I think Tether is a good one, though it is relatively stable one. Personally, I think in order to make a crypto-asset more stable, it has to be backed by precious metals, or real store of value!
So, the current Gigzi ico project is the answer for stability in crypto price. This upcoming ecosystem will make "tokenized precious metals" a good solution for price volatility and will have a treasury to store gold, silver and platinum..

As part of CP Processors’ series HOW STABLE COINS WORK , we are performing stablecoin reviews of chosen most notable and active stablecoins to day.

This is all part of our stablecoin initiative, done in the effort to further raise awareness on stablecoins in general, and help people understand how they work and what is their overall potential.

Our fifth review was performed on the stablecoin Tether (#USDT), no1 stablecoin by market cap. This review will clearly show main differences between this stablecoin and its top competitors.

Any stable coin would be okay. Because their value is strong and stable. I have no problems using any stable coins. But for now I used recently was USDT to purchase tokens.

They are useful actually if you are a day trader and you want to save your profits through them.

Though I don't really use them but that's what I can see from the people who are using it. When they see the market shakes, they are saving their money through converting to these stable coins.

exactly, that is one powerful use case for stablecoins

"Buying TrueUSD (TUSD) for funds from your bank requires a 2-step process. You're going to buy some BTC or ETH from an exchange that accepts deposits from a debit card or bank account, and then you're going to transfer your newly bought crypto to a marketplace that sells TUSD in exchange for bitcoin or Ether.
On TrueUSD platform, current minimum purchase amount is $10,000..."

I also thought so, maybe in the future people would prefer to use stable coins as a digital currency. but if with stable coin we will not be able to get a big profit from trading.

if crypto wants to be used as a payment instrument, I think stable coin is the best way to do it if it is backed by real money. keeps the value of stable coin fixed. and maybe this is one way for crypto to be accepted by everyone.

but if we talk about profit, stable coins are less suitable to become investments because the price is stable and does not have high volatility

I do not see point of stable coin in future, especially for crypto payments. Cryptocurrencies should not be something like fiat money. I would rather use real dolar instead of Tether, TUSD or DAI... These stablecoins have too many points of failure.

In the effort to further raise awareness on stablecoins in general, we decided to make the first standardized stablecoins questionnaire. Before standards can be established, we need to get feedback from everyone in the community. It is essential that we all work together to create these standards.

That is why we have created this survey with proposed questions that any stablecoin will have to answer before calling itself a proper stablecoin. We expect you to tell us which questions you would exclude from this questionnaire and to add those that are missing.

Here is the link to the survey - https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdmpAXOOOkNS94BJ18fneTAgtMnVpzG2XXnqr1ttRwrxLj2Cw/viewform?usp=sf_link

it should be trustful coin, Havven looks interesting, while Tether discredited itself with lack of funds to support USDT by 1:1 proportion and printing money from air

Tether is still the most dominant stablecoin in the market, but finally started to decline and is rapidly losing trust of the traders. It is amazing that it didn't happened sooner, since Tether failed to provide audits of its funds

This is one big great news for stable coins and is backed up with real dollars.
Coinbase and Circle Launch USDC Stablecoin With Purported Full Backing in US Dollars
Coinbase Adds Its First Stablecoin Tied to the US Dollar
Coinbase lets you buy and sell USDC stablecoin
Look on how quick USDC reached the top 100 if you'll see it on Coinmarketcap.

Circle is added in our report on StableCoins - https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/e/2PACX-1vTf2gZZJrpSXCxcx_pE4Sjta2lDnDXWbK0ARgoIw_HkYGoIdFtfi0QRJs3DFMnoaQm47cOxeS-0gSiI/pubhtml#, and will be reviewed in our #StableCoinsReview - https://medium.com/cp-processor/questions-for-stable-coins-review-e73ba5931171

It made a big splash when it enter crypto market and deserves to be thoroughly explained. What do you think of these questions? Anything missing?
Yes, having a real back up of dollars is really big and its Coinbase and Circle, they are not just so popular companies but they are one of the biggest that operates right now. With your questions, they are fine IMO.

What I think is missing is you've got to put some multiple choices and input your ideas and answers with your questions. That will be easier for your survey to be answered by participants who are interested to it.

Thank you for your constructive suggestions!  Smiley

I don't think usdt will lose dominance. other competitors have lower volume compared to usdt and you can't use it as a method of keeping your funds in stability.

They have lower volume for now, but Tether is not going to dominate stablecoin market for much longer. Regulated coins will take over its dominance, or at least split it

I do not believe in stable coins as crypto is volatile market. Stable coins has to be  backed with same amount of FIAT
to be stable. We has witnessed  this week when Tether lost almost 10% from it`s value. I see the benefit from stable
coins for trading purposes

What I see is that the crypto currency has never been stable and never will. There may be some coins that will be used by people for payments such as hotels, meals or coffee. Even now there are already but if you are looking for coins that are stable in price it will be difficult, bitcoin that we often see has never been stable until now.

