I think it is ethereum which is known to be next to Bitcoin when it comes on market popularity, demand and for having a large community of users. These factors made Ethereum a huge cryptocurrency throughout the years of its existence in the market contributing on its continuous market price growth as we can see based on the difference on its price from two years ago and up to the present.

I understand the need for us to do our own research before deciding which coin we feel is the best next to bitcoin but that being said I also think that the market speaks for itself when it comes to issues like these. You look at the market in terms of project, market prices and market value and it is not hard to tell that the next best coin to bitcoin is actually ethereum.

I think that next after Bitcoin goes Cardano (ADA). They do not have a working product yet, but if they can do all that they write in their Whitepaper, then I'm sure that this project will be a lot to worth for. I believe ethereum is the answer, I don't see any coin like this one. We can see their history progress ( price action, volume, news ) that will give us description how good this coin and worth to become the next after bitcoin. Most people will agree with me and if not, they didn't see clearly.

Good point, especially if you are pointing out to the noobs. anyway, my bet is on bitcoin cash - because whether the people admits it or not, no other token had caused so much panic to bitcoin hodlers than this one. actually that is why the bitcoin community hates it, because it threatens them in some weird ways. I don't think there will be any cryptocurrency which will catch up to Bitcoin in terms of price, but in volume of trading maybe there is like ethereum. The price is hardly reachable because of the supply difference between Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

No doubt, it would be Ethereum that is next to bitcoin because it's currency is now widely use in most of the business applications. Many big companies are adopting the use of ETH currency like service transactions, bills payment and money transactions.

Yes, but for the newcomer and even for the veterans with years, that rush when you see coins suddenly burst onto the charts, is impossible to ignore. Which is why you have to limit your exposure to all these endless news and charts. Keep your focus on your own objectives, and always apply the same principles to all coins, new and old.

FOMO is not easy to avoid, I know myself, I even bought coins like Verge because of FOMO. Luckily made profit but I know that was always a gamble.

to most people here the "best" coin means a coin that can make them rich just by bag holding some of it for some short period of time. this is why you keep seeing a lot of newbies repeating "etehreum is the best" because they are bag holding it and want to become rich and achieve their dreams!!!

If you are looking for a pure currency coin like bitcoin used to be then nano is the best choice for that kind of coin. It has the best feature to be a digital currency and the team behind it also great, it's just they have a problem with exchange hack a few months (not the dev fault though). If you are looking for something else then ethereum or other top 50 coin can be a good choice.

I don't like ethereum because of things what are those developers doing. They are playing much with everything and because of them immutability might not even exist there as devs seems to play around with blockchain whenever they like. First time it was DAO and time when fork happened they are rolled back the chain. This time they want to play with the finds that parity lost due to bad code of smart contract. What about other contracts that lost money? Nothing they simply ignore those but when big money is involved devs will jump in to fix. Oh and don't forget that there is another proposal that could allow anybody to ask for a little change in the blockchain if it gets approved. You should look at EIP999 and EIP867

This seems to be centralizing the day centralized system. People don't care as long as they can earn money.
