Just a couple of weeks ago bitcoin was blasting over $1000, so I am wondering if anyone made big money by selling their BTC? Now it has came down to $830, even if last week it was close to $900, so I am not seeing getting back to $1000 anytime soon. Any profits or regrets here?  Roll Eyes

I convert my bitcoin at $800+ then I regret because the price pumps at $1000+, I never thought the price will increase in that price. So now I am ready to buy at dump price. May I know if what price is the best to buy bitcoin? So that If the price of this coin will pump, I can gain more profit.

Any bitcoin price under  $1000 is good price to buy. i think bitcoin price now a days is very good to buy more. In the future bitcoin will go above even at 2000$ to 3000$.  If you have extra money, i advice you to buy as much btc as possible.
You really cannot guarantee a price range of above $2000 in a short time and you really cannot say that it would breach the $3000 value in a very long time and we have seen how the price went down after breaching the $1000 resistance ,people will be booking their profits so it would take a really long time to reach those values. My advice is to book profits when ever you can rather than holding on for a long time.

I did not sell my coins, but in the contrary, I took advantage of the price correction to $780 to buy a good amount of coins. I think it was a better decision than selling at $1,100 because the price eventually will return to +$1000, but hardly to $600 or $500 to buy more.

Bot things can and most likely will happen.   But on general is always hard if not impossible to sell at ATH or buy at bottom. You can even end up doing exactly opposite, so best is just as you said, buy as cheap as you can and then spend them only when you need to.

Unfortunately I have skip that chance. I didn't expect bitcoin will fall so down and so fast. My expectation was that bitcoin is going to jump around this price for some time long. I cashed out my coins on 17th of January with the price 827$. And the next day the price was around 900$ already. What a looser!

I did not get it from the bottom price.
I did not sell at the highest price.
I believe ultimately no trader will be able to catch the right prices all the time. Might be possible when you are trying averaging your buying and selling price levels. But that also will not be possible in suddenly fluctuating markets.

Which is important to me,
To increase the amount of money by making use of fluctuations
You can reach the big money this way.
I too believe that would be the right ambition and your approach is already doing it.
Because the potential of earning opportunity from any market will be unlimited but the real thing is how much we will be able to make use of that.

It is clear that whales manipulate the price and they earning every time thanks to weak hands - It's amazing how many are there, who losing money this way.
If you love to trade, BTC is blessing! You can do much with it sell on high, buy it low it lend it, invest..But at the end if you can increase holdings of BTC, you'll be blessed when next time halving happen, if not even sooner how things are.  Wink

See the value today. Its not dropping today. I seems to moving to high value only. I could say that you do not sell the bitcoins now. I think big price pump in Coming april. So that time you can sell your bitcoin and make huge profit.

I collect and buying bitcoin since bitcoin prices around $ 700 a few months ago. And I sell when prices are more than $ 900, I get a good profit and it is in conformity with my target to sell at the price of $ 900 bitcoin. But I am a bit regretful for the last bitcoin prices could reach more than $ 1,000, if I hold bitcoin longer sure I will get more bitcoin. But at least I can reach my target, and my next targeting to sell bitcoin at $ 2,000.
Even me bro I felt sad and regret with what you said, you should be happier now when you just waited more time enough for a price of $1000.
Still, you gain $200 per bitcoin and it is somewhat big profit as an investor, and still have time to earn more than that so don't feel sorry now. Congratulations.
Yes thank you and you're right I've got a bit of profit, maybe you can explain what happened to you, and why you regrets? It has already passed, friend. It is better to prepare for the next target in order not to repeat the mistakes again because the price will be even better in the future. Hope you be successful.

0,061 BTC 999 USD
0,050 BTC 934 USD
0,079 BTC 939 USD
0,048 BTC 939 USD
0,163 BTC 935 USD
0,165 BTC 930 USD

total bitcoin : 0.566 BTC
total USD : 532,69 USD

And this day buy bitcoin Smiley 0,618 BTC

I did not get it from the bottom price.

Truly the best example of how one should trade and make money in bitcoin markets.
We don't know when bitcoin will reach its peak, we don't know when will it reach a new low, but we should be aware and take correct decisions during correct times and if we are focused, we will surely make something out of it.

One of the main features of Bitcoin is the large price fluctuations. Bitcoin will reach $ 1000 levels again. I could not buy it because I did not have much money. But it will make a very serious profit for those who have money. The price of bitcoin, which was $ 800 in the last week, at the moment $ 900. Which commodity earns $ 100 in such a short time.

There are many big whales who made big money from bitcoin increase. They could get 50% - 100% profits if they bought and held bitcoins from August or September in 2016. I believe that Bitcoin will continue to hit 1,500$ in this year. Just only buy and hold bitcoins when the price is down deeply.

Congratulations to everyone who earned a lot on this pump&dump. I dont like to risk, and I plan to earn a lot one day in the future. I`m saving my coins, but people who are brave enough to risk what they have are earning on this price changing. I understand how they are doing that, just I`m not self confident enough to try anything. I chose to save cause for me that is safer way, and cause I dont know to pick right time for shortage. How do they do it?
Its much better doing a long hold investment and try to accumulate more, shorting its really for those who understand the flow and most of them are whales who always dictate the direction im also not into day trading in regards to btc i will keep waiting for more rise rather than to panic and got loss.

