Definitely managing my bankroll. I think having full control of your money, while also knowing where each penny goes to, will force you to really manage everything and get the most value out of every cent. It's something that comes to you naturally especially if you see that you have already lost X amount in just a short span of time.

I personally still rely to the analyses of other people before locking my bet, but I know that I can maximize $100 into multiple bets and still have some leftovers for other bets. I can squeeze that as much as I can if I wanted to.

I will say I am better with managing my bankroll than selecting the right bets because so far I have not won so much from betting, but I have not exceeded the limit of money I can use to gamble, and not lost what I am not peaceful with loosing.

I am just wondering, are people who manage their bankroll better gamblers? or gamblers who are good with picking bets?
Yes it is better to manage money than the right bet? Well earlier you said the right bet is not the gambling game is luck, nothing is right even if you are confident in a game then for me this is clearly erratic while to manage money well then you will avoid greed because you have controlled the money from the beginning.

I think people who can manage money are responsible gamblers and they are disciplined from every bankroll spent, while for good bets not necessarily they are good at managing existing bankrolls.

Hello! I'd like to pose a question to my fellow gamblers here. Since the topic of sports betting has been gaining attention recently, allow me to ask:

So, the question is... Which are you better at: selecting the right bet or managing your bankroll?

And, how has it been going so far? Are you profitable or not, and why?

If you are good at bet selection, I don't think bankroll shouldn't be a problem because right bet will directly or indirectly makes you good, your bankroll will remain solid as you will easily find away to get back more of what you deposited initially but if even if you are wizard in bankroll and you not expert in game selection, you will lose entire bankroll and by rule of bankroll, you need to give gambling a break for a particular period of time and reevaluate on your strategy.

Gambling is not a business to me though, u played it most of the time when things are visible for me and not like I must play this and that and if I don't I wouldn't feel comfortable. I wouldn't even lie, I loss in betting but I do have profit in my own way but it's not frequently and I do monthly balance whether I have been profitable or made loss for the month.

For myself obviously I would prefer to manage the bankroll rather than looking for the right place/game, that's what I've always done so far because anyway I can't say it's the right bet, as far as my experience the name of the bet is just a game of probability so I think if the OP asks something like this then obviously bankroll management is more primary that I would choose.

I don't think we need to focus too much on finding the right place to get a win because after all the name of the bet there will be losing and winning, so for that matter maybe I will just wait for that luck to come to give me some winning amount. Winning and losing is normal but good and balanced bankroll management is more important for prevention and one of the long-term safety measures.

Wont really be needing to get a choice yet both things could be in the same effect or shall we say that it would really be just that normal that you would be needing to choose the right bet for you to be able to win up
the game on which it would really be just that in part that you would really be needing to manage your bankroll also so that you could be able to bet on multiple bets whether you would really be sticking into the same
sport that you are interested in, or would really be considering out on betting on other sports or any lines available on which you are really that knowledgeable of it.It doesnt matter as long you do have the funds
then it would really be that common sense that you would really be making out that division.

You would really be normally be sticking into those principles when you are dealing up with gambling on which it is really just that right that you should really know
on how to allocate those funds to maximize leisure time and of course you wont really be busting up yourself that so early.

So, the question is... Which are you better at: selecting the right bet or managing your bankroll?

All, if you're experienced in gambling and also gamble responsibly then there's no need for you to worry about because you always know what's best or good for you, managing your bankroll is another thing one does not need to be taught how to do so except we are not upto task in what we do while gambling.

And, how has it been going so far? Are you profitable or not, and why?

You can ask a question like the reporters, everyone will have something to say concerning this, gambling is not for making profits, but when you are good at what you do and you're satisfied with the pleasure in it, that becomes a profitable thing to you and not until you win or loose.

I’d say I’m much better at managing a bankroll than selecting the right bet because I’m no stranger to that withdrawal button. I make very small bets and sometimes get lucky with a large parlay and big profits, but most of the time I’m withdrawing funds that build up in my account because in the end, withdrawing funds is what most people have as a goal when gambling online.

I love sport betting a lot. Am not frequently betting on sort because am not so good at predictions. So i have a good freind who sends me some predictions whenever i cannot see one for myself. However, am more interested in managing my bankroll, because that is what am good at doing that making predictions on sport betting. If there is a simpler way to be at a professional level, in terms of managing bankroll and predicting bet then i would love to have both knowledge.
You know what, what you said in your first sentence are contradictory to each other. Maybe what you really mean is, you like sports alone a lot but not sports betting, because we know there is a risk on it that we can lose our money but for the many, they think having a good knowledge in different sports is an advantage. They just elevate it by placing a bet on the sports or team/player that they know the most.

Between managing a bankroll and making predictions, I think you are right that managing a bankroll is more important because we are sure with this already, but not yet in making a prediction. There is always a good chance that we can lose our bet.

Well for me i don't mind at all as long as i tried all kind of gambling , whether losing or winning but mostly im good at mines or baccarat it's like reading numbers and everytime i play i felt like im already professional playing on the field it self. I just checked my account and i already had 80% win rate so its a win for me gaining so much profit from gambling and self control too. Here's my technique if you already won some then withdraw your initial deposit and play with the winning amount on the other day and so on until you gain more profit from it if you lose then stop and wait for another day just remember tomorrow is another day to win money again.

I am focusing in managing my Bankroll because this follows my good attitude in gambling , though in the past when i am still addicted ? I only focus in Selecting right bets that ends me everything into losing because I know nothing about everything but to seek winning and chasing my losses time after time.
thankful that now I already knew gambling and I know that there is nothing good wait for me if I treat this as part of living , instead i am now letting gambling not to control me but I am the one who controls this.

I think I'm more good at managing my bankroll than picking my bets because the former is under my control. I do set aside my gambling budget and work with it, I know when to quit when I'm having a bad day or when I've exhausted my funds and I don't chase after my loses. Picking my bets? I'd say this is completely based on some level of skills and more of luck. Sadly, I've not been that successful the way I'd have wanted, though I'm not doing badly.

So, the question is... Which are you better at: selecting the right bet or managing your bankroll?
Well, I think both. Because even I have a small budget for gambling, I can managed to play longer sometimes for selecting the right bet. When i'm in losing streak, I still follow the set wager and not using a martingale strategy just to recover what I lost.
Of course you can bet more with relatively small money, you can play longer in games that have very small lowest limits and of course in the right bet or game you will be able to make return from winnings for the continuation of the bet.
And in an event like this you will have good financial stability.

