If you're extremely new to the space, I would say just get into bitcoin and research the market as much as you possibly can.

However, if you are interested in looking into other projects, here's a couple worth looking into IMO
I won't give you advice on how to spend your money, but maybe give some time for checking these out.

I think there is always good alternatives to bitcoin. But on the other hand, I think you shouldn't forget that, ethereum is the strobgest coin of the crypto.

If you are new then just choose Bitcoin, it's more stable to be used for short term or long term investment, if you want to invest in alt choose eth, by far these two coins is the strongest coins, some of the alt maybe can give you more profit, but other alt contains big risk of losing money

For short time investment choose potential altcoins/tokens.An alt with low market cap can reach ~10x but bitcoins can never ever reach 10x in a "short time".Not after the December pump.

There are many good alts in the market, which offers huge scalability making them huge contender for people using them IRL.And if something is used by many people, then the price will automatically reach the moon.Go for altcoins!

i think that bitcoin is not the best coin out here but for me it's the most "relaiable", for relaiable i mean that it's less likely you will loose all your founds, with alts you can make some crazy gains but it's also more likely to buy a scam project that will fall to nothing like bitconnect or titanium, so if you want to invest in some alts i suggest you to to study their roadmap, the team and the community before buy them.

Invest in bitcoin as the most stable and most dominated crypto and the buy other alternative coin because they can help cover up for some loss when bitcoin market is fluctuating. In short term investment i must prefer to altcoins, but you have to make sure that the altcoin that you investing is having a good potential to be able to earn profit from it. Since you are new to cryptocurrency and the bitcoin is really expensive, it would be better if you are going to invest in cheap altcoins that have a future. In that case, you can buy more coins of that kind and you will have a huge profit in next few years. I will not choose between the two. because each of them has advanced development to make the market more and more and more progressive. for Altcoin is more often beneficial in the short term, while Bitcoin is better for the long term. both of which have an important role in the development of more advanced in the future.

Based on my own experienced the selection between Bitcoin and Altcoin will depends on our strategy of holding because as for me I will choose bitcoin for my long term holding since bitcoin is not so affordable and the Altcoin is for my short term holding or even for day trading Altcoin is more profitable.

In my opinion, for short term investing in altcoins is better than investing in Bitcoin. Since BTC is expensive, it's unlikely to get massive gains in a so short period of time. Instead, if you choose a cheap altcoin it's not impossible to obtain a 100% ROI or even more...

I think only the altcoins will help you in your task, especially coins such as stratis or monero. They are very volatile. Yes, this is a risk, but with bitcoin at the moment you are unlikely to get a big profit because of its small rise in price.

3-4 months is quite a short time, I think you should only invest in the top 20 altcoin like EOS, NEO or Stellar. It is the altcoin that will bring you profits for a short period of time.

On the other hand, new young coins like Ethereum, litecoin and Monero have emerged with great potential. One provides complete anonymity in its transactions which the pioneer doesn't provide. Similarly one has a blockchain of 2.5 minutes which makes its transactions four times faster than Bitcoin. Also, one coin being highly versatile, is not only used as an investment asset but also as a token for smart, decentralised applications.
Hence, it all depends on the investor if he wants to make a safe investment or a risky one with higher profit gains potential.

Yeah agreed . One thing i feel good about bitcoin is that it can recover the loss quickly and easily as compared to different altcoins. Bitcoin take time but yeah it will always give us the good result

The best option will be when you not choose one coin. You should invest in both, 50% in bitcoin and 50% in different altcoins. This option will give you the biggest profit

If you are aiming for short-term return and altcoin should become the best choice for you right consider you can buy them all very cheap through various exchange site. If you have small amount and never try to invest in the bitcoin because it will be worthless with the current rate of bitcoin. I just try to vote for altcoins.

if I were in your shoes, I will choose both because put eggs in one basket is risky, I will invest 40% in Bitcoin and 60% in some altcoins at least I will choose min.8 of the top 50 altcoins in CMC