You can't compare bitcoin, ether, and other altcoins with stablecoins. They are completely different in purpose and the way they are designed.
All stablecoins are not the same by type (Fiat collateral, crypto collateral, non collateral/algorithm) but they are all striving to be stable in price. Most notable examples of price stable stablecoins are Tether and lately TrueUSD, but many more are emerging and it seems that the market is maturing and is finally ready to accept stablecoins.

Legit stable coin is that coin should be comply with regulation AML and auditable. In the crypto market now alot of new stable coin and some of them was comply with AML and auditable, one of them is GUSD /Gemini Dolar which this coin released by Gemini exchange. Stable coin that auditable is very important for crypto ecosystem to avoid fraud activity.

https://en.bitnovosti.com/2018/03/27/bit-z-crypto-exchange-will-delist-tether-tokens/

So we now have two exchanges that delisted Tether :

Digifinex : who delisted Tether and added TrueUSD
Bit-Z      :  who delisted Tether

Personally i dont use any stablecoin, but i would be very very carefull with using Tether,
its operating way too shady.

If i were to choose a stablecoin, it would have to be fully accountable, backed up by strict regulation, legally protected
and operating independently (for example TrueUSD is a ERC token, that has a dependency on Ethereum's network).

Maybe i would go for the Gemini Dollar, as the Gemini exchange itself is regulated very well and provides good legal protection.
I suspect Tether's role will start to diminish over time, if they keep operating like they do now.

Well, the most reliable today is USDT, due to long history, but majority of users accuse it for fraudulent activities,so it seems that we need for another trusted stable coin.

Nusd by Havven is not something what can compete with usdt, but gusd by Gemini exchange seems to me potential.

Gusd has just appeared ,but I believe it can sucessfuly compete with usdt in nearest future.

I am looking forward for more stable coins like for euro(not only usd should be used)

I believe stable coins will have a use case as something you exchange other cryptos to, but never as something people will want to invest in. Part of the fun with crypto is that it can increase in value, this is taken away with stable coins...

During our extensive market research, we have come across some devastating facts. The majority of people that are dealing with cryptocurrencies, still has no clue what the concept of stablecoins is all about. The most popular false opinion is that it refers to cryptocurrencies such as bitcoin or ether, that are in some way, superior to other cryptocurrencies and dictate the price change. That is why we have decided to start a public group StableCoins, whose sole purpose will be to educate the community about the potential and significance of stablecoins in general.

If you are interested in stablecoins, join the public group StableCoins, and help us spread the word - https://www.facebook.com/groups/208634679804038/

COMPREHENSIVE OVERVIEW OF STABLECOINS - PART 4!
NON COLLATERALIZED STABLECOINS

Non collateralized stablecoins are price stable cryptocurrencies that aren’t backed by any collateral. It is the most complex, but potentially the most impactful for the ecosystem. To maintain the price level, a “central bank” is created that algorithmically maintains the supply of currency, increasing it when price goes up and decreasing it when price goes down.

Pros:
-Does not require collateral
-Theoretically risk-independent of other currencies (though if there is a general decline in cryptocurrencies as an asset class there would likely be a decline in demand for seigniorage shares)
Cons:
-Not as intuitive or easily explained as other structures
-Input of future expectations for seigniorage shares means that it cannot be known how resilient a coin is to downward pressure
-Require always increasing future demand

Projects that implement this method are:
1. Basecoin
2. Carbon
3. Kowala
4. Fragments
5. Minexcoin
6. CP Processor

Comprehensive overview of STABLECOINS — PART 3

**CRYPTO COLLATERALIZED STABLECOINS**
Instead of backing units of a stablecoin 1:1 with fiat, crypto-collateralized stablecoins hold a ratio greater than 1:1 of a cryptocurrency (or basket of cryptocurrencies) and issue units of a stablecoin supported by the cryptocurrency held.

**Pros:**
1. Does not rely on third-party custody like fiat-collateralized
2. Conducted on-chain which enables a faster increase/decrease of stable coin units and liquidity than fiat-collateralized
3. Transparent to external parties without the need for auditors
**Cons:**
1. Not capital efficient
2. Complex selection process if a basket of cryptocurrencies; questionable price stability/security if just one cryptocurrency

**Projects with this structure:**
1. Bitshares
2. MakerDAO
3. Aurora
4. Havven
5. CP Processor

Due to the volatility of cryptocoins, it is no surprising that people are looking into stable coins. I believe that i trust Havven as they have got a great team and a working demo already.

Comprehensive overview of STABLECOINS — PART 2
FIAT COLLATERALIZED STABLECOINS
**Fiat collateral for creating a token represents reserves held by a central entity.**
How it works: The mechanics for implementation are fairly straight-forward. A third party takes deposits in US Dollars (or another desirable fiat currency) and issues a unit of stablecoin for every dollar deposited. To cash out a unit of stablecoin, the third party wires US Dollar to the holder and burns a unit of the stablecoin.
Pros:
* Easy to conceptualize
* Value will match USD with certainty if properly implemented (digitized dollars without capital controls)
Cons:
* Must trust third-party to hold fiat collateral
* Need additional third-party for audit to make sure appropriate collateral is being held and units of stablecoin match deposits
* Expensive and slow to audit
Projects with this structure:
1.Tether,
2.TrueUSD,
3.DigixDAO,
4.Globcoin,
5.AAA reserve,
6.Stably,
7.X8 currency

Comprehensive overview of STABLECOINS — PART 1.

