Coinbase uses Silicon Valley Bank, which has a lot of relationships with VC firms, such as FundersClub who was in on the first round of Coinbase investors. I found this reference: http://www.coindesk.com/the-banking-industry-varied-views-bitcoin/

Quote
The Silicon Valley Bank (SVB), based in Santa Clara, California, is an early synergist within bitcoin and banking. The company’s relationship with Coinbase allows US bank holders to easily acquire bitcoin. Verify a bank account with Coinbase, and it’s simple to move your USD into bitcoin and vice versa.

I can't really tell you if 100% accuracy but I think it's either wells fargo or bank of america, have you tried to ask their support team ? They could answer you the question.
You suggestion has already been done and it's been told that they can't disclose it.
They told the user that tried it to ask their bank...and they also weren't permitted to do so.

I know BBVA and Citi banks have controlling interest in Coinbase. The ex-ceo of citigroup (Vikram pandit) is a key player in coinbase.

They won't tell you for good reason
Banks like business but don't necessarily want it known that they are bankers to btc businesses

That is what I was thinking

The bank won't want the information to be public

Which bank does CoinBase use to do ACH transfers with clients? As the US banks have a history of shutting down bank accounts of Bitcoin related businesses, I wonder how CoinBase has been able to avoid the same fate. Any ideas?

I have no idea but if I had to guess a bank it would be Bank of America. B of A seems willing to move large amounts of money to and from BTC no problem. This is just based off of what I have seen, I'm sure Somebody will pop in with a B of A horror story...

Negative. Boa shut down my 11 year old account in perfect and higher tiered standing for btc transactions.

I did ask CoinBase and the rep said he was not permitted to tell me. He said to call my bank and they could tell me where the ACH transfer went. I called my bank and they said they could not tell me and to call CoinBase.