Martingale is strategy that requires large amounts of money and this strategy is not recommended for recovering losses because every strategy does not guarantee success so you may also have big chance of losing in this strategy.

And, how has it been going so far? Are you profitable or not, and why?
I'm not in profit because it's not easy to win. That's why when I gamble I have less expectation and just enjoying the game.
The right thinking, and it is appropriate not to have too big expectations or ambitions in gambling to be able to win.
There is no way or strategy that really guarantees victory, but for some bets, such as sports betting not everything depends on luck, but knowledge, you just have to be able to predict as well as possible.
Fun is the best goal in gambling.

I don't spend that much time seriously in gaming but the easiest and most adaptable for me is the Sportbetting section. I spend most of my time watching sports so I have good experience in analyzing match results. So if I bet on gambling I only bet on Sportbetting and don't spend or time any other dice or bankroll. But sometimes if I get free spins then I spend some time on dice spin and rest full time I spend time on sportsbetting.
But I don't know much about profit but I don't spend time gambling considering profit. I spend my free time here mainly because I love sports and gambling as a pastime.

I'm a little hesitant to answer whether I'm better at having the right bets or managing my bankroll, because sometimes I'm on a losing streak and sometimes I bet beyond my means. However, I can say that I tend to be better at managing my bankroll because choosing the right bets is more difficult than I thought. But even so, I can't say that my gambling activities are mostly losses. In my notes, the percentage of my winnings is quite large compared to my losses, so I can say that I am quite profitable in my gambling activities.

That's impressive! Are you planning to increase your wager?

I ask this because winning is challenging, but since you're already in profit, it would be a shame not to maximize it. If you have the skills, make use of them. Show the world that while the majority of gamblers are struggling, you're one of the few consistently making a profit.

I've tried focusing on each of it one at a time. When I just started gambling, I was focused of knowing or determining the right bet but since no matter how good my analysis was, the thing is lack of assurance with the result. In the long run, it would be better to manage your bankroll well. You could win 8/10 bets today and by tomorrow you could be 0/10; it'll be a loss already. But if you have efficient betting strategy concerning the amount you would wager, your winnings yesterday won't be lessen by your losses today. It is a matter of securing your wins especially if you are not really getting a good series of bets.

So in the long run, anticipating the tendency of losing is way better than seeking for that jackpot. Just like with some sports; your defense is your best offense. The idea of being preventive of loss will eventually increase your winnings and that is simply efficiency with our bets.
I will select the right bet for the sake of managing my bankroll. There are times when I have to restrain my desire to bet if I am not sure I can win the bet. For example, in soccer betting, when strong teams such as Bayern Munich vs Real Madrid will fight on the field for victory, I will skip betting on the match for the sake of managing my bankroll.
Waiting is the best decision for me, this is what is called selecting the right bet. When I am sure I can win a bet, I will try to risk some of my money to win, I often do this habit to achieve my betting goals.
Indeed in some instances it is a combination of these two. Sometimes we are too eager to just place a bet even without confidence. It is our way of just seeking for profit (a normal assumption in gambling) but impulsive in a way.

You have the right to place a bet or not, you are also free to bet wherever you think you can win the bet. It's about choice, and the choice is yours. You can choose to place a bet on any sport that you think can win, but if you have doubts, you can skip the bet to maintain the health of your bankroll. Some gamblers are able to manage their financial management well, they can also control their emotions if doubts arise in them.
They hope to make money, but they also want to manage their finances well. Choosing the right bet is certainly an option for gamblers who are able to control their emotions because apart from wanting to win, they also want to manage their bankroll well.

So, the question is... Which are you better at: selecting the right bet or managing your bankroll?

And, how has it been going so far? Are you profitable or not, and why?
In my opinion, both are important, and their significance depends on each person's playing style. For me, prioritizing account management is crucial, especially since my playing style leans towards safety first. Typically, my winning percentage isn't high, just a bit over 50%, but compensating for this, I manage the position size uniformly. Whether I win or lose, I adhere to a specific betting ratio, not altering it just because a particular trade seems to have a high probability of success. This way, I can consistently generate profits.

You might have a method that yields a higher winning percentage, but without effective control over your account and trade size, you could end up making minimal gains when you win, yet significant losses when you face defeat. I've seen this scenario play out frequently. The best approach is to strike a balance between both aspects, but for me, mastering the control of my account is already a success.

I exceed at managing my bankroll. I can control my bank roll and not my bet despite sometime my well thought out analysis. This is one gambling achievement that I am super proud of. 1% to 5% per week and nothing more.

It has been great. On some months I am profitable while on some others, I am not. But overall I am more profitable.

TBH, in the past few weeks I have rarely been able to win from my bets and this is all because I want to make small bets with big odds with parlay bets to get big results and maybe I look very reckless but rest assured I use a budget of no more than $5 for parlay bet. the reason I do this is not about managing money or anything, it's just that I want to break the record with predictions that I do independently to try to get a big win from the results of my predictions, even though they always fail, I keep trying but I always fail in one or two matches.

but sometimes if I am in a relaxed state of mind I just try betting on a single bet with a bet amount of $50 for one match just to get a little win even though it's risky but thats the budget I've prepared for betting on football. because sometimes I get bored of trying big odds and never winning and every now and then I want to get a win or you could say a win of $50 beforehand I will use it to try my luck with a parlay bet.
maybe all this is too risky but there is fun in trying to bet on sportsbetting, predicting looking for opportunities to win all the matches that I put in my betting slip and I'm sure one day luck will definitely come.

Betting the right way does not guarantee that you can manage your money and save money on betting because there are no matches that can really be known for certain to be able to give you win, maybe there are but with odd odds that don't make sense.
When there is match like Manchester City vs Burnley and the home game belongs to Manchester City then the odds will probably only be 1.1 or 1.2 for the favorite team and would you bet there.
The profit if you win is very small and you cannot get satisfying pleasure or adrenaline from the win, but the choice is only in your hands.

Bets that are uncertain or difficult to predict are indeed dangerous and carry greater risks, but there are betting options in each match so you can choose which one has the chance to win the match.
For example, double chance, goals for both team or even handicap.
One of the best ways is to manage money not about the right bets.

