Yeah.  It's crazy that he (or they) has managed to maintain that level of anonymity.  Seems like even the people on this very forum are talented enough to doxx anyone.  But the big thing for a lot of BTC users is the anonymity.  Dark markets.  Gun and drug sales.  Gambling.  Who the hell wants to give up your ID and let anyone know who you are?  If you're in the world of bitcoin, this ought not puzzle you.  Smiley

It's not accurate to say that a big thing for us BTC users is anonymity. That may have been the mantra years ago but it's at most pseudo-anonymous today as those holding and wanting to cash out significant amounts of BTC will realise now with the majority of big exchanges requiring ID verification.

Dark markets? Guns? Drugs? I'm almost certain most of us have never whiffed a puff of weed or held a gun bought with BTC. =)

Simple answer is to run away without any trace after they dump all their premined coin on exchange before delivering anything they have promised during ICO. But not all coin developers hide their real identity and you have to invest only in the one that have full transparency.

Because bitcoin creator is anonymous, devs of other coins also prefer to not show their faces.
Also, there are one more reason. Many devs create shitcoin, run away with investors money. Since they are anonymous, they can come back with another shitproject and again - collect money from new investors.

Yes, they won't be having more chances of scamming people if they reveal their identity in their first scamming venture.
It's because of that people now are careful when they plan to invest in altcoins. Every small detail about the altcoins, check the altcoins announcements and even see how much effort the developers have actually put into it.

On the other side you have coins like CLOAK which team revealed faces, because they have nothing to hide. I think this will become model of success. We had too much scams and wasted opportunities. Anonimity is good but also can be a perfect shield for frauds..

one word: OPEN SOURCE.

you are releasing a code that is open source. nobody has to trust you as a person, they see the code and trust the code. and it doesn't matter if they see your face and know your identity or not.

those altcoin developers (owners!) who are showing their face, that is their choice. but they mostly do it because they want money. for example many of them want to run an ICO so they show face to take money Smiley

Or show face to take all the credit for themselves.  Smiley. Those hiding are mostly committing scam, so that they can still anonymous, create another alt-coin take the money again. Rinse and repeat.

But for those you shows face, they want to be known in the crypto-world as top developers and maybe will work with others as well to create a new alt-coins.

Going stealthy
But looks like they are feeling better to hide his identification or their face rather than publish it on the community.
But most of the coin with anonymity dev have a high chance to be the scam project. All about the crypto is anonymity. But not for the developer of ico. Dev gives a guarantee with revealing his face. Zcash has anonymous dev at least not for his investor such as Roger ver.  Roll Eyes

On some Coins like Veros you can see the people but on 99% of coins you can't.  Why is this?  It's like they are hiding.  If I was doing a successful coin, I would want people to know I was the one who started it.

It is usually scam coins and usually abandon dying out over time, if they failed this one coin then they can go start another ones without anyone know who they are. Serial scammer dev always hiding who he is.
Never ever invest in coin with no dev information and with moderate announcement thread. I have been scams many times and I know this, always with hiding dev and moderate thread.
Name one successful altcoin with hidding dev and moderate thread, chance you can find none. Scam people would say, what about Bitcoin? This question is one of the fuck up they ever come up with. Yes, I really hate these crook scammer hiding dev(s).

it seems you do not need and will not affect the development of the coin simply by attaching the personal data only
Professional working mechanism that can popularize your coins to grow along with the development of other altcoin, and will take time and the process is not easy

A lot of coins does do that.

Take a look at coins like Ethereum, they do have a founder and a team that is publicly known. That gives them a good reputation of being "open" about their administration, and it does promote investor confidence.

However a lot of altcoins these days are indeed scams, and obviously they don't want to put their real name and address on a scamcoin.

ICO? Not even once.
I believe it's unnecessary and even detrimental to attach a personality (or more) to a coin. Coins should be decentralized and without a face, as it were.

And it could be dangerous to go public. Imagine if Satoshi would be known and alive.
