ask.

Being new to the forum you will read more than posting yourself, and by reading we all learn.

Almost everything to do with Bitcoin and Crypto ends up here on the forum, use the search
facility but if in doubt, just ask.

You have no obligations other than follow the rules of the forum. No need to create threads
and trends, get used to the forum and Bitcoin and how they work first.

Oh, and welcome!

Am considering investing in crypto...
As a newcomer, you'd be better of investing only in Bitcoin, and not crypto (from the general perspective) like you said (which is both Btc and altcoins), cause you'll more likely run into trouble investing in altcoins without having sufficient crypto knowledge or carrying out an adequate research as most of them are pump and dump/shitcoins.

Having said that, I'd also hope you're not under the influence of FOMO as a result of the BTC bull run, and that's why you want to invest? You should know there are still risk concerns with BTC, always "invest what you can afford to lose", don't tell people about you hodl Bitcoin, use only wallets that you have the private keys to, and don't join the network cause you want to "get rich quick", many new adopters are here for this and often end up losing their funds to scammers.

I love reading,
Great if you have the intention and hobby to read, it is a sign that someone wants to know more what they want, especially about forums and Bitcoin.

Just as we were at the beginning to explore this forum, many things we have to learn and read, persistence, the desire to know can automatically lead you to the bright spots what to do in this forum.

Of the 100% guide for those who just came here, I will give a little guide 20% of what you should read first.

Below can show or add to your knowledge what you have to do.

After joining the Bitcointalk forum, a Beginner faces many problems. In order to solve those problems, forum members have created different types of [GUIDE] at different times. And those [GUIDE] are slowly getting lost due to not updating or bumping regularly. So I tried to collect some important [GUIDE] on the same page. I was inspired to create this thread after viewing this thread of OcTradism.
Topic: Some important bitcointalk [GUIDE] for beginners.

Topic: Comprehensive guide to Bitcointalk. Newbie friendly + calculator and infographic

Hopefully this can be your main reference in this forum, if you need other information just ask in this thread.

Is there any laid down guidelines with regards to posting lastly is there a criteria for judging the quality of a post.
If you don't force yourself to make posts and only posts if you have constructive opinion to join discussions, quality of your post will be higher than what it has if you spam.

1. No zero or low value, pointless or uninteresting posts or threads. [1][e]

2. No off-topic posts.

3. No trolling.

23. When deciding if a user has broken the rules, the staff have the right to follow their interpretation of the rules.[e]

32. Posting multiple posts in a row (excluding bumps and reserved posts by the thread starter) is not allowed.

33. Posting plagiarized content is not allowed.[e]

Examples:

1. Such posts as "SELL SELL SELL", "I agree", "+1", "Support", "Watching", "Interesting", "LOL", "SCAM", "LEGIT", "FAKE", other one word posts, posts consisting mostly of swearing, quote pyramids, useless introduction threads, threads about a topic already recently discussed in several other threads.

Please outside reading on crypto matters and creating trends what else is my obligations on the forum.

You are not obliged to create trends, or thread if that's what you really meant.

Some guidelines:

1. Free speech - you can say anything as long as it is relevant and presented in a calm and polite manner. Swearing, SHOUTING etc. make your post more likely to be removed.
2. No zero value posts or threads, like "SELL SELL SELL"
3. No pointless or uninteresting threads.
4. No referral code spam
5. No NSFW content

In other words, avoid posting if you think your post is not contributing anything new or relevant to the discussion. You may ask related questions, though. That's encouraged. But take note that more often questions are repeatedly asked simply because people are lazy to read.

How do I begin a trend and what should likely be the content. As a beginner I want to really understand what am in for so I can consider if it really worth my time.

Again, you don't need to create a thread. As a beginner, the best and most productive thing to do is to explore the forum. You will know from it if this is worth your precious time.

Sooner or later, you will find something that interests you more than the rest.

Welcome to the forum, Alisha-k!

What's your intention for being here in the first place that you necessarily need to "fit in"? If you're here for the knowledge, then you simply read the topics and replies made by other users here, and just ask questions if there are some things you don't understand(and that Google can't answer).