How does someone know when they get lucky, chose the wrong bet but won regardless and therefore have a strong bankroll? It all begins with the question what a right bet is. If a winning bet is a right bet, any irrational bet that ultimately won and boosted the bankroll, the whole point of this topic is getting undermined.

And if someone concludes that they are good at the selecting the right bets, there would be some implication that the bankroll management should also at least be fine.

In a game of pure chance I think the bottom line should be that no matter how well you manage either your bets or your bankroll, in the long run it is a losing game.

With my penchant for losing because I always go for the higher odds in betting, I'm definitely saying I'm good at managing my bankroll and so far, I am not that bad when it comes to profit or loss because I win some of those bets so the losses I've incurred overtime are sometimes offset by a huge amount if I win the high odds low chance of winning bets, I'd say that the gap in my losses and profit isn't that wide because even after I spend a lot to celebrate the win, I can still have enough to refill my gambling funds for the next betting sessions and such. Maybe I should try not to be greedy next time and just go for the safest bet or rather just do an arbitrage betting.

If you are to give someone advice about gambling addiction what do you think it's the most important over all other advice? I think you can never fade managing your bank roll, this is what will put you in check and avoid going over your boundary, stay withing a amount range and don't ever gamble more than the amount.

Apart from having a source of income which also is a very important advice I believe that managing your bank roll is also very important, if you don't have a source of income you can't be able to risk money on gambling because that's risking what you can't afford to lose.

As for finding the right bet I think it's almost impossible, but it's not always easy, and games do change at times too which can also result in losses, instead of trying so hard to win, why not try to manage your bankroll instead?

I don't know what you mean by selecting the right bet as I believe that's an impossible feat to achieve in gambling. We all have luck to place out selection upon because I believe if we had a way to actually select the right bet always tend everyone would be at a profit end in the game of gambling. So I think managing your bankroll would be the preferred option as one could achieve a win when the chance comes but that's if you can manage your bankroll till that moment comes.
Perhaps @OP means that with the right bet, it is a bet that we know the sport well so that we can place bets on teams that we really know and have the knowledge to choose a team that can win. Indeed, we all have luck in making choices, but it must be based on the knowledge we have so that we can place bets on teams that have a greater chance of winning. But we do have to be able to manage the money to place bets and only use the money we can afford. This is to avoid losing large amounts where we will regret placing bets with large amounts of money. If we can accept whatever the result is and have determined the amount of money, we can immediately place a bet based on the results of the analysis we have carried out.

I am not a pro gambler. I didn't place any bets in the last couple of weeks. But, I placed some bets on Premier League matches when the season started. I was good at placing bets or you could say picking the right team. But, I am the worst at managing the bankroll. Let's say I placed ten bets and won nine of them. The last loss bet will drain my entire balance. Sometimes it happens. We can lose many games but losing your entire balance in a single match isn't a good thing. Most of the time I get over confidence and place max bet on a game and then lose it.

I don't know what you mean by selecting the right bet as I believe that's an impossible feat to achieve in gambling. We all have luck to place out selection upon because I believe if we had a way to actually select the right bet always tend everyone would be at a profit end in the game of gambling. So I think managing your bankroll would be the preferred option as one could achieve a win when the chance comes but that's if you can manage your bankroll till that moment comes.

To be successful in sports betting, you must be very good at both selecting your bets and managing your bankroll. There is no 100% winning strategy out there so losses will always occur irrespective of how careful you are. This mean that if you are good at selecting the right bets but fails in managing the bankroll, few losses will damage your assets completely.

What makes a successful gambler is how much of losses that can be mitigated while still remaining in profits. Losses are inevitable and must be integrated in the decision making process. Those who neglect this reality always end up being depressed when losses eventually happens. Therefore, it is important to selected the best bets while managing the bankroll efficiently as this is what lead to success.

I have incorporated tight risk management procedure in my play system. By this, I set out maximum I can risk per bet and per day and when the limit is hit, I take a break for the day to try again other days.

So, the question is... Which are you better at: selecting the right bet or managing your bankroll?

Between the two I can only say base on my experience, though I can say that I had some win streak sometimes but overall I am still not profitable. So with that, it's obvious that the bankroll management is my weakness, probably because I'm not so focus in sports betting, otherwise I would put up a good bankroll, something that I could use for long term betting.

Some gamblers doesn't understand what bankroll is, they think it's just an amount of money they can risk on a given day but in sports betting pro, bankroll is considered as a capital, and just like when running a business, capital has to be use in developing the business to make it profitable.

Now, if we see gambling as an entertainment, the word "profit" is hard to understand.

I can say I'm good at picking the right bet but my problem is sometimes I go so aggressive. Just like other gamblers, we want to make big money in gambling so we don't manage our bankroll properly. For successful sports bettors, they have a decent bankroll and they'll be happy if they are up at least 100% at the end of the season like the NBA, but us gamblers, we are so reckless, we want 1000% return in just a short period of time.
What do you people mean by bank roll, in tye aspect selecting a game I do pick up my games accordingly and I have bet befitting and have issues with my bet, it depends on what we selecting during, but only I'm having trying understand in statement of op and as respondents is the aspect of bankroll, so that is why I need people to tell the important of bankroll,

I guess you need to make a research more, familiarize the terms that are usually use in sports betting so you'll understand more what you are doing. Actually it's not complicated if you take time to research, it's important that you know the basics so when you want to dig more, you'll be able to improve your learnings.

managing your bankroll?IMO, this should start first. Not only gambling but any field related to money should be considered in terms of how to manage the owner's finances, because when we participate in that field, the risks are zero. We can't avoid financial pressure, which makes it easier for us to get stressed and make more mistakes.

selecting the right betAnd this is like the journey of gaining experience because for a completely new person, they will not be able to realize what is the best choice, there is only learning and paying the price for mistakes as well as awareness. That will lead to improved results over time.

Although with gambling I always maintain a fixed stance that this is just a lot of tools that we can take advantage of to relax, I aim to increase wealth, which for me is not so important. So I have no reason to keep a running tally of whether the bets are losing money or gaining a lot of profit, because I basically see those things intertwined through every decision I make.

I prefer to manage my money because to be honest I'm not very good at choosing bets correctly, sometimes the results don't go our way and that's what I worry about if that happens.
So it's better for me to choose to manage my money well if I want to gamble using only a small amount of money and if I lose I don't really regret having lost money.
And the progress so far I feel is still safe, indeed sometimes the profits are only small because I bet with a small amount of money and obviously I don't feel sorry when I lose.

