by how much is been used in many tokens, BNB must be the closest competitor of ETH. its even more friendly and its fees are cheaper also. they use say ETH killers when there are projects related to smart contracts like SOL and ADA but they are not just that widely used by many developers. there are more projects even before BNB and SOL but none of them came close to ETH killer.
I share the same point of view: BNB chain could be the main competitor of Ethereum since 2021 because it is an EVM layer-1 blockchain, it is faster and cheaper than Ethereum while developers can easily deploy Dapps similar to on Ethereum. We have seen the development of the BSC ecosystem in 2021 and I believe the same will happen to the BNB chain in 2025.

Solana is also a big competitor for Ethereum because it is very fast and very cheap. In 2023, Solana received a large amount of capital from investment funds and made an impressive comeback after the collapse of FTX. Although Solana's ecosystem is developing thanks to memecoins and its network is still unstable, it is really competing with Ethereum in terms of popularity, users and Dapps. I really like the idea of Sagaphone from the Solana team Smiley

The crypto space give room for competition unlike other investment choice. Different coins with different grades, marketcap, price, blockchain etc, the biggest competitor is Bitcoin and definitely this is common as bitcoin is the most trusted coin for long term. Aside bitcoin, XRP, Solana and Bnb is also a competitive coin with different market. Ethereum is doing well this past month and we hope for more definitely. When choosing a coin I don't think it's necessary finding the competitor and besides ethereun is a good coin
We should having good time watching the statistical data of these projects and be able to differentiate between Bitcoin and Ethereum. However the founders are different and both have been working extremely harder and challenge for both. Ethereum have fought hard all these past years to equal the same level with bitcoin but it have fallen severally and this is exceptionally not in the same range with bitcoin. Bitcoin is the top ranking coin and have brought the diversity crypto was all about.

In my opinion at the moment the only real alternative that manages to stand up to and compete with ethereum is bnb is quite versatile and has many features and even if it has many fewer tokens on its blockchain and is not decentralized it is the only one that really comes close to ethereum there would also be fantom and solana but in my opinion they are still very far away

I think that BNB is a better competitor than Solana. It doesn’t matter if it’s copy paste from Ethereum or not. They happen to be the biggest and possibly the only competitor. The fact that Binance has integrated their whole exchange with BNB keeps selling them even more. If Solana must compete then maybe it can compete with BNB and not with Ethereum.

Both BNB and Solana are very centralized. BNB is virtually under the sole control of Binance and Solana is also very centralized by a few. Therefore, they may be a competitor to Ethereum in terms of use case, but not in terms of decentralization and network stability and security.
You make a good point there but every feature that each of these platforms have is what makes them. So in such a comparison, you just need to give an overall overview instead of splitting the features. If centralization/decentralization is all it was about then neither BNB nor Solana should be doing well. Yet they are.

Ethereum's alternatives and competitors. See how Ethereum compares to similar products. Ethereum's top competitors include Solv Protocol, Radix, and Avalanche. Solv Protocol operates as a one-stop platform and a decentralized liquidity infrastructure for creating and trading nonfungible tokens (NFTs).
Ethereum is currently battling with other blockchain platforms like Cardano and Solana. These platforms also allow for the creation and use of smart contracts, but they might have their own advantages such as faster speed or cheaper fees than Ethereum. The blockchain industry is still relatively new and growing rapidly. Therefore, many blockchain platforms may coexist and develop in parallel.

It is possible that the competition among these blockchain platforms will continue to drive innovation and improve the overall efficiency of the industry. Despite the challenges Ethereum faces, it remains a prominent player in the blockchain space.
Ethereum is surely currently doing good job even we are having few competitors but due to market spread all are taking good and having their share with Ethereum is still no 1 and having no trouble to replace by anyone with few are surely trying their best for doing on Ethereum level, but they are having their own advantages and disadvantages which is clearly showing to all hopefully in near future as we will have more development in this we will have more good competitors which will jump and try to have better technology and use case about this all.
Blockchain is having bright future with many more innovative will be happened and as more adoption will be happened things will be having more improvements and competitors will be also increase which will create good things for all.

