These coins are the typical scenario of the pump and jump. The prices are manipulated by the pump. This happen because these coins have a small capital Therefore, newbies fall for it most of the time.

They are dependent on the amount of money that is being traded with the coins. If the amount of money that is being put into the coin goes up then the price of the coin does go up accordingly. That is where the jumps come from. From the amount that people are pumping into the coin or dumping out of it.

Usually the value comes from you, the investors who pump some new money into it. and deflation comes when you, the investors cash out

Don't they go from the investment? I think that there should be the connection between these two characteristics. Common value of altcoins is increasing now.

No, that's not really a bad example. I think market manipulation is making all this happen. Like the pump and dump, these are the doings of market manipulation to attract people , to get people into it through FOMO.

I think that they are connected with alternative cryptocurrencies' investments here. Maybe altcoins have another reason as well, but I support investing.

If it is really a small capped altcoin, the 100% jumps are most often caused by pump & dumpers, i.e. scammers.
A surge can also be caused by a positive news or some development delivered by the team.

As far as i know so many coins are pumped for the manipulation. It’s a common scenario of the market. So if you want to make profit you need to aware where the pump will be.

Fake volume with no trading activity at all the token doesn't have any buy and sell walls from their trading exchange with just a flick of a whale or a group of pumping signals they can easily drive the orders up, the price will surely cause some uproars and increases with a positive gain in percentage with ease because they have a small percentage volume that can easily be manipulated by certain individuals hence can create fomo.

Many times, most volumes are fake and is the work of bots. sometimes again is not bot nut when people are rushing to acquire a certain token in order to join the the price trend. at such times, values are created as many here are for the money not the tech behind such projects. just watch out for real volumes

Great analysis yes I agree with you as we witnessed this last year when the value of ripple shoot up by leaps and bounce because people were investing in ripple just for return on investment even though they knew ripple is not fully decentralized.

Often coinage and discs deliver unnaturally up push the cost. This is a besides banal incident. The small the capitalisation of the coin, the easier it is to impression. Do not reward advice to it, being delineating tariff you condition to discriminate in progression where the deliver will be.

Firstly, I will advice you not to invest or buy any altcoin base on how good the coin is doing presently because we have saw a situation where coin is doing well in the market and in a blink of eye the coin lost value and later vaporise till date.
Therefore, I will advice you to make research about the concept of new coins and how experienced the team are before buying or investing.

Don't follow the crowd.

Most of the time price increased artificially. It is a common scenario. You shouldn’t give attention to these. If you want a good earning then research and gather experience. You need to know in advance where the pump will be.

I have been messing around in bittrix for a few days now experimenting with day/swing trading for the first time. I understand how new information coming out can greatly effect prices via news articles and even tweets sometimes. What im having trouble understanding is coins that seem like they're doing nothing in the market for days/weeks/months will then jump up in value 20,30 or 40% without to my knowledge any news coming out or external reason for the jump in price.

I see this is all sorts of coins but for example adtoken (ADT) last Monday (July 23) had that big jump up in price. Now today very recently has had a small jump up. I'm still new to this and have a lot to learn but any tips or advice on this topic will go a long way.

Edit: i have since learned adt was added to Upbit last monday and hence the jump in price. ( i guess it was a bad example)
it is possibl that the price xan go up, so i think you should analuse what altcoin will go higner and invest in tj

The reason why there are these jumps in value is already mentioned in your post:

There is no activity for days and weeks.

When there is no price movement, it is almost always due to low, but stable trading volume.
This causes the buys/sell orders to have a much wider spread.
As it gets wider, it is much easier for even just one person to plow through all the orders himself.
This can make the price rise or drop dramatically.

This spike then brings more attention to it and more and more people start throwing in buy/sell orders and volume builds up along with the momentum.
Stuff like this can happen fast as there are a lot of people who use bots who specifically target coins that have spikes in volume.
A lot of profit can be made in micro trades on a coin that is rising in trading volume.