Fluctuations which is the major factor that helps to earn big. One such example is the above quote by a user who have made a big earning. Making use of the fluctuations is better than trying to buy at bottom price and sell at the peak price.

Early adopters are the one who have made big money with bitcoin. If we too have saved big during the early days of its existence sure we too could have made a big earning.

The early adopters (I mean super early ones from 2011-2012) took way more risk than there is now that it will all go to zero so it's well deserved that they profited from it.
For those who are early adopters i think they are already rich and they are made a business with bitcoin.. or they are still holding lots of bitcoin and they are gradually selling it everytime the price of bitcoin is high that is why there are someone are panic selling..
Also those early adopters if they are already made a business related in bitcoin they are make a big money.. except china who mine lots of bitcoin even in early stage..

Aside from the early adopters, those who believe in Bitcoin when it was at sub $200  are the one reaping the rewards now.  It was a continue decline but this people see it as an opportunity and buy at the bottom after the bubble of 2013.  They are more likely new batch of Elites thru Bitcoin.

All the people like me who are holding some coins they bought when price was at 250$

First time I ever made a 4times profit ever xD
But problem is that everyone will be full of regrets the moment BTC will crash the 2k$  Grin
DAM, you lucky!!
I would like to know who was it that shorted this from over 1100. It was looking so bad for shorters - you'd have to have balls of steel to hold it through the pain.

Balls of steel are needed for any risky business. Trading is not an easy thing to do, almost every action they take is a big risk. This situation now shows how tricky can be trading with bitcoins.
I sold some bitcoins but just cause I needed money, and cashing out is always good profit for me, and I think about like extra earning.
Ah don' have balls o' steel!  But I din't sell no bitcoin when we was up at $1100.  I jist sit there, aroused, watchin tha upward trajectory.  I tells you, it was a fine ol' time.  An' we'll git back there soon.

HOLY MACKEREL!!  We at $853.17 now.  Thet's pretty dam good, don't y'all think?

I've been a holder for a long time, and have a stash of coins my TREZOR that I don't intend to sell anytime soon.

However, I did begin trading futures on OKCoin after hearing about the platform from other people I talk to, and I made some solid gains going long on leverage for most of the ride up, and trimming my position incrementally as we approached the top. I was entirely out by the time it crashed. My personal goal is just to trade with the aim of increasing my stash as much as possible, while waiting for the eventual big bull cycle up at which point I might finally cash out most of my coins for good. I don't intend to sell any at any price below around $2000-$2500 USD/coin, which I hope should materialize sometime in 2018.

I.haven't made anything but people who were holding their coins long enough probr hav. This is just one more proof that it's worth holding bitcoins and that bitcoin is the most profitable as long term investment. Although people who bought it when it was around 800$ and sold it for 1000$ or more have made decent profit too.

People acting like Bitcoin is a pump and dump penny stock. Tsk Tsk  Undecided

Better buy back now before it's too late!

I agree on this, whales are accumulating, until accumulation is done it is best to buy else you will see another bitcoin uptrend in the coming week.  Did you not noticed Bitcoin is a bit stable at this range?  Seems it is preparing to soar up again.  I hope you won't get left behind Smiley

Mind sharing what gives you the impression that whales are accumulating that will result in the price to go up in the coming week? I don't see any signals of going much higher than current levels in the coming days/next week. I wouldn't even be surprised to see the price test the $800 level again. Market is and has always been unpredictable. Current situation isn't any different.

I was able to make a small amount of money by selling when the price went high and then rebuying below $800.  The problem is that I didn't have a lot to sell so I could only make a small profit. The ones that could make a big profit had to be holding a large amount.

I did not sell, because i was terrified i would be selling in a market which would go up again. This has happened a few times with me. I don't fee bad though, because i hold my bitcoins for the mid term and in that time i do expect to make a profit.

Yep, it's not easy to know when to sell or when to hold, but hey, if you need the money it was a good move. I wish I had bought some BTC when they were at $250, that would mean 4 times my money... Smiley

I have some pretty cheap coins lying around and there were many chances for me to dump my position from 1000$+ and yet i didn't. Because i thought i will rise even further(1500+). When i realized that it won't happen, it was already too late. I am not completely sad though. What if it kept rising after i sold my coins? Getting trapped in a bulltrap is far more painful than holding your position.

I am already used to bitcoin's price rallying up and then retracing back. It happens almost all the time. If the price surges up 200 or 300 +, almost automatically there will be bad news that will pull the price back down. That is why when the price surges 200+, I'll sell already and wait for the bad news to buy back some coins again.

I am just neutral. I was expecting prices to reach $2000 levels within that rally, (but in that way little disappointing still not regretting as certainly bitcoin will reach there) but made sudden reversal. I am a long term bitcoin hodler and I am holding my coins for the target of millions. So, really not minding these fluctuations.