I try to be good at both options.
Obviously choosing the right bet is essential to making a profit... only with money management you can achieve 0

I also try to bet in this case at the best time possible (i.e. a mix of higher odds = greater probability that that specific event will occur).

I think I'm not the only one here who is confused about choosing between these two options, because in my opinion they are all equally important. Every gamblers definitely wants the right bet to increase finances and make a profit in gambling, but that doesn't mean choosing the right bet means being careless in betting. I thinks when someone make a bet they have to be good at managing expenses so they have to think about the risks too, while managing your own finances is very important otherwise we will lose a lot of money betting on gambling so as a responsible gamblers you have to be able to managed your finances but also get opportunities in betting so that get a profit, in my opinion both are really needed by gamblers Wink

It is difficult for players when they are in the casino to say what they are good at and what they are bad at, because the games have their level of difficulty, and that is something that can be seen as any normal gesture, when I am in a casino I know that To win I must be lucky, I can have many strategies, many tactics but I need to do things well, because if I start looking for what I am good at, I can say that I like poker, and I don't know if I am good, maybe It could be that if I like it a lot I would say that I'm good, but to be good I would have to earn a lot of money, and that hasn't happened to me yet, that's why every time I do a type of thing that refers to being To win I have to risk a lot of money.

And I'm not good at risking a lot of money, because when I do I usually lose almost everything, and then I'm left without being able to play for a long time, that's why when I go to play I put in little because it's likely that I'll lose, and no one likes that. Let your money go to a casino and leave empty-handed.

So, the question is... Which are you better at: selecting the right bet or managing your bankroll?

Well, if a person is choosing games they don't know and loses money, if a person is choosing markets they don't know and loses money, then it doesn't matter what type of bankroll management that person applies, nothing will work, they will go bankrupt. For example, a person has a bankroll of 10$ and decides that he will make 10 bets in which he will place 1$ on each bet, with this type of vision this person has good bankroll management, but in the first game this person loses 1$, no second game loses 1$, so in total this person has already lost 2$ and then loses in 8 more games, in the end that person lost all 10$, ended up bankrupt and even if that person puts in another 10$

it won't work again, because the problem isn't in bankroll management, the problem is in the fact that that person doesn't know how to analyze the games and place bets well so that they can win, but you need to be very careful, because even if that person If he managed to get all the bets right he would still go bankrupt sooner or later, so the person needs to be aware that the reason why he must be good at bankroll management and good at analyzing the games and so that when he puts the money in the casino is that is also intended for fun, this money does not run out quickly and he does not put more money

If a person keeps thinking that he will win a lot of money at the casino, then he is fooling himself, if he thinks that when he has good bankroll management and manages to get a lot of games right, he will make a profit and will come out with a profit, then that person is fooling himself. deceiving. We all end up with losses at the end of the day, but it is necessary to delay the time of losses, if a person puts 100$ in the casino and has good bankroll management and manages to get the games right, then that person will be able to play with the 100$ for a long time without make new deposits.

And, how has it been going so far? Are you profitable or not, and why?

I'm not in profit because gambling is not for profit, it's just to be played for fun, so I play for fun just

It is hard to select the right bet because gambling is a game of luck, and I have been losing and I  have also won but once in a while. I had difficulties to manage my bankroll in the past and I got addicted but after some years I was able to control my gambling activities.

Managing my bankroll is what saves me from loss because I lose more than I win. This was why I had to have a gambling budget to help me reduce the risk of chasing my loss and gambling more than I can afford to lose.

I have not betted seriously in any match in a while so I cannot say I am certainly good at selecting the right bet at the time being. On the other hand, since bankroll involves all kind of games and gambling in general I can say I have got some experience managing bankroll so I can get the correct equilibrium/mix between the seeking of thrill and the time of the session.
I have never been in profits with comes to both betting and gambling, by the way, so there would be a lot to improve in case I decided to come back to action and started to put my money on football/soccers matches.

Also, I believe both of those skills are important to get profit out sportbetting, but I would dare to say that ability to select and point to the right matches and teams to bet on is slighty more important than bankroll management. Sure, not having much management over one's money can lead to rapid losses, but the losses are never intended to be catastrophic if one has a good eye to take those opportunies.  Wink

I think I'm more on the "selecting the right bet". I don't have a well-managed bankroll when I'm gambling because I really just want to enjoy and maybe if I'm lucky, cash out early. Most of the time, I noticed that I got myself into the streak of losing. I just want to get over with. I'm not profitable in gambling.
If you really want ro enjoy gambling, take care of your bankroll and do not use any substantial amount to gamble. Just be using little amount of money. From the little amount of money, divide it into 100 places and use each to gamble and you will have longer time to gamble than using higher amount of money to gamble. You will see the fun than chasing money. People that do not have good gambling money management are not having fun and they are only going for money than entertainment.

I'm better at managing bankroll. Even though I've lost more than won in gambling, the situation isn't out of control, exactly because I know how to manage the bankroll properly. If you are good at it, you are safe to gamble without any major issues in your life. And to say the truth, it's not that hard. You just have to set limits and respect them, while being rational all the time. That is, supressing the temptations and impulses that lead you to continue gambling beyond your limits or chasing losses.

I believe that if you are good at managing bankroll, you are a skilled gambler, but if you are good only at picking the right bets while managing your bankroll poorly, you aren't a skilled gambler. To take care of your funds is more important than selecting the right bets.

And if you are good at both aspects, then I would say you are a perfect gambler! Grin

Managing my bankroll would be simple for me, since I am not that fond into online gambling or casinos, but I do play, and I can just do that if it is my leisure time. For me it is better to set a budget for your betting activities and stick to it. I believe only play money that you can afford to lose. I always feel unlucky when choosing the right bet, and I easily get pressure and disappointed whenever I started to bet in gambling site before that’s why. Because when you bet, you need to understand all the strategies and the flow of the game but sadly luck was not on my side.  Sad I already learn my lesson and that is to avoid chasing losses, I observe that a lot of gamblers are greedy I mean people should not get emotionally driven and start placing larger bets in attempt to recoup their losses quickly. It is important to stick to my rules and remain discipline.

