Another section in the altcoin section...for spam? In the altcoin section, several hundred thousand posts are published every month, of which the vast majority are spam. Even despite the implied discussion of more technically complex things related to altcoins, I am sure that newly created topics in these sections will be filled, for the most part, with all sorts of spam, shillings of some projects and other shitposting.

Altcoin discussion is the best. There is Speculation (Altcoins) for price speculation but generally, there are not considerable meaningful discussions in Altcoin board. Most of them are spam posts and there are many similar topics but with low quality posts inside.
I hardly visit the altcoin section due to the reasons you have mentioned and you would find lot of spam posting there and members making irrelevant discussion about some shitcoins in the market. This time there are lot of threads over meta and nft space on the first page but hardly find any good post over there who will be giving right advice and contributing effectively to the discussion. Many high rank members of the forum avoid this section and concentrate over good topics only.

Since different altcoins have different technicalities. For example, Monero's technical architecture maybe different from that of Dash. I think It would be good to discuss such in the respective Announcement threads where you might get members interested in the project following rather than altcoin discussion which is abroad place with almost every thing is discussed from airdrops to scam tokens.
The only problem with that is it often gets lost with the twenty different other conversations (while still remaining on topic) going on about the Altcoin, assuming its a popular thread that is. For me, Altcoin Discussion needs more substantial threads, than is X better than Y? which I assume might have been the original purpose of that.

Although, most Altcoins copy one another these days, there's only really a couple that are truly unique.

Altcoin Discussion. Anything altcoin goes into that general section, because we lack anything to the equivalent of the Bitcoin's Development & Technical Discussion, post it in Altcoin Discussion.

If you're worried about the quality of replies you might get there, either make it self moderated, and delete any reply you don't deem contributing to the discussion or report it to a moderator if you believe it's breaking forum rules. I know that the Altcoin section is a little messy, but it would be nice to see more technical discussion with a bit of substance, and maybe we'll start getting that the quality to increase over time.

I think it's just meant to go in altcoin discussion unless it's worth being put in mining (depending on the topic).

There were historic discussions of getting technical boards in altcoins but they weren't made because the focus of the forum is primarily bitcoin.