Many Chinese traders would have booked good profits but not sure about who were regretting.

Just a couple of weeks ago bitcoin was blasting over $1000, so I am wondering if anyone made big money by selling their BTC? Now it has came down to $830, even if last week it was close to $900, so I am not seeing getting back to $1000 anytime soon. Any profits or regrets here?  Roll Eyes

Some high leverage bears had to have made a killing shorting this garbage. Good luck to you all. We will learn eventually.

when they they sell their bitcoin when the price is still $ 1100, I think there will be no regret for that decision. even, unconsciously, they have produced a lot of money when the price of bitcoin down. may regret only at the people holding the bitcoin her at the time to wait for a higher price.

Any profits or regrets here?

Regrets? My only regret is having missed being an early adopter. The price was already in double digits when I learned of Bitcoin, so I missed the kind of profits made by people who bought thousands of bitcoins at pennies per coin and held tight.

At least I had enough sense not to sell any coins when the price skyrocketed up to over $200, back down to $50, up to over $1200, back to $200, and then up to $1500 (all prices in CAD). In fact not only did I refuse to wimp out and sell, I bought more at every bottom.

Profits? I'll worry about that when the time comes that I have to spend some of my coins. Hopefully that's years away.

I quickly convert my btc into cash. So i can say i got little from that. Im just a bit frustrated bout the price. I thought we are going to break the all time high that time. But it didn't. Im still positive tho. I'll just wait till it pump again. I guess this may take a long  time till we are back again to $1000.

why would you want to know, and those who have made big profit are never going to announce it here!
surely there have been many who sold and bought and made profit and loss. that is how any market works. some experienced traders are always silently making their money while the rest of us talking here to ourselves Cheesy

Nope. It was blatantly too fast a rise to hold but I couldn't be arsed to crack open my cold storage. And paying the capital gains would've wiped out most of the benefit of buying back lower. I could of course have sold and bought back on BTC-e but they make me feel funny in my tummy.

No. I wish I had trading skills but I don't so I just hold. Right now seems like a good moment to make small shorts tho

It's even worse. I have Bitcoin and some altcoins, if I would have been a (good) trader and would have had the guts for it, I could have sold all and bought back now, it would have been some 2 BTC easy profit.
But since I didn't have the time to follow the trend closely to take the best profit, I missed the moment. I didn't sell, I didn't buy.
Not a problem anyway, since I expect them to grow again even higher. When my target is reached, then I will sell, but it's quite a long ride until then.

We always regret on the things that might in our hands now but because we ignore it, it just disappeared like a snap of a hand.
Anyway, congratulations for those who gain much last price increase and start over for those just like me ignored buying bitcoin at its lower price.
It is never too late guys! We still have ample time.

I sold all my bitcoins at $860 and after one week the price was $1133.
More regrets than profits for me. Sad
Only the big whales can make big money.Do we know any major bitcoin players who are Bitcointalk members?

We have a lot here. Those that are pretty silent are the ones who've got most. Don't worry, it's gonna have a lot more spikes like that in the future, plenty of opportunities to come still.

i made some decent profits, but all the profits that i cashed out above $1000 have been invested by buying back just below current levels. my benefit is that i have around 20% more coins than before the peak to over $1000 that we have seen. that's my main target > increasing the number of coins that i have.

I would see big money as in the thousands and in order to be making that on these spikes you would need a few coins, I am just waiting for it to go up again and next time we might see it closer to the $2k mark.

Op, If you think that $300 profit from 1 BTC is a big money then fine. But I think BTC has so much potential that selling it now is a waste.
I expect price of BTC to be a lot higher than $1100 in near future so I am not bothered with ~$300 price spikes.

But if you look at it, if you sold your bitcoins at 1100 and bought back at 790, you have more bitcoins now. You will have more profit when bitcoin goes to the moon. People like me who do not have a lot of bitcoins yet can take advantage of those volatility to gain more bitcoins in the process. But those who get in early have no problem in the price surges and are just holding and waiting for the price to go to the moon.

All the people like me who are holding some coins they bought when price was at 250$

First time I ever made a 4times profit ever xD
But problem is that everyone will be full of regrets the moment BTC will crash the 2k$  Grin
That is almost exactly me, I had about a $250 average and I sold some of my coins (about 20%) at over $900.
I did miss the top though, even though my girlfriend said I should sell at $1100!

I don't mind missing the top, I was hoping for a rise to $1500, but it did look bubbly to me, and as soon as the price crashed $200 in 25 minutes, I was ready to realise some profit.

I would probably have sold/swapped more if we had reached gold parity, shame.

zero regrets here because even if we assume i didn't sell above $1000 i am still in profit because i have made $650 per bitcoin that i may own these tiny rises and drops doesn't interest a long term holder who has bough when others were pessimistic Smiley

Everyone knows that the price was due to pump manipulation and It was obvious that Its going to decrease later , those who didn't sell probably thought that It will keep increasing so they kept holding hoping that It will increase to like 1500-2000$ per BTC and that's where they sell. I don't see why would anyone regret though, we will get there eventually anyway.
