binance, mercatox, cryptopia i always recommend this three for newbies because of easy way of trade and i already use this without any problem like scam or anything bad then visit my many trading site then i use also poloniex in past but i already withdraw my btc and alts there still i think this is good trading site,Moreover try all site for experience and knowledge
Cryptophia is not always the best exchanges because there were lot of accusations were there on them about pending withdrawals and also you may face difficulties while receiving the confirmation email but I didn't get scam through that exchange but just the precaution for the newbies.Poloniex looks more dangerous so better to completely avoid it ans I have no idea about mercatox exchange and finally the Binance is the best of the current available exchanges.

I personally started out with Poloniex on friend's recommendation.

In the past I used Poloniex, I remember Trollbox times and I spent hours in the trollbox, it was a good thing, but after closing the trollbox and poloniex started to take a lot of time to answer the support tickets, I gave up using poloniex. Poloniex is currently 56

What do you guys use and why?

I use binance, because Binance has a good interface and its owner is not anonymous

Yeah, the trollbox at Polo was a thing of beauty back then.  Smiley. I also literally spend hours in the trollbox and I must admit I found few gems with a good pump 50%-100% within hours or days, easy profit. I have a good experienced with Binance and OKex, few hit and miss with HitBtc but I already move out because of so much complain against them, although I didn't personally experience anything bad from them, just the usual withdrawal delays but fees are exorbitant.

I use Poloniex too as my place for trading. Although the customer support system is too slow to give a response, Poloniex trying to compete with bittrex and binance. I also use bittrex and binance, and in binance, I see that we have a big chance to buy and sell the coin so we can make a profit. There are many more exchanges that you can choose for your trading but make sure that you know how to handle two or three exchanges at the same time.

Bitmex is the only exchange I have been using for a good while now, and I'm probably not going to trade on spot exchanges again.

My primary goal is to stack up on BTC and not fiat, so it only makes sense to use Bitmex with how everything is BTC settled. The best part is that you can use BTC to settle altcoin contracts as well, which makes Bitmex even more interesting with how altcoins generally move up or down harder than Bitcoin.

Another aspect of Bitmex I highly support is that all their funds are stored offline, which means that they aren't dealing with hot wallets. It's less convenient with how they only allow you to withdraw funds once a day, but I gladly sacrifice convenience for more security.

i use coinbase pro (formerly gdax) for depositing/withdrawing fiat. i want to limit the exchanges i do KYC with, and i think they're one of the most trustworthy and least likely to be sanctioned by regulators. they also have free ACH transfers, free limit orders, and free BTC withdrawals. so you can essentially trade there for free.

then i use binance for altcoin trading---good interface and trading engine, and high enough withdrawal thresholds that i don't need to do KYC.

and finally, i use bitmex for hedging with futures. low fees, high leverage, and pretty deep order books. and no KYC.

Few years ago it was Bittrex's and Poloniex's era but I stopped using them due to some interesting came out such as Binance so I tried it out and it seems that I've attached to it already.

Bitfinex is also one of the popular exchange until now. Actually there's too many of it in the market and competition is becoming tough and number of traders are growing so you can try most of it. Just keep away from new exchanges that doesn't have much reviews.

It depends on what I'm trading in. I generally a little wary of the new ones tho.

I experimented with a number of exchanges before settling on Bithumb and Bitfinex. Bitfinex is just solid overall and Bithumb is surprisingly user friendly and is better for larger transactions. They've been having these event promotions recently that is saving me decent money overall.
