You guys are going to drop into the ocean !
I'll stay in in in the middle of BC, Canada thanks LOL

Amazing how you forget about them earthquakes and ring of fire threats so quickly.

A big one is looming for California and you all know it (now that i reminded you)

EDIT:
Funny i was just sayin' hahahha

2 weeks ago i got one around 3.4 in BC then 2 days later my room-mate in Mexico got a 6.4
and now i see on my local news..

Quote
The U.S. Geological Survey says in a preliminary report that the magnitude-4.4 quake hit in foothills northwest of San Bernardino about 5:38 p.m. at a depth of about three miles. Minutes later it was followed by aftershocks of magnitude 3.8 and 3.2.

I had to come back and edit my post LOL

Deliberately moving to a nasty fault zone for tech-scene, money and night club life is retarded.
Like moving into Tornado alley  Roll Eyes

EDIT:
Quote
Traditionally earthquakes of this size are a monthly occurrence in Southern California, but "it's been quieter for the last few years," Jones said.

Wow! I couldn't imagine this was possible, dividing California. Is this what the locals want?

Doesn't change anything in my mind, though. California's an awful place to live, except for mixed-race genetically-modified tattooed transgender socialists who smoke crack every morning.

Silicon Valley would be my move of choice.  There are always great things happening there and tons of money to be made is you are willing to work hard.  Not to mention the networking you could do with the next Bill Gates.  Lets make this move.

What a weird idea, why so many states? i mean they could have been 2 or 3 but six states are way too much.

Yeah, it's bizarre alright. Just some crackpot idea from a crazy rich guy. If anything, 2 states -- north and south -- because yes, they are already like two different countries. But that's it.

Quote
Timothy Draper, a venture capitalist founder of a Silicon Valley-based venture capital firm that has invested in such tech companies as Twitter, HotMail, Skype and Tesla, told Reuters he has the 808,000 signatures needed on a petition to force the measure onto a public referendum in November 2016. Under the far-fetched plan, one state would be called "Silicon Valley" and would include the tech mecca, as well as San Francisco.

"California needs a reboot," Draper, who has spent $4.9 million of his own money on the effort, said in a press release. "Six Californias is our opportunity to solve the many problems we face today. ... Six states that are more representative and accountable. Six states that embrace innovation and strive to improve the lives of residents."

I wonder, what are the chances of getting this Draper dude into Bitcoin? Do you thing he'll make a good fit and all? Then again, a person of his stature probably wouldn't want any heat from the FBI, et al, thus don't spend too much time trying to convince him about the merits of Bitcoin. The last thing we want is to have such a dude thinking that bitcoins are mainly used for illegal activities on the internet, i.e. purchasing drugs, and we surely don't want them to think that.

Yeah, except as carved out here, it's probably more appropriately called the San Francisco Bay Area. This Draper guy doesn't know what he's talking about.

Seriously? Why is that?
I'm pretty sure that I'd move to Silicon Valley.
Before you move to Silicon Valley, you should

- assess your savings and see how long those will last
- plan accordingly
- be prepared to answer "equity only" offers, especially with nascent startups
- build business contacts and/or get introductions in the area prior to arrival

what does California offer that Florida doesn't.  oh i know, Inn-and-Out burgers.  name something else.  oh wait u can't

No gators, no mosquitoes, no humidity for the most part.  No tropical rainstorms and lightning.

Barring all that I would choose to move out of LA and over to someplace in FL.

Funny everybody wants to live in Silicon Valley, but the cost of living would just shoot up even higher.  The whole SV state would be like NY Upper East Side and land would be more expensive than anywhere on Earth.  Agricultural CA would be able to charge $10 per avocado!  Cheesy

I'd rather fucking exile to Arizona. It is false hope to the extreme to think that the tyrannical status quo will ever end in the geographical area currently known as California, no matter how many states it's divided into. Show me a single county in CA whose government does not violate human rights now (and therefore may continue to do so post-split-up).

What is the difference if they split?

Sili will be it's own state.

Isn't it funny how they don't have any statements from people in California saying they agree with it? Only the people with money?

What would the two-letter abbreviation for South California and North California be given that SC and NC, respectively, has already been allocated?

Plus, Central California would be without a port since it'll be land-locked.

There is literally no rhyme or reason for this proposition besides "fresh choice"

Show me how this advances us economically or in some other useful fashion. All I'm seeing is more gridlock with 6 different governments instead of one.

I would have to see the politics of each; as of right now Cali as a whole is not a very good option to move to, it's over-regulated and the wealth disparities are wild.  If you don't have business there, it should be avoided: http://freedominthe50states.org/overall/california

But who knows, maybe a few of the individual states will loosen up its government grip.  I have my doubts but I suppose nothing is impossible.

- Silicon Valley: Including San Francisco, San Jose and most of what's considered the San Francisco Bay Area.

What a bizarre proposition that will never ever happen. Smiley

Weird that they refer to the Bay Area as "Silicon Valley". That's some new school visionary crap that will never happen. Anyway, I love the Bay, consider it my home. So I choose that. Smiley

Ahh the 6 CA's thing.  Because the liberal CEOs in Silicon Valley are tired of being taxed for the social programs that they support  Cheesy

I'm in West Ca right now and I would move down to SD.  LA is going to shit with a horrible mayor and horrible traffic and insane taxes and utility rates.  SD looks a lot nicer.

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation-now/2014/07/15/six-californias-tim-draper/12661161/

The six carved out states would look like this:

- Jefferson: The northern part of the state, including Humboldt and Mendocino counties.
- North California: The wine country counties of Sonoma and Napa, as well as the Sierra Nevada region.
- Silicon Valley: Including San Francisco, San Jose and most of what's considered the San Francisco Bay Area.
- Central California: The vast central valley farm region, including Tulare and Fresno counties.
- West California: Including Santa Barbara and Los Angeles.
- South California: Including what's called the Inland Empire of San Bernadino and Riverside, plus San Diego.
