On air on a helicopter its is the safest  Smiley

On land - land may crack open and swallow you up, hazards from falling objects like trees, pole and buildings and tsunami is also possible if you are near the sea

I think I'll go with very far away.  If that's not an option, then in a sturdy building under some sturdy furniture.  I've heard that you want to hold on to something sturdy, too, or else you can get thrown around a lot if the earthquake is strong enough.

In air?

That's a pretty bad place to be actually if your plane is about to land or has to divert farther away.  If you're flying over the area at 36K feet yeah it fine.  Landing on a cracked runway = death  Shocked

On the mountain or out in the open ground away from a bodies of water, because of possible tsunami. I already experience a 8+ intensity earthquake and was not fun. The aftershocks were really shit, because it was almost every hour many were above intensity 6 and we have to run outside even in the middle of the night for 3 months!

Out in the open. On a wide meadow maybe. Where I'd fall soft and nothing could fall down on me.

As far as possible I guess Smiley
If in the house I heard that under the table is the safest place if no time to run out.
Any way, it's the best not to come to this situation.

The slightly raised shelf that kept the quarters from falling

That's how it's done!

I always though underground is the best?

That might be bad idea, cause i'm not sure that it would be safe, but i can't stop imagining myself on a big mountain.

I want to be the hell away from the hospital I work at because I know that place is coming down hard.  Last 5.7 earthquake we had in 1987 separated the hospital between the 2 wards by 6 inches.  A 6.5+ will bring parts if not all of it down - don't feel like being a patient.

I would not like to be near a nuclear or hydroeletric power generator plant. I would not like to be present in another Fukusima or in a local Noe flooding, but without any ship.
