ts true that cloudmining is worthless, there is no profit there. The coins woth minining with less powerful hardware is usually a new coin with low difficulty. You can also try Staking, it is a newer form of mining you just keep a fixed number of coins in server. This is also known as masternode.

Thank you for the thought! I assume cloud mining contracts fall in similar category?

Cloudminings are crap (understand those cloudminings offering you contracts).
Nevertheless you can try hashnest (it's cloudmining as well buy you have no contract with them, you just buy hashrate but most importantly you can sell it whenever you want) .. there is realtime exchange and the profit comes mostly from the trading ...  same service is offered by BW.com ... both are reliable, well know, bitcoin mining involved companies.

As of the home mining https://whattomine.com might help you find best coins to mine.

Mining is still definitely profitable if you know what you're doing. Cloud mining though? Nope. Stay away from it.

Here's a website that can help you calculate your potential profits with certain coins: https://www.coinwarz.com/cryptocurrency/coins

Just choose a coin, then enter the necessary data(Hashrate, power costs, etc), then it can help you determine your potential profit.

Bitcoin Cheesy

I'd personally would just invest the money to buy the coins directly rather than invest them in mining rig. Mining is like doubling the speculation, that is on prices and difficulty.

I just wanted to get some opinion on which crypto-currencies are worth mining as of November 2017. It seems the market and computing power is changing day by days and other alternative currencies are getting good responses for being easy to compute. Which machines do you think are coming out that can do multiple mining? Is investing in ASIC or other similar technologies worth it?

I'll digress a bit... I'll appreciate any friendly contribution in these addresses. If I do well, I'll pay it forward in this community.