In my opinion, BNB is the biggest competitor for ethereum in all the aspects and for far in the recent years BNB is gaining momentum while ethereum is somewhat stagnant on its growth due to external factors like switching from PoW to PoS and even after switching the gas fee for token transaction is still on the expensive side which force the token projects to look for alternatives and that's where BNB stands as first choice.
In previous years, many people in Crypto circles often said that there were several alternative coins such as Solana, ADA and BNB which were Ethereum killers but in fact so far none of these coins have been able to surpass the price of ETH, so I say even if one day Later there will be altcoins that use more sophisticated technology but they still cannot beat the fundamentals of the Ethereum coin because basically the Ethereum coin has been recognized by investors that it is the king of thousands of other altcoins.
We don't even have to think of it too much because there are so many alternatives to Ethereum which are many and they are available in the market. The market is big with so many crypto projects with their own Blockchains other project can built their token on.
We have BNB, Solana, Tron etc which I can't even mention all for now. We just have to concentrate on crypto project we can buy and hold making profits from without having to wait for months before we see a single profits to appreciate.

There isn't any alternative of ETH network. We we have some layer 1 projects that just tried to be better than ETH network but it seems they are nowhere near the adoption rate of ETH network. What i am seeing is some project will fade away like all the bitcoins competitor are living under bitcoins shadow. If any layer 1 wants to make its position in the market it needs to find its unique narratives and way to do it. Trying to be better than ETH network and solving the same problem won't work in the long term.

Ethereum is one of the top alt coins so no doubt it can be invested here. Many people have made huge profits by investing in Ethereum, I myself have made huge profits by investing in Ethereum. So if you want to invest in Ethereum then definitely you can invest. Ethereum is the most reliable alt coin but if you compare it with Bitcoin the two are ruling the two places. If you are investing in Bitcoin, you must invest fifty percent in Bitcoin and fifty percent in Ethereum. Whether you invest in Ethereum or Bitcoin, you must have enough knowledge about the market before investing, and if you invest with a long-term plan, you can definitely benefit greatly from this investment.

Sorry man, this is off topic. You're talking about ethereum itself as the main subject is an ask about a big competitor of ETH?
I don't know what you are tyring to pull with your investment recommendation here, sry man  Grin

Among the list I don't see any of the is have the capability or chance to beat Ethereum. Right now Solana network is one of the players that I can see it is the biggest competitor.
About your list, Avalanche, Avalanche is a layer-2 network that runs on top of Ethereum so for me, I can't consider it as a competitor because it's like they are in one team helping Ethereum network.

Of course it is BNB. Firstly, both BNB and Ethereum support smart contracts, and when Ethereum started seeming impossible with its fees, it was BNB that took over. Also, transaction speed and cost is another reason why BNB is Ethereum’s biggest competitor. Lastly, Binance has gained huge attention in the past years. It has grown so much and this equally has increased the strength of the BNB token.

BSC is a copy-paste of the Ethereum blockchain and yes it is a big competitor of it. BNB is required to use the Binance smart chain which is why there is a demand for BNB. Another competitor that has emerged recently in the market is the Solana blockchain. A lot of meme coins are now part of the Solana ecosystem which is the reason why everyone is now interested in it. Another benefit of Solana is its cheap fee like Binance smart chain has which is why these two are good competitors of Ethereum now.

I think for now, BNB and also Solana are the biggest competitors. both are competitive enough to make them able to compete with Ethereum. Even though in terms of market cap, they are still far behind Ethereum. However, if they can survive, this will be quite troublesome for Ethereum, especially in terms of using its blockchain network. Because both BNB, in this case BSC and Solana, provide a more attractive network compared to the Ethereum network. Not only regarding the technology, but especially also the transaction fees, where Solana and BNB are quite winning in this regard. Both of them even offered much smaller transaction fees, but at fairly competitive speeds. This is why most projects currently use these networks.