Both of these skills are important for successful sports betting, and I admire those who have the talent and positive critical thinking. It's not enough to simply kick winners, you also need to manage your bankroll effectively to ensure long term-profitability.  Wink

I say going for the one that you can control the most, which in my case is managing my bankroll. When I choose what the right bet is, I oftentimes hold to my biases and heuristics and even go so far as to bet over what I initially thought, especially for games "I'm positive" I have a good chance of winning. This is not something you should follow since most gamblers fall for this honey trap without realizing they're on a slow descent to gambling addiction. What I instead do is manage my bankroll, thanks to this strategy that I found whilst exploring this section of the forum. I basically just stop playing after 3-wins or 3 losses, which ensures that either I end the day on a positive bankroll, or I reduce my chances of losing even more.

The gambler who want to do gambling for the longer period, the essential one is managing your bankroll to do gambling in upcoming months. If the gambler who doesn’t have the capacity to hold funds and manage their bankroll.Such gamblers can do the quit of the gambling and move to the other games without any involvement of money.Like free game available in the google, this will save you to become the loan asking guy from your friends.Currently I was in some profit in the gambling,in the past I had made huge loss for a month. After building my own tactics, the output for the game was good now in gambling.

I think that a gambler has to be careful of both. Both taking care of your balance and making the right decisions has a big impact on the outcomes. It's very easy to go bust if you make very risky bets for example. And then, if your compulsive you can mismanage your bankroll and lose even more than you can afford.

So in conclusion both are very bad practices if you mismanage them.

If I can do both, why wouldn't I choose both. But unfortunately, I'm still not very good at betting, so I often lose, but I quite enjoy betting. So that is not a problem. And at this time I always hone my skills and knowledge in analyzing so that I can choose the right bet.

But in financial management, I think, I am quite good at doing financial management. So that in my betting activities do not cause a significant loss. I always bet according to my ability, and my readiness to lose. The reason I prioritize good financial management over choosing the right bet. I prioritize this because without good financial management, no matter how much victory we get in the betting or gambling activities we do, it means nothing at all, because it cannot be utilized as well as possible.

What do you mean by selecting the right bet? Is this even real? Because winning is what matters as a gambler, even if you bet on games you knew nothing about you can still be lucky and win some money, and if you bet on games you are very familiar with you can still lose too, so there is no such thing as selecting the right thing to me.

Every gamblers need luck to progress in gambling but unfortunately gambling is programmed to keep you on the edge of your sit and keep drowning in the sea of lust with gambling, the more time you spend the more money you will lose, gambling is automatically a losing game.

The only thing we can do as gamblers is to limit how we take risk on something like gambling that's programmed to make you lose all your money, it's always to see people spending so hard on gambling thinking its their ticket to financial freedom.

The right answers to this questions is that no gambler is always perfect when it comes to bet predictions both soccer games and other slots.
However, I am a football lover and I do say some times I win and sometimes I lose because there is no one in the gambling world that is so perfect when it comes to predictions.
Am happy for other gamblers win and other gamblers are also happy for my winning, although I normally gamble online with my cellphone but not all the time, most times I normally follow my partner to a game hall too but we learn how to control the habit of regular gambling.
I don't gamble when I haven't settled personal things, like bills and all the rest of them, it is only when I am free from bills that I gamble.
It is difficult to chose the right bets but easy to choose games that can easily cut a bet.

Selecting a bet is indirectly related to managing the bankroll, because if we set high bet and your bankroll will surely be in danger.
I am good in both but only when my mind is fresh and I don't have any comfortability, in normal mood I can manage everything right and can stop at right time when I am losing.
I am not profitable because it become very hard sometimes and busting it all, so I just play will little money so I cannot make my losses bigger and don't gamble everyday and think of gambling everyday.

So, according to your version, what is it like, and how, is it profitable or not.
Referring to your question, the answer is relative and depends on a gambler's own perspective. personally, I don't know what other gamblers do regarding their bets on sports. but for me personally, there is no right or most ideal answer. Maybe, I would have had a different answer if asked a decade ago. but right now, it doesn't even occur to me like the question you asked. I mean this, I bet on football because I like this type of betting. It's not without reason that I tend to prefer football, because I also liked playing football, especially during my childhood. So, sport or football has become a part of my life.

Now let's discuss the betting side, choosing the right bet is a must if you want to get the expected results. Choosing the right bet is not based on random choices, but selecting the matches presented in each league. and this is a job that is a little troublesome, because like it or not we have to spend time on it. researching and analyzing is a must, let the final result of the match determine the rest.
Do I manage money in sports betting, specifically no. However, I have my own size, or in other words, the bankroll that we usually set. if I lose, it means I'm not lucky at all. if I win, I can put it away, leaving it to bet on another match. The point is, there is no certainty for me personally. because of the many matches presented, I always adhere to my principles. bet on the match that has the most ideal odds. Even then, single matches, 3 matches are more than enough, as for other options, maybe multibet could be an option for entertainment. Regarding winning or losing, it is part of the risk and I don't need to publish it to the public.

Hmm... I think bankroll management is a very simple thing that anyone can master either by simply accepting certain algorithms "on faith" or by watching a couple of videos on YouTube (if reading articles is too tiring).
So I would say that I'm better at the first thing. I don't have full statistics of all my bets, but I think I often find "skewed" bets where the bookmakers got it wrong and where there is more value than most average bettors.
Naturally, this doesn’t help to be in the black (you have to be honest and admit that distance and margin win over absolutely everyone), but at least I often win in polls and if we talk about the implementation of free bets, then I’m definitely in the black (I definitely won more than if I just sum up all free bets). Quite funny, but with cash bets the situation is worse because it is psychologically more difficult to be bold when making a bet when you bet your own money.

I'm very good at managing my bankroll more than I'm good at making betting selections. I don't joke with my bankroll for one day, and not for one day will I even want to break the limit, but in times of sports betting, I have made countless errors in deciding which game to play and which game not to bet on.

So to me, this is not even up to an argument or what I should think twice about before I will know which one I'm best at. I select my sports games based on the team that is against the other, and sometimes I allow my love and support for the team to affect my judgement. It's only in some cases that I take it upon myself to bet that another team should win against the club that I fan.