The prices are often manipulated by news. Both false and true news can manipulate. There are also pump and dump for manipulating the price. Often whales invest a big amount of money and it causes price growth.

Pump and dump, huge investments, positive or negative news, etc can cause these kinds of price change in alt coins. If you notice a huge growth in price, then i think you can be almost sure that there is some news behind it.

There can be several reasons behind the jumps and falls of price. Most of the time the prices get increased and decreased for pump and dump. It is a kind of manipulation which leads the price changes in cryptocurrency most of the time.

Tokens and coins often raise the price artificially. This is very common in crypto market. You need to analyze the market a bit.

The market is volatile so it is very natural for the coins to see pump in the price and sudden drops too. But, having major pump does have connection to people spreading good news, company announcing new partnership deals, renowned crypto enthusiast tweeting something good about the particular coins. Sudden drops are also related to incidents like FUD and manipulation.

According to me, the main reasons behind such fluctuations should be news spreading out too quickly on these coins. Good and bad news affects the coins in similar ways. Moreover, there are many people who manipulate the market either by holding too much coins or by FUD. Higher fluctuations usually indicates major changes in organization or increasing ease of trading/exchange.

If you have seen these types of jumps recently I would have to agree with everyone else and say it's a pump and dump scheme.  Coins will pump on solid news.  They will also pump when new money enters the market.

Yeah I agree with you and also to mention that some times a group of specialized traders pay some influencers to say some good things about a particular like we have seen with john Macfee in his past tweets

a lot of things can make a coin to jump high in price, it could be that a dump and dump group, pump the coin, or that it is listed on a new exchanges, or there are a news about the coin, something normally makes the coin to go high.

It seems to me that the greatest growth of a coin occurs when a coin goes to large and popular exchanges, it always contributes to growth. In some cases this may be an ordinary pump!

Low volume alts are easy to manipulate. Even a small pull or single microwhale can manipulate it for his benefit. There is also a psychology - if people see an asset growing they are starting to buy it. So there is nothing mysterious about it.

I will advice you to study cryptocurrency more. there are so many factors that are responsible for increase and decrease in value of crypto asset. firstly in trading we have to type of order. the sell and buy order. increase in value of any altcoin is an indication of high buying volume of such altcoin which some generally refers to as pump but when altcoin are massively sold (popularly called dump) the price of the coin will fall and this is exactly what you are witnessing. that altcoin was pumped and later dumped by traders.

are you reffering with USD value or BTC?

if you refer with USD value it is normal go up once BTC went up.

but if BTC price of the token went well then there is a good partnership or update with your holdings.

if not then there must be a good demand then.

This market is quite new and still not very liquid. Here you do not need a lot of money to raise the price of some ordinary altcoin. In addition, I'm sure that many manipulators own insider information, thanks to which they start buying a coin earlier, and when the news comes out, they are already selling it

Mostly all the altcoins are backed by some project. When the company releases some new update or the coin gets listed on some exchange, price increases because the demand increases. That's why it is important for a coin to be backed by some working project to keep its demand running which will give it a future value. You will see a pump in a coin if there is some mainnet release, exchange listing, app release etc etc.

Normally the price rise suddenly is because of some good news such as listing in exchanges, coin burn and etc. Sometimes, it can be due to some pump and dump activities. It is good that you check around for the reason than buying with the flow.

Normally these jumps in value come as a result of some of the pump and dump groups that are existing, I have seen it in action, I have been in some pump and dump group, they will call out a coin, you will watch the coin, go up to about 1000% then it will start dumping again, So most of the price jump is pump and dump group.

It's not possible for you to catch on all the coin news, most times those coins that will make a major jump could be a pump and dump group, they might decide to pump a particular coin and once pump, it will jump so high before they will start dumping, so do the ones you can.

There are several reasons behind price fluctuating like that, most of the times its manipulation or fomo spread from the community and sometimes, there are reasons like organization signing a deal, merging with other partners to come up with new technologies and inventions.

