the windows is Win XP SP3 with .Net Framework 4 installed on it installed on a virtual machine. i don't think it has anything special install other than what i just said.
and i still say go with Linux, you can dual boot to keep the WinXP or even boot the linux live from CD/DVD or if your hardware (bios?) supports it you can boot from a USB disk.

Finally i got it working! latest version 2.8.2. The problem was connected with Net Framework... it seems that Net framework 3.5 or an earlier version is needed. I installed all of them and now it's working smootly.
I know that linux would be better, but as i've said changing from windows xp wasn't an option in this case.
