I recall an old video of Putin with his cabinet and he was listening to his minister of agriculture, talking about increasing the production of pork, so they could export much of it to Indonesia.
Putin carefully interrupted him to let him know that people in Indonesia is mostly muslin, so they could not export pork there. They all laughed and continued the event.
I think that is the only instance of Putin saying a fact, which I can remember right now. If that counts to you, that is.
Baptists and LDS are forbidden from drinking and smoking. But that doesn't stop them... anymore than laws against pork stops Muslims.
Putin was being simple-honest. That didn't make him right.
Well, that is rather a personal thing to consider, since the relation with God is supposed to be personal with each one of us, if we believe or know we have failed his commandments, then it is up to us to ask for forgiveness for our weaknesses.
Though, I must say that dietary laws within Islam are quite strict and followed tightly, in my opinion, otherwise there were not so many brands looking to offer halal version of their products or certify their existing ones as halal, to appeal the Muslim population.
But 'personal' doesn't always work when sinning against God. Consider Joshua 7:1 in the Bible: "But the Israelites were unfaithful in regard to the devoted things; Achan son of Karmi, the son of Zimri, the son of Zerah, of the tribe of Judah, took some of them. So the Lord’s anger burned against Israel."

Further, there are at least several times in the Old Testament where God blamed the whole community for the sins of certain people in that community. Sometimes it was Israel. Sometimes it was other nations. Genesis 15:16 says: "In the fourth generation your descendants will come back here, for the sin of the Amorites has not yet reached its full measure."