And, how has it been going so far? Are you profitable or not, and why?
I could say that both things are really just that connected into each other on which you wont really be able to make your bets to be right if you wont really be able to manage your bankroll well
on which means that whenever on the time that you do reach out into a point on which you are really that making some good bets then we can assume that you are already that in the moment
that you do already know on how to manage your bankroll on which i could say that it is really just hat right or something that would intertwined or something that comes together.
This is why it would be better that you should really be able to have a good grasps on both things so that you would really be able to make yourself that having a good run
when it comes to sports betting and at the same time you are lessening the risks on getting wrecked.

I prefer to manage my money so that I don't lose a lot, and so far, it has gone well. I can also avoid losing a lot by limiting my money so that I can control how much money I use for gambling. And so far, I am still fine with using the money for gambling and not disturbing other fund allocations. Even though I still rarely win, that's okay because I think it's only a matter of time before I can win. So I will continue to gamble with limits on money and time to remain in control of myself and control everything well so that I can avoid any problems or gambling addiction problems.

the OP can also add poll on this query so we know the pulse of the gamblers in this forum.

on my end, i believe, i am better at managing my bankroll at the moment. though there were times that i let myself dictated by my desire to bet all possible betting lines that i think i have had high chance of winning, i noticed that i was on the losing end if i will not stop after my winning targets. because for a time, i even had my excel file for the money lines that i will bet, the odds, and the actual results - my losses and winnings. so at the end of those long list of my bets, i will know if i gained or not.

but i observed that it really consumed me a lot of time doing all these. so i stopped, and i just bet what i feel i have better chance and the amount i used is i know i can very well afford at the moment of my betting. some practices are nice, however, the sustenance of what you are doing is the real problem. we can't expect ourselves to stick to the good practices but as much as possible, always assess of yourself as no one will do it for you. keeping tab of your own well-being will greatly help in managing your bankroll or emotions towards this activity.

What do you people mean by bank roll,

Here you go.

Quote
What is a bankroll in sports betting?

A bankroll is the amount of money you have set aside for sports betting.

This is important because if you start with an initial bankroll of $1,000 and you lose it all, you should probably take a break. It's a method to abide by so you don't go overboard and dip into your life's savings.

The best way to manage your bankroll is betting a certain amount of money per bet. For example, it's wise to bet one to five units (or one to five percent of your bankroll) on every wager. That's a helpful rule because if you start with $1,000 and bet 10 units or $100 on a team you really like and they lose, your money could go down the drain fast.

Of course, this differs if you plan on gambling on a daily basis or just for the weekend. If you go to the sportsbook with your friends and are okay with throwing away a set amount of money, bankrolls and units don't often matter. However, if your plan is to slowly grow your bankroll, it's best to limit the amount you bet, no matter how confident you are.

nowadays i'm pretty good at managing my bankroll as opposed to choosing which bets are right for me. honestly, choosing a bet is quite difficult in my opinion, because i need to determine which teams i want to bet on and analyze the game from various sources. though i'm quite sure about what i'm betting on, unfortunately sometimes it doesn't match the predictions i made end up losing money.

maybe so far i can say that my winning percentage is not too high which makes me quite annoyed, but fortunately i am quite good at managing my bankroll so my financial condition is not too disturbed by my bad betting conditions.

I think both are good and necessary for each other in gambling. I am happy with choosing the right bet, but on the one hand, when gambling, I also have to be able to manage my finances well. In the end, many people can't manage their money well or limit their budget, making gamblers even wilder to the point of going overboard. limits and also cannot control emotions, resulting in bad habits to the point of addiction.

Development in what limits, in my opinion gambling is not just about making a profit or not, I make gambling just a matter of entertainment, so I don't think whether I make a profit or not when gambling, enjoying the game is something that cannot be measured by money and big wins, for me playing gambling is something that is fun for me to be there for a few hours every weekend.  Wink

yes you are right, many people can't manage their finances properly so they don't realize that a lot of money has been lost just because of gambling, and of course this makes a loss for themselves. they gamble out of bounds whether they realize it or not they've lost a lot of budget for gambling that doesn't produce much profit and can't even cover the losses they've gotten. this needs to be avoided because I myself am concerned about people who are willing to spend a lot of money just because of gambling which is said to promise victory. it will get.

It doesn't matter if we really want to gamble as long as we can manage the finances then it won't be a serious problem. I myself apply that, where I have restrictions on gambling by setting gambling time and budget for gambling.

For me it depends on certain condition since there are times that I'm not good on managing my bankroll and just want to bet according to what are the running events also the teams which I think give me more higher chance to win. But sometimes I usually settle up for small amount only especially if I find current games so boring that's why for me there's no definite or accurate answer to this question since it will matter depends on my mood.

So far I think there's 50% chance that I win since usually I bet on familiar sports league and also 50% chance to lose since game result is always unpredictable that's why I get that stats. Although I'm not really counting since I don't want to get stress on situation since sometimes if you read or take a peak on your win lose record it makes you feel sad about the outcome of what you are doing on your bets.

Well, I guess that most of us do have that not proportion bets with wins and losses that we're having. I'll take a guess that the majority of us have a bigger percentage rate with the losses than of the wins, right? Someone who's good at managing bankroll but not good in selecting right bets because when you say that you're good at selecting bets then you have to win it as well. If you're not winning it then those bets aren't selected well. And for me, that's what it means to be a good selector of bets, the win must be there.

And, how has it been going so far? Are you profitable or not, and why?
Not at all.
I've been into esports lately and can't be said to be a good one. I just have that love for it and likes how it goes in the scene but I am not an expert on the betting side and prefer not to be called one. Because it's always unpredictable in sports betting. While you get some info and ideas on what might happen, sometimes they're just too exhausting even if you did the right way of analyzing before the game commences with all the news and details you can search but still, with some clutch, the game changes and ends oppositely to the bet you make.

I haven't turned a profit with either sports gambling or casino games lately.  That said, I've definitely lost more money overall playing casino games than betting on sports. There's that temptation of going for the big payout instead of protecting your bankroll.  I think thats an issue almost all gamblers grapple with though - we get seduced by those ideas of striking it rich quick and end up trying to make giant scores instead of playing a sustainable reasoned long game.

I guess we need to be realistic all the time.

Let's make a figure as an example. Assuming you ra playing today and you have a bankroll of $100 just today, with your small bankroll, you aimed to turned that into $1000. So I like to ask, isn't it realistic or not?

My answer is, it's possible to turn that $100 to $1000 but not so realistic because of the chance of it happening, so when the chance is slim, the result will  likely be a lose. Unlike when you have a decent bankroll and you want to turn it to x10 overtime, that is more reasonable and realistic.

