Interesting, I had no idea Antshares/Neo was non blockchain. Im pretty heavily invested and have already more than doubled up in under a month. Big fan.

I will look into the other one. Thanks!

Your welcome, please be aware that byteball is having an airdrop tomorrow, so the price of GBYTE may collapse in the next few days. Many of the bitcoin holders who receive the shares will automatically sell irrespective of what they are worth.  Good luck with your investing!

Yes was looking at the extremely low supply and amount still yet to be created. will not be investing in GBYTE.

I think I will stick with Maidsafe and NEO as my non-blockchain plays. thanks guys.

Sit back, relax, eat some nachos and have a drink.
IOTA and Byteball use the same technology. "The tangle" is just a marketing device.

There are major issues with these blockless coins. Byteball is acknowledging the issues while IOTA is apparently not.

@White sugar: users can double spend and do all sorts of bad things, but the network corrects itself over time, based on probabilities. If someone has control of 51% of the network (actually I think think number is less), game over.

If they don't have a blockchain then how can the users be sure that no one is doing shady things like creating or deleting balances or reversing transactions?

It’s easy to confuse what is with what ought to be
"Sardex" was just profiled on CBS Sunday morning.  It's a centralized database however, but it is also a credit-based, local currency only used by businesses in Sardinia.

IOTA uses what they call a tangle, but I'm not technically savvy enough to say if that's fundamentally different from a blockchain. Need to do some more reading on it.

There are two that I am aware of

1. Byteballs - directed acrylic graphs (DAG), see https://byteball.org

2. NEO - Byzantine fault tolerance (used to be called Antshares), see https://neo.org

Maidsafe is the only project I know that isn't using the blockchain, does anyone know of any others? and if so can you describe them a bit about what the project does and why it doesnt use the blockchain. thanks.