Aside from whales, new investors can also hype the value of certain coins, if there's an ongoing updates and the target progress has been delivered, the coin value will rise a little then investors needs to wait if that will continue or another bagholders will play and dumped with his holdings, inside crypto
a lots of influenced can be the reason how project increase its value we need to take a lots of time to learned the skills of finding good news.

I think what you witnessing is called pump-and-dump scheme. If you are not aware, those so called groups will choose a coin that they will suddenly pump as hard as they can, they can even pumped more than a 100% but then they will dump it and take home the profits. Yeah, probably listing a new coin in a exchange also contributed to the price jump. I also advice you to read this article: https://cryptobriefing.com/how-to-spot-a-pump-and-dump-avoid/

It is difficult to predict the future. I think the price jumping is only the trend, When there is a lot of demand in the market and there is no supply. I think more studies should be done. The best knowledge about the market is that it is possible to do good business.

"I feel most people will be dumping BCC right after they get it for the actual
bitcoin so the price will dip so fast that it will be hard to be one of the first to
sell it for a good price.I see that the best way to profit from this is to actually
buy the coins that everyone is dropping at crazy cheap prices and wait for
everyone to get their BCC and buy back the altcoins. After everyone is happy
with their BCC they will redirect their attention back to the altcoin market and
prices will rise once again. The profit from the jump in price on the altcoins can
be much greater then getting BCC and selling it."

If you see a sudden change of the price either going up or down you can be damn sure that there is some sort of whale group behind it trying to affect the price because only whales have enough power to change the price of something so quickly, however there are people who panic sell or panic buy that also has an affect and that just keeps the run going for a little longer.

Whales knows this so they put up some of their own money to drop the price (or increase it) and than watch people do their jobs by following their directions. We should not be stupid enough to actually reach to markets ups and downs that quickly. Just keep on watching when something happens and not react like selling or buying (well you can buy, I wouldn't mind). These swings has been a part of bitcoin for 10 years now, we need to get used to it by now but there is always new people who react too quickly on market swings.

As my perception getting manipulated by whales make the coins increase in price. Because of FOFO this sudden spiking up of coins could also be possible too. So this incident is unpredictable

This is a so common trait that often coins get pumped up it is quite artificial. May be coins get manipulated or they get added to new bigger exchange what makes them rise in price suddenly.

Most of these coins are just pumped up by manipulation.  These are just quick pump and dump schemes to get fools to FOMO and buy in.

Mostly because of the manipulation but sometimes it's because of those signal groups. If you haven't joined those signal groups they always have schedule of what time they'll make hype in exchanges and what coin will they pump. So more likely, you'll experience this quick jump when you do day trading.

Prices sometimes rise by FoMO from the community.
Also if the project is worthy of attention, they have good news (just signed a new contract with a partner ...), this will make the community pay attention to their tokens and promote purchasing power ...
Also, the price increase can be manipulated by whales.

Often coins and tokens pump artificially raise the price. This is a very common phenomenon. The smaller the capitalization of the coin, the easier it is to stamp. Do not pay attention to it, because for earnings you need to know in advance where the pump will be.

I don't think that's a bad example.  I think one of the most frequent and repeatable trends is a pump when the coin gets added to a new larger exchange, so if you see a coin in big 2-digit or 3-digit % gains, that could very well be it.  Or, some coins are thinly traded and a small volume can make a big difference...not necessarily good coins to go into, but could be behind larger jumps.  I think the launch of testnets and certainly mainnets are another scenario large jumps normally occur.  Outside of that stuff, you have news releases that strengthen the coins use case, an endorsement/investment by a person or company, or a whale that decided to buy into the sell orders...all that could trigger FOMO.  Lots of different reasons that a coin could spike, and they can be difficult to predict.

For every rise above 10% there's got to be some news whether be it public or not.
In case of small cap coins, a series of buying from a whale can have a huge rise in price.
And for larger cap coins, huge whales like hedge funds or investment companies buying can make a difference.
