The coin profitability doesn't change because of the OS but because of many other things. In fact the same coins which are the most profitable to mine Windows OS are the same that are the most profitable ones in the Hive OS also.
What it differs is the number of miners one OS may support against others. For the moment, Ethereum and Monero are the most profitable coins on Gpu-s like ATI, and in Nvidia there are some different coins.
I think the OS is important to make better profit.
For example:
GTX1050 2GB can mine 420 kh/s neoscrypt on Windows without any problem.
GTX1050 2GB cannot mine neoscrypt on HiveOS without problem.
The GPU is getting hotter whlie mining neoscrypt on HiveOS. Well, you cannot mine neoscrypt on HiveOS.
Tested with ccminer tpruvot fork and cryptodegre. Both miner has the same problem on HiveOS.
But Windows version has no temparature problem This is just an example.

HiveOS makes a good proit for AMD GPUs with t-rex miner.
But there is no Windows version of t-rex miner.
Well, you can make a good profit on HiveOS with AMD GPUs.
