Yes, that's the way to do it, it's very important for a forum admin to employ the best anti-spam and anti bot when they launch a forum so those who will register are not bots, I used to have a forum I just left it for a month and forgot to turn on the anti bot and I have hundreds of new members which are bots which occupy the user profile 4 to 104.
A lot of black hats SEO companies are employing bots to register and post spam.

@OgNasty has also been here since 2011 and have been active ever since then till now... Or 2011 users are not considered under the old members count ??

I think “still active” are they key words in that subject. There were many users here when I joined that had a lot more knowledge than I did. It’s just that most people left or were chased away by the toxic environment and politics here. Myself, I thrive in toxicity so I don’t mind what this place has become. However, it is a shell of the bitcointalk that existed prior to 2017. So I don’t see me being considered an elder here to be some accomplishment. It says more about the state of the environment here that so many others decided to no longer participate.

Yes, but happy to know Jet Cash (https://bitcointalksearch.org/user/jet-cash-698159) it 79  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

The Thread is old. It was created in 2021. In Two months, He will be 81. He is still active, BTW.

About Active oldest forum member. I consider the login date. So, It's Sirius, in my opinion.
This is a mystery why he did not post anything after 2014. Who knows? Maybe Satoshi is hiding somewhere and laughing at us.

I may be the oldest combined person here.

I started in 2012

and I am 66.

but I am the 64500 or so person to join.

So there could be someone older that started sooner.

theymos is active and is sooner but I am older.

Jet Cash is later 2015 but he is older.

So they beat me in one case and I beat them in one case.

I wonder if any members that began in 2011 are older than 66. They would beat me in both cases.

If you are telling the truth that you are already a 66 year old it seems that you are the oldest user I've heard as off now.  And I am happy for you that behalf of your age you are still contributing To the forum and that's a good example for everyone of us here in our community that one of us still can make a useful threads. That we can get some knowledge.  But what Op said above that he pointed out that user who registered wayback 2010 that still active here in our community.

I always wonder what happened to them, if they got filthy rich from bitcoin and just went off-grid or simply lost interest or something in between.  Anyway, for your own educational edification, do some digging into forum history.  It's gnarly!

I've read tweets of an old member of the forum who complained that he left because the forum was no longer filled with technical intellectuals. So many people must have done similar things as most threads then was in the tech and development boards and today that board is not as busy as it used to be in the past. Many of them now spend time on GitHub discussing new Bitcoin updates. Nothing fascinating about the forum to keep those early Bitcoin engineers and programmers to continue adding contents and discussions in the forum. Especially during the bounty hunting era many of them left the forum as people joined to make some bucks and returned unfurnished contents just to earn.
Somewhere in 2018 there was alot of spamming in the forum. I know so many of us that gave the forum break and later returned but some found some other things for their time and did not return.
But it is normal, we cannot continue to be here. At a time we will give way for new fucks to join the bandwagon and as the times goes the standard and urge to participate diminishes.

Do not forget to add that some many some regrettable mistakes with money and bitcoin and visiting this forum would freshen their wound of regret. So it is better they avoided here totally.

Though according to a thread on the meta board about the yearly traffics in the forum, 2018 had the highest traffics if I could vividly remember. Why did a lot of people get interested in the forum at that particular year? Some may attribute it to the increase in price of bitcoin in 2017, but they've been such an increase in 2021 yet the forum wasn't that busy. However, you made a right statement, we can't be here for long, people move ahead to find other things to do with their time, but many of these people still spend time online, why not come take a look and contribute at a go. In similar ways, I do go back to some old forums I've been using years back just to look around, even if I don't add posts there. I believe your last line is the main reason those who don't come to visit at all decided to keep it that way.

Unlike Lauda  who made her final posts and disappeared. Some disappeared without leaving some noyes. Apart from the bitcoin mistakes in the last paragraph of my previous post on this thread, there are people who left because theymos did not implement their suggestions or ideas.
Suggestions such as rapidly changing the old software.
Some also left because there is nothing like newbie jail anymore or things related to that.
And the trust system has been decentralized by theymos while some people who initially centralized and manipulate the trust system are no longer comfortable with the current trust system.

Theymos is still the most active member in this forum we acknowledge his presence and contributions to make here look safe and organized for everyone.

I understand your point, that was why the off-topic was created if there were anything to say or wanting to catch cruise the best place to do that would have been off-topic section i believe everyone understand is a place to talk all manner of things.