In my own opinion, for now Ethereum being the kind of altcoins doesn't have any competitor on ground. Though BNB and Solana are looking forward to getting close to Ethereum but they are still way too far from Ethereum. The market cap of Ethereum is more than 4x of the market of either BNB or Solana. Therefore I'll say there is no competition there, the only competition we have is between BNB and Solana who will take the position of the 3rd best altcoin based on market cap as USDT is the second in the top listed altcoins.
Currently, Ethereum is the top type of altcoin. For several years, Ethereum has remained in second place under Bitcoin, but looking at the developments and innovations created by other altcoins such as Solana, it is not impossible that it will overtake Ethereum in second place. Because Solana is currently one of the most popular blockchains known for its scalability, speed and low transaction fees. Additionally, Solana is also developing technology that allows the network to process transactions faster without sacrificing decentralization and security.

Apart from that, Solana also supports various developments such as NFT, DApp, DeFi, and others. With so many innovations like this, it could be said that Solana will become a competitor to Ethereum in the future besides BNB of course.

When it comes to competitor then i would be saying it SOLANA..
There are even various articles about this matter.

Solana needs Firedancer, ‘ChatGPT moment’ to rival ETH, proponents say
https://cointelegraph.com/news/solana-flip-ethereum-needs-chatgpt-moment-analysts

Although there would be those people who would be saying that it is really that still far away which is true but who knows?
When it comes to fast transaction speeds then its something fast, plus having that cheaper fees on which this is something a main problem with ETH.
If this high gas fees wont really be able to be get resolved then i wont be shocked that one day that there would really be flipping on that #2 spot.

One of Eth’s biggest competitors is Binance Smart Chain. BSC offers a similar decentralised platform for building & deploying smart contracts & decentralised applications (DApps). It’s gained popularity for its lower transaction fees & faster block confirmation times compared to Eth. BSC's native token BNB is used for various purposes within the Binance ecosystem. Eth and BSC have different design philosophies & target audiences they both aim to provide solutions for decentralised finance (DeFi) & enable the development of innovative blockchain based applications.

From a technical aspect, I think BNB is highly dependent on the actual exchange "Binance", which makes it not as decentralized and independent as maybe some others, even though their CEO seems to be quite skilful. Also their Token burn is a good possibility to reduce supply.
ADA has almost no use case compared to BNB, which makes it hard to compete.
I hope to see more development at a later time...

I personally think that there are a lot of competitors trying to compete with ETH.  Grin
One of my favorites used to be ADA with it's scientific approach. With it's peer review procedure they want to create a scalable, efficient and secure platform for dApps and smart contracts.
It has a quite similar idea as ETH, although Cardano was limited to about 1000 TPS, while SOL is way faster, not just the speed of transactions but also the block building.
As SOL is still in the early ages of development it has outdated ADA with a few things.
I think ADA still has great capabilities to catch up as it's development ist still not finished.
IMHO SOL and ADA are the most optimistic candidates to compete against ETH.

It seems solana for now but we need to first understand what makes a project competitor of ETH network. ETH network is considered one of the most decentralized and secure networks after bitcoin and that is why all the existing project want to use its decentralization and security to store their data. But as ETH network grows, its gas fees and finality time become slower, and some of the other layer 1 like solana have come up with a new solution that makes them fast and cheap, but they are not as decentralized and secure as ETH yet. Another concept came to solve this problem as well and that is DA layer which uses ETH networks for decentralization and security but uses another layer for storing data. So this new type of project eliminates all the possibilities of growing bigger than ETH for its competitor layer 1 project.

There isn't really a "competitor" to ETH, all coins coexist peacefully and they are not competing with each other. If we are strictly talking about the second spot, then I would say that it is not that easy, you can't make a decision that easily and say that this one is great and this one is not, you can't just know the future neither. Imagine having the knowledge of which coin will take the second spot in the future, wouldn't we invest everything we have towards that? Hell I would sell my car and buy that coin.

However, there is no reason to believe that could happen, you just make predictions and assume for the best. But good news is that, you could invest into something that's not that great neither, it's fine and not a problem.

Well we can not deny that Bitcoin is probably the only one that is the competitor of Ethereum. Even though Ethereum is the top among altcoins it can never surpass what Bitcoin is and what has achieved but among altcoins I will say Solana might have a good chance of competing with Ethereum but only for a phase maybe. I really don't see Ethereum rising any more any time.

