You can't beat Bitfury for quiet. New Bitfurys are available, but are quite expensive.

Kept in a cool place, I expect the new S3 to be relatively quiet.

Link please? I've seen nothing actually for sale from the usual sites in a long time.

The post above yours.

ASICs typically emit no noise, it´s miners with fans that do.

That aside, antminer s3s are probably quite quiet (they have 140mm fans) and generally a good buy.

Newer Bitfury gear is the 3.5 TH boxes, which are not really available for consumer level customers.

Antminers S1                                    not quiet specially in hot weather fans spin fast
Dragon                                                quiet like a computer  about 55db
Spondoolies                                      Forget it (nice miner thought)
KNC Jupiter                                       very quiet hardly notice it works
BFL SIngle 60                                    not quite

so the list can be updated

I've got 1 Avalon 3 module in my garage and until I changed the fans on it, it was like having a jet engine in there. I was genuinely worried about the neighbours complaining as their houses are slightly closer to my garage than my house is.

I've got about 10-20kw available in a commercial space but noise would be an issue.  Which asics are quietest?  I know spoondollies is out.  Anyone have any suggestions would be much appreciated.

September batch isn't out and it will ship in less than 2 months.

im going to assume you are asking which mining rigs are least loud, as the ASICs themselves are all silent..

unless im just deaf..

do chips EVER make any noise apart from when they combust etc?

Oh they do, you have to listen real close.
Every time a asic finds a block you hear ka-ching.....

I hope that extra fan on the new S3 translates to really low RPMs as Bitmain suggested. I'm actually pretty happy with the noise levels of the S1 & S2, so any improvement is just a bonus.

I concur on the Bitfury gear. I've got a couple rigs in Spotswood cases. 3x 12cm Cougar fans each, run nearly silently. Keep them in my living room they're so quiet in fact.

Old Bitfury gear is quiet, you supply the fans, although the new miners aren't yet available as far as I know.

KNC stuff has been traditionally quite quiet but there are lots of caveats regarding their business practices to be wary of.
