Maybe you can analyze utrust, because if you see their road map, the product will run in next year. Now utrust is already listed in kucoin and already past ico price. If in next year utrust will be listed in the popular exchange, then the price will increase again. I'm sure utrust is potentially good for long-term investments.

one thing I forgot to mention is that am looking for coins which are dirt cheap now. There is no use of buying ETH or LTC at the moment since they are too expensive at the moment. So, in this context if there are any coins which have good projects and have a real-life use and not just used for speculation, please let me know so I can continue my research :-)

You may going to fool by your thought. I think ethereum value will be touched around the 1500 USD in the end of 2018 and LTC also gives best competition to the other crypto currencies. We have to invest on ethereum and litecoin for long time.
As we seen the growth in the bitcoin, we will find the better growth in these crytos than other coins. Other than eth and ltc you will see the decent bump on BCH, DASH, Dodge and Neo.

In my opinion, so many coin out there has the potential for long term investment; it all depends on your ability take long term investment risk. Litcoin ,Etherum ,monero etc has what it takes to improve investors portfolio in the future.

I only have Monetha and NEO. I don't recommend NEO, but Monetha is a great investment  Smiley

Yes Ripple is good coin but for very very long terms only. If you thinking of getting quick money then this trade is not for you but if you looking for the futuristic opportunity then yes you can always choose the ripple as first choice. Its autonomous coin according to me, where the coin runs on blockchain but also bound with centralisation rules. So its kind of tricky coin and the prices doesn't depend upon the investors and how many investments but it depends on the owners itself.

Now the coins really stand at good position with 1USD price which was almost 20 cents last week. So people who had invested earlier are now 5X in profit and if you invest into it then you will have to wait for another 6 months minimum for that kind of returns. Its nice project though so I'm full positive about it. :-)

I would add some tokens like SUB, CARDANO, EOS, IOTA, COB, COSS, PPT, PPP also to the list because these may have potential to blow up a bt more in the future. I don't have many of these except a decent bag of COSS and COB, but I do hold a few of the others. I regret not buying more VERI AND PPT when they were much cheaper in price, the same as SUB, but SUB dropped 30% today so might be good to pick some of that up while the price crashed today a bit with the surge in Bitcoin price.

I would like to advise you to read read and read. Learn learn and learn Smiley After all of that do your own diligence and invest in few coins, not in single one, pick your top 3 or 5 or 10. There are lot of good projects out there. Just start small with testing and tweaking and testing trades and everything on the run. Smiley

Well that advice can be useful and for everyday life: if you stop learning you may loose everything. And if you want to be on top, so you have to study everyday, study hard and careful. Smiley

It depends what you're looking for.
If you want something safe, go with ETH or one of the bigger coins. Check them on coinmarketcap.
If you're looking for one with a low price that has a chance to boom, it's up to you to make your own research. Do you like the project? What about the team behind it? Is there roadmap serious?
Right now, there are few coins with supposedly a lot of potential: ADA, EOS, GNT, NEO, IOTA...but again you have to make your own opinion. Not everybody will agree.

If I'm given the chance to study altcoins for long term investment, I would go for some coins that are under $0.20 in value. The ones that I am looking forward to study are Electroneum, Dogecoin, Tron, Reddcoin, Bytecoin, Siacoin, Dent, Digibyte and a lot more.

I'm currently holding ETN, DOGE and TRON, and still have yet to buy other coins who are under $0.20. These undervalued coins would probably skyrocket in the long run.
Awesome perspective you are saying here... those coins are cheap but as you said with potential to go to the roof in a long term time thanks for sharing Cheesy
I hoped you write more about the crypto Smiley

BTW, should one only study the white paper of a coin before investing in it?  Or there are other things to look into as well?

Hello everyone

I'm new to altcoins and would like to study some good projects before investing in them. One thing which a lot of people have recommended me is Ripple as a lot of banks seem to be behind it. However, I'll first study it myself before investing a penny in it.

In the same manner, are there other projects which I can look into which are not just used for speculative money making but have an actual life use as well.

Let me know the projects I should be looking at.

Thanks :-)

As you're interested in studying, I would recommend two of my favorites for this purpose, NEM and DGB.
And I would also like to request that do share your views and insights after you study them.
It would definitely be a useful read once you publish it.

DASH

MONERO

OMISEGO

LISK

MONETHA

CIVIC

0X

NEM

And remember: the major issue is to diversify your cryptofolio.

Why those coins? Do your own research.

You can analyse projects about decentralized exchanges like oax, 0x, waves and I think projects about insurance and gambling industry are also good.