I am very good at two things in gambling, one is me walking away after I win and me never risking more than I can afford to lose in gambling.

I remember the last time I won, I use $5 to win $2200 and there was also a time I use $25 to win $1500, I walked away immediately and I used the money to pay my cable bills for the next one year in advance, this happened in 2022.

Not knowing when to take your leave is the biggest disease you can have in gambling, this whole gambling idea was never created to make anyone rich, it's created to get you hooked for more and keep playing over and over for massive money.

This is you being so lucky in gambling, and I'd say congratulations to that.

However, if we are into long term success, betting $5 to win $2200 isn't ideal as not everyone can have the same luck as yours. Maybe for those who are consistently gambling, they would experience more which they are good at, whether picking correct bets or managing a bankroll, because these two should work together, unfortunately not everyone can achieve the two.

I'm not really sure about the answer because I've done both and never analyzed which is better of the two as well as when talking about profits because I never recorded or paid attention carefully, I only know that I've made withdrawals as well as deposits, and because of sports betting It's always challenging in my opinion so I will continue to do it even if I don't make a profit because so far it's still limited to the money I can afford to lose so that when I have to lose it doesn't affect my feelings or finance because losing and winning are part of gambling that must be accepted well.

So, the question is... Which are you better at: selecting the right bet or managing your bankroll?.
Personally I am better of managing my gambling bankrolls because I believe that winning in gambling is more leaned on the lucky days or gamblers grace (luck) to win.
So chasing after a right bet without considering the bankroll could erupt an adjective bankrupt.
As long as I know, money in my bank account is an assured achievement other than that of gambling that is at a highly level of 99% possibilities to be lost.

And, how has it been going so far? Are you profitable or not, and why?
I am profitable in managing my bankroll because I could set-up a gambling budget and maintains a responsible and reputable gambling.

Personally I place more relevance on my bankroll because that's the only way to still remain in business, if I run out of funds, I definitely wouldn't be able to continue gambling so I try to manage my bankroll and know when not to continue and when to stop, I set daily target and budget which I try not to exceed regardless the out comes for the day.

Picking the right option is really great and give a good sense of satisfaction to the gambler when they attained such level of accuracy with their picks, but then gambling is full of too many uncertainties so you can never be too careful or very accurate in most cases as it is a game of probability, but if your bankroll is well protected, you can still stay in business regardless of the outcome. For a fact bit skill if very important so as to enable profitability, managing your bankroll properly and been able to make correct picks will keep you profitable in gambling, you are at a better advantage when you can do both but personally I'm good and managing my bankroll a d it has so far kept me profitable and helped me stay longer in the game.

It's giving me a realization as of now, I think I'm good at managing my bank roll, because I can manage my spending habits and I always set an allocation on how much should I spend in placing bets. Am I profitable by doing it? Yes because once I won,  I immediately save money for my gambling activity then the rest is for my own savings.

I can say, I'm good at selecting the right bet than managing my bankroll. Choosing the right bet is all about statistics and analyzing the records/data when selecting the right bet that's why I find it easy and for most people. Well, the same with bankroll management, most people find it easy as they only need to set an amount or percentage from their bankroll on every bet they make. However, this requires to be a disciplined gambler.  Which is not I am not good at. I still find myself to continue to lose my patience sometimes.

When I started gambling i didn’t know so much about it and i didn’t know the capabilities of most clubs especially smaller clubs that I don’t get to watch. Sports betting was my favorite betting game but uptil now i still find it difficult to select the right bet, i only win once in a while maybe after like 7 trials.

But i know one thing i am very good at is managing my bankroll, i am so good at controlling my emotions that i only use what i dedicate for gambling no matter the outcome and when i win i immediately withdraw all my winnings and make deposit for the next time. When it gets to my funds i don’t let greed get the best of me but in selecting the right bet i sometimes get greedy for odds and it affects my winning rates.

IMO, both of these factors should be balanced during the betting process because any factor can affect the result. Even though I'm not a good player, frankly I lose more than I win so I can somewhat see the cause of my failures. But I'm still inclined to seek entertainment, so the results really aren't that important to me. In this field, as I understand it, it also requires a lot of learning, if you just play by your normal instincts, you will receive more pain.

selecting the right bet and managing your bankroll , matter how much these rules are followed, the results are a reflection of the extent to which the player can apply them.

I am definitely better at the latter, managing my bankroll is more easy for me than picking the right bet to place my money on. When I compare myself to my friends, I know that I am not the best person to place profitable bets. A few of my friends are quite successful in football betting because they follow the league into the smalles detail. I am more of a big picture kind of guy and only really follow my home team, which makes it a bid hard to give accurate predictions and place my bets accordingly. However, remaining in full control of my money is for me the key to remain profitable. Learning how to control your bankroll is what saved me from not going broke over the years of my gambling history. I think it came from the strong focus on poker in my early days on gambling, because you need to have a close eye on your bankroll all the time and adapt quickly. You can only move up the stakes when making money, and as soon as you lose money you need also lower the stakes again. There will be losing streaks and we need to have the capital to survive it.

Managing the bankroll is for me more challenging than choosing the right bet. Selecting the right bet is too easy for me as it will only requires history or records of performances to analyse and that may give me an idea which one to place a bet. Managing our own bankroll is complicated most specially if we are having no limits and discipline. Sometimes emotions will dictate what to do that could lead to mismanagement or mishandling of funds. More example about bankroll management is that our priorities are also the factors we have to rethink and make critical decisions.

So, the question is... Which are you better at: selecting the right bet or managing your bankroll?
Personally, I will clearly prioritize the point of money management because no matter how good the bet you choose, it doesn't necessarily guarantee victory.
But if you can manage your finances well, you can be said to be winner because we are unlikely to experience big losses or lose a lot of money.
We may be able to get the right and good bets and even win the bets, but if we don't have money management then the winnings will also be in vain because they will definitely end up gambling again without having anything left.
After all money management will be more difficult than getting the right bets and all professional gamblers will definitely be able to understand things like this.

Quote
And, how has it been going so far? Are you profitable or not, and why?
Of course, having good money management can also provide good development because I don't experience bigger losses and I don't feel disappointed, let alone having to suffer defeat because the amount of money has already been set to be received if it is lost.
Meanwhile, will definitely get the benefits because when win, can decide to take some of the withdrawal so that can enjoy that amount.
If gambler has the right approach, they can make good decisions for themselves and they know how to organize everything they do in gambling so they can get the positive side.

