is that site is safe to old my ethereums ?
https://www.myetherwallet.com/

I think myetherwallet is safe to hold your ethereum. Most people believe myetherwallet. They provide us private key.But there are so many fishing sites. You need to check the website before logging into myetherwallet and don't share your private key any one. Then myetherwallet is safe

So far, www.myetherwallet.com was a good one to use. As long as you have  the private key and password, I think everything will be fine even you try to import it in another location wallet of ethereum. Just make sure you're the only one knows about the private key in your MEW.
Good luck Wink

The safest wallet is the wallet on your PC but it is very inconvenient, takes a lot of space and is inferior in many respects to the exchange accounts. Especially in order to cash out or exchange your coins you will have to use the services of the exchange.

They serve different purposes though. Exchanges, as the name indicates, are meant for that. While wallets are meant to keep your money stored and safe. If you plan on trading or switching back and forth between different coins, keep it on an exchange, but know that you're accepting the higher risk that comes with the liquidity of your coins.

In other words... store what you plan on holding long term, trade with whatever is left Tongue

Yes, but it is an online site, so it will never be safer than a computer wallet.

Might be an ok option if your wallet shows some bug or if you are in a hurry and don't want to wait the sync process, but I would avoid to use it as wallet.

Don't know if would be suitable for the ICO's that poop up everywhere these days

Myetherwallet is good and you hold the private key, means if they shut down, you can import it to another eth wallet and access your wallet there. The only downside is there are a lot of phising website lately using similiar name to myetherwallet. If you're not focus then you can lose your money if you use your private key in the wrong site.

Looks safe to me, has SSL, and nothing bad came up when searching for it. However, there seems to be a phishing site that ends in .info. Be aware of that so you don't mess up. Always keep an eye at the link.

if this site shut down i can restore my ethereum in other software (which one?)
If this site would shut down, you can use any ethereum or multiwallet that supports also tokens (if needed) and that makes it possible to import private keys like exodus or coinomi for example.

I have never used that particular website which you have mentioned here but I have used coinbase for my bitcoin as well as ETH holdings from a long time now. I always keep a floating balance of bitcoin in my coinbase account for my quick trading transfers and also I have started investing in ETH recently, so I have chosen coinbase for my ETH as well.

I certainly can vouch for coinbase because they are time tested and lot of people are entrusting their money with them. Just check their FAQ and I think you can also open one account with them to entrust your ETH holding.

Also using Coinbase for a few months and vouch for it.

I recently started using Jaxx (which also works with myetherwallet) i really like it, it has a simple interface and works fine.

The site is safe to use because it's just a middle man to your wallet. You still own the coins Because you control the key. That's why people use myetherwallet . You can inoortant that key into any other wallet and it will work. So as long as you have your private key you good to go anywhere. Never use a wallet where you don't own the private key or your coins are not actually owned by you.

As far as I know https://www.myetherwallet.com/ is one of the safest eth wallets i have used and you get a backup of both a private key and encrypted Keystore File(json file) so your $2000 worth of crypto coins should be safe and remember we are responsible for our own security, avoid clicking links that could compromise your wallets.

Correct. It will asked you to created a password, your private key, and a Keystore. Just be sure to have a backup of it. I think you can go offline before creating a Ethereum wallet, so I think it will be safe. You can even generate just one password for multiple wallets. Remember, they are not web wallets. You do not create give them your Etheruem because you have control of the private keys. And all information that you have created are stored on your laptop or PC, it is not stored on their servers. Then they give you a place where you can access that information and do stuff with it. Like depositing your funds to a trading platform. So we have the responsibility to protect it not them.

The best way to do this is just use Ethereums software wallets or try those hardware wallets (I think ledger and trezor does have an ethereum wallet built in, though I am not sure). Or your next best friend would be the exchanges like poloniex, bittrex and others. If you directly want to deposit $2,000 in fiat then you would have to find a way to buy ethereum and that would be through exchanges.

That's the trusted way to keep your ethereum in much secure manner. They don't have control over your wallet, so everything will be on your hands and depending is the security. If you've lost some phrases they cannot help you with remaining the account and the assets held in it.

That's something I don't know to be honest, I would guess that even if that happens, if that wallet provides you with the private keys, you will be safe, you could import them and nothing bad would happen, but I don't think it's likely to shut down, it's not an exchange or something. Wait for more replies too, since I am not any close to adept regarding that.