For those of you who still don’t know, “Stablecoins” as they are called by the greater blockchain community, are crypto coins that are intended to provide measurable stability in a price change. These crypto coins are “designed to be used as a unit of account and even as a store of value.” Typically, most stablecoins are pegged against the USD, but some implementations intend to move over to a basket of currencies or an index such as the CPI (consumer price index) in time. This is in hopes of having a currency independent of fiat in the near future.

There are three categories of approaches to developing a price-stable cryptocurrency:
1. fiat-collateralized
2. crypto-collateralized
3. non-collateralized (essentially an independent, non-collateralized currency maintained by an “algoritham”)

Our recent poll showed that 45% of you believes that MakerDao& Dai has the most promising Stablecoin and that it will be most likely the future of crypto payment.

We think that stable token DAI in practice has the role of ETH LONG leverage and in other words serves as some kind of ETH CALL Option.

What do you think?

You're right people cryptos weren't meant to be valued for their volatility and yet that's the case anyway, so I am not sure people are ready to value stable coins more than unstable. It might be the case in the future if cryptos get massively adopted and can really become the means of payment, then stability will be an important matter for economy.
As for the article on coins, dai and usdt are backed up, so their stability is not due to some unique tech and can eventually be compromised. Basis looks interesting, but I don't understand how the supply can be decreased in case there's lack of demand for it if, say, people already possess too much of coins. What, the money will be just disappearing from their wallets for the sake of stability? Or there will always be a huge amount of money kind of reserved for being available or not available?

We also have no dilemma that the massive use of the crypto requires stability for the simple reason :
many more people want to make payments than to gamble.
If you look around realistically, you will see that this claim is proven in real life.

As far as the future of the Stablecoins, the race has just started, and time will show the results ...
We hope that CP Processor will achieve its vision and mission.

what are you talking about? there is not even a single vote on that poll, how can it have any results?!!!

in any case why do you even think a centralized stablecoin can be the future of payments? people don't come to cryptocurrencies to have a stable price. they come to them to benefit from the decentralization and then if there were stability, it would be icing on the cake.

all the coins you named here are centralized. some of them are less centralized i'll give you that but they are still centralized. the articles you posted above are more like the "ideal" coins that we wish to have not the coins that exist.
not to mention that they are not even stable!!! for instance HAV is currently worth $0.54 not the promised $1
That was i supposed to say and i dont know why he would pushed about that stability into those coins yet even centralized coins in the market do have movable prices. Does he really know whats the definition on the word "stable" ? Seems like he lacks out with some dictionary and also that Poll what a shame and doesnt any have a single vote. lol

Is USD a stable currency?
NO, neither internally, nor externally.
So, you do not need to look for the definition of "stable"

USD is not a stable currency and that is confirmed on a daily basis.
Internally, USD is consolidated constantly through a changeable benchmark interest rate set by the FED and it generally loses value over time due to inflation.
Externally, it has a floating currency exchange rate against other international currencies.
From time to time, it gives us greater than expected shocks and there is one simple reason for that — people manage USD money supply centrally and subjectively.

Show us just one company in the world that has Bitcoin and believes that there are no risks about its value,
and therefore uses it as a method of payment and settlement of liabilities.
And not to mention investment funds that treat Bitcoin and Ethereum in their portfolio only as an investment asset
and conduct the same actions as for the other investment assets (risk assessment, Buy and Sell decisions…).

If you want a stable coin then pick Nem(XEM) Waves. XRP- Litecoin or even ADA or XLM. If you rely on faster transaction with their smart contracts then you can choose XRP, XLM or Xem in terms of payments.

Also, the question is - which of these stablecoins will most likely be the FUTURE OF CRYPTO PAYMENTS Some of these coins exist right now, and some will soon be released. They should be ideal, but as you mentioned, some already failed to do that, for example HAV. But, you cannot deny that building stablecoins is necessary if we want to utilize cryptocurrency for payments.

One of the main problems with Bitcoin for ordinary users is that, while the network may be a great way of sending payments, with lower transaction costs, much more expansive global reach, and a very high level of censorship resistance, Bitcoin as the currency is a very volatile means of storing value. This volatility results from its built-in quantity commitment: because the number of Bitcoins in existence stays on a programmed path, variations in the real demand to hold Bitcoin must be accommodated entirely by variations in its unit value. When demand goes up, there is no quantity increase to dampen the rise in price; and vice-versa for a fall in demand. So, the currency has an established reputation for extreme volatility and Bitcoin holders can lose their wealth and quite often the price moves up or down by as much as 10–20% in a single day.

I prefer Havven more. It is a decentralized system. There are many advantages available in haven. So. I will choose Havven.

Yes, the most interesting thing about Havven project is that it will mint its stable tokens exclusively with the supply and collateral of its own token that builds value based on the transaction fees