I don't think if bitcoin was among the comparing crypto Coins he meant to be competing with the ETH but other AltCoins. It's totally agreed, obvious and proven that no cryptocoins has ever in history to compete with the bitcoin instead the AltCoins derives their potentials based on the potentialities of bitcoinse.

Over to the Op, after ETH amongst the AltCoins a potnetial competitor of it is the BnB. They're basically of the same significant native coins of the AltCoins blockchain which although ETH has more forces of evaluations to leading in the ecosystem based on its diplomatic purposes and significant services.

You are absolutely right, Binance Smart Chain (BSC)  is replica of Ethereum, and it is very fascinating to see how block chains space is evolving with strong contenders like BSC and Solana are emerging as strong competitors of Ethereum. Ethereum's tooling and infrastructure has indeed contributed to its popularity, but its higher transaction fee still remains an issue despite numerous updates. While, BNB and Solana offer cheaper transaction fees making them attractive options for various projects and users. It will be interesting to observe the development and competition among these platforms within the broader block chain space.

I'm not even 100% sure it will happen if Solv can become a competitor to ETH before competing with ETH, it should surpass SOL first before it can say it will become a competitor to ETH, now there are many new coins that say they will replace the position of the top coin after BTC, I don't know what wind could make them say that with the age of a project that has just grown like a sprout

Radix is not in the race at all, far behind at -88% from all time high while other are around -30% and below . This could be an indicator for competition if it is far behind and we can see nothing soon, I will rule radix out

Well, if this is your attempt to shill Solv protocol (not sure of your affiliation to the project), but its a really poor effort. Add that to your clickbait title, even worse. To put this into perspective for others that will be reading this thread afterwards, Ethereum is a blockchain protocol while Solv is on only a marketplace. There are dozens of marketplace on ethereum. Even Solana, AVAX and even BNB have marketplaces built on them so what gives? Albeit a really poor shill by OP, I do think that Solana might be the closest to Ethereum yet. The total value of assets staked on solana is almost close to the value of ethereum and that underlines the economic security of any chain which is why everyone loves ethereum because it has really strong security (that's why Layer 2s settle on ethereum).

This is the first time I'm coming across the name Solv Protocol. They seem pretty new to even be noticed. I searched for the name, and they are not even yet listed. I mean, the native token, as it's also listed as an untracked token on the coinmarket cap.

How did you come up with this name and leave? The popular network that we have is something I don't understand, which has led me to start thinking that what you are after might be to promote Solv Protocol, indirectly trying to tell us it's the next rival to Eth.

The biggest competitors are other smart contract blockchain platforms such as Cardano and Solana. These platforms offer similar functionalities to Ethereum, such as the ability to create and execute smart contracts, but may have different features and advantages such as faster transaction speeds or lower fees. However, it's worth noting that the blockchain industry is still relatively new and rapidly evolving and there is room for multiple platforms to coexist and thrive.

Are you actually asking about ETH's competitors or do you just want to introduce SOLV itself? Are you part of the marketing of this coin or are you an early investor in it?

We all know here, nothing can match the performance of Ethereum. There are many who claim to be tough competitors of ETH but none of them can compete even now.

Maybe what the OP means is not about market capitalization but a large ecosystem so really now Ethereum is bigger than other similar altcoins.
Look at NFT trading is on the highest Ethereum network, I'm not so sure about other altcoins then there is nothing similar to Ethereum right now unless they are a lot of clones or even on the Ethereum network.
Now a lot of the L2 is processing from ETH network to L2 to be bridged.

Aside from Bitcoin, I think the biggest threat right now is SOL because it growing so fast and it’s actually the opposite of ETH network where you use it faster at a cheaper fee. If ETH will continue to experience the same problem while the other network is having their own growth and improvements, time will come that ETH will be replaced by other altcoins and ETH might not find its way going back if ever.

I think you are just here to hype project that does not even meet up with meme coins. What is Solv? And why do you think it could be a competitor? When u fist read your post, I thought you meant SOL but frankly, this is a different project from my perspective.
At least, you should tell us more about Solv and what investors tend to benefit even though you are excited about the project.
Maybe it could be a good one but please update us with more information so we can check it.