The Thread is old. It was created in 2021. In Two months, He will be 81. He is still active, BTW.
I know this thread isn't about chronological age, but daaaamn!  I thought Jet Cash was just a bit younger than that (though it could be that last time I heard his age stated was years ago and quite a few at that).  I've always had respect for him by the way.  He has a way of keeping his brain youthful.

If any of you--particularly newer members--haven't browsed threads from the early days of the forum, I highly suggest doing so.  There are some extremely interesting topics from 2010-11, and the vibe you pick up from them is so much different that you'd get today or even for the past six+ years.  You'll also see a lot of names that you won't recognize, whether they're Legendaries or whatever.  I always wonder what happened to them, if they got filthy rich from bitcoin and just went off-grid or simply lost interest or something in between.  Anyway, for your own educational edification, do some digging into forum history.  It's gnarly!

Are there any other old users who are still active?
Oldest registered forum member doesn't have to be oldest in real life, but not many people exposed their real age in public.
You can see stats and check old profiles to see who is still active but I am sure there are guys older than theymos here Wink

I don't eat minced ( ground ) beef or hamburgers, but I do enjoy a good steak. I don't et of cook with seed oils, but use butter, olive  and coconut oil.
There is nothing wrong with minced meat from time to time and homemade burgers, you can even make it yourself if you purchase good meat from local farmers market or you have your own farm.

I'm an omnivore. I even eat stinging nettles I've harvested from the fields. I don't eat minced ( ground ) beef or hamburgers, but I do enjoy a good steak. I don't et of cook with seed oils, but use butter, olive  and coconut oil. I swim in the sea naked, and try to keep busy. Alcohol is fine as long as you don't drink too much, and stick to good quality. Cheap alcohol doesn't do you any good.

I'm a Bitcoin maximalist, and I'm hoping to install a usb mining rig in the van. I'll try some solo mining. It probably won't make me anything, but it helps the network, and I may get lucky.

Do you want to find oldest user in real identity and still alive, still actively use the forum?
- It is Jet Cash. 79 today and still going strong in 2021.

Actually I'll be 81 in June this year. I'm still healthy, because I haven't been vaccinated or useing any medication. I've also become a digital nomad, and I'm converting a van for full time living while the "great reset" is happening.

Sir, I congratulate you. That is savoring every moment of your life. You are so fortunate to have reached that age while remaining happy and healthy. You truly set an example for others. When my child is old enough to be on his own, I will persuade my wife to join me as a digital nomad. Or, if we are unable to, at least we travel frequently.

Few questions I can use as tips if you may. Are you being a veggie lover? Are there times you drink liquor and beer?

Goodnight, ohh Leo!!! 🦅
Uhmmm, I'm I getting this wrong? Cus I clicked on the second link and it took me to my own profile...but that ofcourse isn't a complete profile code...No?
Secondly, I'm really surprised to have in my knowledge that Sirius was still active, even up till 2nd of last month... That's even more like the ecstasy I got when I saw VOD's profile too..(that's been a while though).
I remember when i decided to take out time to see alot of old post from very active and reputable members who became uhhhh.. extinct after sometime... Cry.  I realized there and then that very many peeps were tagged with a "heaped-book"📚 even before Achow was ..

Are you planning on creating a list of Bitcointalk forum members who registered on 2009?. I don't see anyone who created a thread to list Bitcointalk forum members who are still active that registered on 2009. I see you are looking for forum members who registered on 2009 that are still posting till to this day instead of being online or Last Active when you checked their profile. Just do what lovesmayfamilis suggested and you will be in a witch hunt TBH.

In my very opinion I will prefer to characterize oldest (older) members exclusively to those who have been in the forum for over a decade and more in the likes of @Theymos, @Welsh, @OgNasty and many other under this category. Many of these members may not be active anymore probably for the past one year or more but am sure the likes of Theymos, Welsh and OgNasty is pretty active till date.

Yes, active what does it means?

My point of view of "active" means that user continues to interact with the community, posting content, and that his last post must not be older than a month.
if that is what you mean by active, then Theymos would be the oldest account that is active in the forum because while Sirius and BitcoinFX's "last active" date is shown as 2023, both of them haven't posted anything for a while now.

But the definition of the word "active" will determine whether it has been active in the last 10 years, 5 years, or 2 years.

Do you want to find oldest user in their registration date and still be actively in forum?

I believe what @HedgeFx means by the "older users" are the members who have actually been here for a long period of time, like from their registration dates (2009, 2010) till date, and not the one who is the oldest by age in this forum. registration
