There is no auto log out feature presented in the setting, oneself need to specify how long ye want to stay before ye log in.
Whereas thee can use the incognito mode, whenever thee close the browser it is automatically log out.

Thou shall also click ctrl+h in chrome or mozilla and clear everything they just don't have the same gui.

it's so stupid to sound intelligent

I don't have an account logged in, but I'm sure that's not a factor. You could try logging it out, but you'd be wasting your time. It's likely just a weird setting. Chrome has a feature that sets everything back to default, so you could try to use that.

Also, I'm quite sure Google links your account with your browsing history, so it might be a better idea to not have an account logged in on your browser.

I wouldn't normally go back and forth in someone's thread, but this is relevant to the auto-logoff feature so I figure it could be helpful to not only myself, potentially OP if they're a Chrome user as well. I ended up logging out to give it a try, which made me lose all my bookmarks, but now the "Stay logged in forever" and "Stay logged in for X minutes" both seem to be working. So in conclusion, being signed into a profile/account through the Chrome browser disables these features and will require you to re-login each time you open the browser.

I don't normally use Chrome, but I tested mine and the feature worked fine. This is my version:

Version 64.0.3282.186 (Official Build) (64-bit)

This might be a stupid question, but could you possibly be using Incognito?

That's not a stupid question at all, because if I were using incognito I would assume that would be the reason why. I am not using incognito, but I am signed into my google account through the browser. I'm wondering if this is potentially interfering with the feature? Are you signed into your browser with your google account? We seem to be running the same version, so I can't imagine that being the issue, unless I have a setting that's odd.

So, this is to say that some browsers don't work so well with this feature, plus I have never had it actually log me out; I might be the odd one out or maybe Chrome doesn't work so hot with this feature.

I have trouble all of the time with Chrome where the "Stay logged in forever" or the "Minutes to stay logged in". It simply logs me off every time I close Chrome and I do not have any settings that automatically clear the cache, delete user names and even my IP remains the same when this happens.