When Bitcoin Blockchain could not house other chains, we hard Ethereum that became the basis to the development f other coins as the first Blockchain layer that allows for other chains within it network and this have given the industry a significant breakthrough in terms of scability and other factors that made the cryptocurrency industry adoptable.
To this point, there is no other project that can act as a competitors to Ethereum since their all still slid down into Ethereum network as their bases for operations.

Will always be Bitcoin if by community size and popularity. However, there are other altcoins which are having good market performance lately which is SOLANA. Feel free to check projects running in this chain and decide for yurself whether it is a good coin to invest at this point wherein pump in crypto market prices are obvious. Many altcoins are promising and that uncludes BNB and othersor memetokens are now gaining popularity from the market which is for sure a good factor to consider charging on other units or coins. Ethereum has long existed to be one of the biggest names in this industry. You may think of things or idea that such ocassion will be located by within the result.

NEAR

NEAR Protocol is a layer-one blockchain that was designed as a community-run cloud computing platform and that eliminates some of the limitations that have been bogging competing blockchains, such as low transaction speeds, low throughput and poor interoperability. This provides the ideal environment for DApps and creates a developer and user-friendly platform. For instance, NEAR uses human-readable account names, unlike the cryptographic wallet addresses common to Ethereum. NEAR also introduces unique solutions to scaling problems and has its own consensus mechanism called “Doomslug.”

Not sure what you've mentioned except Avalanche. These are the competitors in terms of its own smart contracts that are being used mostly by projects nowadays. It's either any of these for they're popular right now.

* BNB
* SOL
* Matic
* TRX

I also don’t know how the OP came upon those selections funny enough I have heard lots of layer two chains like Avalanche, Arbitrium and the ones you listed above but none has overpowered Ethereum. One thing I notice that got Ethereum the hype other bull run was because of memes hype and ICOs on its ecosystem, now the likes of BNB and most especially Solana ecosystem are definitely coming up. They are up there to actually create a good competition for Ethereum most especially with their fast and low transaction cost. But it will take time to see that change

As far as I'm concerned Ethereum's biggest competitors will be BNB and SOL. But even if these are big competitors, Ethereum will be above them. Ethereum's continued growth and its continuous upgrades have led many to predict that this year 2024 and the coming years will be great for the token as the growing confidence in technology and blockchain solutions will surely allow ETH to go to the moon.

by how much is been used in many tokens, BNB must be the closest competitor of ETH. its even more friendly and its fees are cheaper also. they use say ETH killers when there are projects related to smart contracts like SOL and ADA but they are not just that widely used by many developers. there are more projects even before BNB and SOL but none of them came close to ETH killer.

I have seen a lot of people station SOL and BNB can be the biggest competitors for Ethereum but I think both are not at the level to compete with ETh as there is still a long way to go and I do agree BNB can come closer if we compare between BNB and SOL but I don't think SOL can be considered as a competitor yet. Because they need more market exposure and during bull run any coin can outperform ETH or reach closer but it's the best market and recovery from there is what defines real competition.

Ethereum's biggest competitor is BnB followed by Solana.  After Bitcoin we know Ethereum as the most trusted and expensive coin.  Ethereum is expected to reign supreme after Bitcoin in the future.  However, BNB is considered as a competitor to Ethereum.  Because it is valuable and expensive after Ethereum.  But solana should not be ignored BnB and Solana are very similar in terms of quality and price.

There's no competition against ETH. Overall crypto development is all for common good, except from teams that use closed source. And even if it was competition, you managed to pick crappiest choises out there. If i really had to pick one good one, it would be avax, but i didn't like ther dishonesty in their shilling attempts.

Radix is not even in top 100 marketcap coins and only legit exchange it's listed is bitfinex. I won't even bother to check the activity to see how small of a fraction activity against eth it has.

And Solv Protocol you spoke so highlly of is just a token that is literally build on Ethereum, It's just impossible to compete with something it's build on.

And saying it's a competition against eth, is like saying that your new electric toothbrush invention is a strong competition against the whole electricity infrastructure.

In terms of what? Are we talking about marketcap I think you missed the xlosest like bnb and solana these two are the top competitors of eth when it comes to tech and marketcap. Same purposes and act as a biggest network. Maybe avax too but never hrard about that one solv protocol.