I think that the most gamblers are looking at their bankroll because once you deposit, you know that you have put a big risk on your capital that you are going to lose your money already. So for me, it should be selecting the right bet, no question about it.

We don't worry about our bankroll, and as long as we bet and win some, we can extend that bankroll as long as we can. Of course, there are also the element of luck here, and that we might not last with that bankroll. But at least you have control of what you bet and what you deem can make you more money then go for it. Instead of looking at your capital and that might put more pressure on you to make the correct bet.
What that is most important is to manage your bank roll, not the bet you go for. There can be a match between a strong and a weak team, I may go for draw if I know that the strong team can lose. It would be surprising that the match might ended draw, although the chance is small, but with big odd. The fact that some people will go for the stronger club to win but yet losing money makes selecting matches and games to be of less relevance at times, but to manage your bank roll by spending just little on gambling is far more better.

If I'm one of the two, I would say I'm on the managing your bankroll side, because every bet and gambling I do is all recorded for me to keep track of my earnings. For example, when I have allocated capital for my gambling games and betting games, all of the transactions I do are recorded, and the either win or lose amount is recorded. I do this thing for me to keep track of what's happening to my capital, whether it's earning or not. From that, I could manage my capital and either stop or play games that have a higher chance of winning, but if at some point the whole capital burns, then only that allocated money will be the one who's going to lose. It's like I'm setting up a wall to limit my spending so I can manage my bankroll efficiently. because I'm confident enough to say that I'm a responsible gambler who has discipline and good management of my money.

I'd say managing my bankroll is what I'm currently good at, as it's completely under my control. Unlike predicting games, that always changes to negative results before the game is over. Judging from the recent results of big teams losing their games. Many players lose their predictions and don't understand why a team like Arsenal won't be able to score a single goal. I'd play clubs like Arsenal to score, not to win, but the game results don't fit into any of those categories. Imagine millions of people who would stake Arsenal to score. They'll all lose their money. So, since the money management depends on the gambler, it's better to bet a small amount on such games than wagering too much hoping to win big. However, the regret comes when the team ends up winning the game. The gambler will feel greedy, and think he would have won bigger rewards if he wagered more money. Sometimes the risk is worth it, and another way around it's safe to manage our funds. Instead of losing out on a game that'll consume a huge portion of our savings.

Managing my bankroll I would say, but it's better to know these two, it cost nothing to get used to these two, unless you don't like any sports which makes any data analysis useless for someone like you, so far I have some share of losses and some share of wins, I spent most times on other casino games than sports, unless it's my favourite sport game in action.

It's harder to always select the right bet, it's like saying you will always win, so I think that's almost impossible, even if you choose the right bet you don't know what the end result of the game will be, so what makes it the right bet anyway?

Managing your bankroll is the best solution for every gambling activities, if done right you will be split from the stupid desires in gambling and you will avoid unnecessary risks that can cost you your life goals, there is never going to be anything that beats managing your bankroll, you will be in total control and avoid ruining your own life.

I'm better on selecting the right bet than managing the bankroll. Everyone of us here probably are challenge with the bankroll management since most of us does not considering sports betting seriously, I mean we don't do it on a regular basis, we just gamble to have fun, that's it.

As a gambler who like to try to be investing in sports, I watched a lot of youtube videos to help me understand everything, including the how to analyze, manage the bankroll and stay discipline,... but... there's always this big "but" beacuse the execution is the most challenging part and I usually fail.

What that is most important to me is my bankroll. It is just 5% of my weekly income. I do not take take that as a joke at all and I do not go beyond 5% weekly. In fact, it can be as low as 2% sometimes.

And, how has it been going so far? Are you profitable or not, and why?
I have answered this type of question like two days ago, that I do not have the time to calculate my profit and loss so far it is a small amount of money that I can afford to lose.

I'm not quite sure which one to answer; I'd say a little bit of both. I generally am a little picky on my bets, taking time to consider how much I'm going to bet and with what odds, on what game, etc., while also being a little reserved to not exceed a certain budget. I try not to keep a large amount of money on my account; something like $50 to $100 seems okay, while it's usually on the lower side ($50-$60). I always withdraw any earnings and stick to leaving some funds on my account.

That way, even if I get irritated and emotional after losing a few bets, because it'll happen eventually and we're humans, it's not always easy to control your feelings, especially if you're not having a good day, it's inconvenient for me to bet more money. I wouldn't go through the trouble of depositing more funds; I'd have let off steam by then and wouldn't need to play anymore at that point.

Hello! I'd like to pose a question to my fellow gamblers here. Since the topic of sports betting has been gaining attention recently, allow me to ask:

Its' very hard to answer mate, I think both should be present if you are a gambler. I mean, you see some good bets along the way, and you have to carefully choose which one to bet because of your small bankroll. So as per experience, you need to really pick one in order to be profitable.

So for me it always depends on the situation, but if you are a wise gambling, I think selecting the right bet will be your first priority as it will increased your bankroll overtime. It could be a single bet with medium to high odds or parlay bet.

Honest answer. I am not in profit right now in both sports betting and casino games.
But I do think I have more losses in casinos than it is with sports betting.
You can see me mostly in the NBA betting thread and most of the time I am 1/3, 2/4, or worse 1/4 in my bet results. It's not easy to make a perfect bet anymore either I lack the spreads or I got greedy and took the highest handicap that is available. NBA suddenly got predictable because of the changes in the rosters and rookies had been stepping up their games making other known weak teams become stronger that is why the spreads are harder to reach.
Then, I have player props as my side bet which I usually don't share. Not that I don't want to but because it's too long that it might fill my whole reply with it. Cheesy

Despite that, I still think I am better off with sports betting. Casino games are so hungry that they swallow my wallet immediately, winning moments are too rare and because of that I actually seldom play casino games now. I don't want to lose all my balance there because I am saving it for sports where my chances are higher, in my own computation. It's a long battle in sports betting but it's more fun and the risk is lower when you do your homework.

Well as which one I am better is surely being able to find the right bet as for managing the bankroll I have problems,as soon as I hit a winning bet I tend to go right after another and if I can't find a good one I go to slot machines which is the worse money drainer in gambling.I would be in some profit if I were patient enough but no I am not so far.
