I think they will comeback.
All they have to do is a formal apology and issue bit coins again and they avoided any negative consequences.
They had huge profits doing what everyone claims they are doing already, why not continue to profit from the exchange?
I cannot say a number but I'd bet 90 percent of people claiming they will never use gox had 0 BTC there and have never used the exchange.  Gox probably knows this.
They are also smart enough to realize people will use them again as long as price is right and they operate quickly.  People will claim they will never use gox and then they will buy and sell there right and left if the price is right.

I hope they don't come back.  I sincerely doubt they'd ever give an honest apology, but even if they did it wouldn't undo the damage to their reputation.  I've never used gox and after this latest fiasco, never will, regardless of how cheap they're selling.  Given the choice now of $100 on gox and $500 - $600 on localbitcoins, I'd take the localbitcoins one.  Because I know I'd get what I'm paying for and I don't have to dick around with wire transfers and sending ID and all the waiting for stuff to clear.  I've never sent fiat to any exchange because it's a waste of effort and much easier to do peer-to-peer, you know, the way bitcoin was designed to be traded.

I have 95% of my coins there. I also believe that they will come back. But I will go. Was now there for nearly two years and the mix of technical errors and bad press, I don't like it anymore. I'm tired.

However, I will not change to another Exchange. This chapter is closed for me. Well, maybe I will anyway sometime trade again. But first, it's over.

Also if Gox is just as fault how come every other exchange rode the bandwagon driving the price down?  They could have reassured the community that they will not be going off of Gox's prices and noone else should until they start withdrawals again and actually having real bitcoins.  Will the price have still dropped, probably, would it have dropped as much, i'm not a psychic.
How come all you numbskulls flooded gox with withdraw requests making it worse.  If there is a problem how is bombarding something with more stuff going to allow them to solve the problem?
How come all you numbskulls think it is smart to be selling your gox coins for nothing, when you are not getting the money anyways?  Lets sell my coin for nothing because now I have money I cannot withdraw.  Foolproof!
The only thing that will prevent gox from coming back, and may do so is the continual bashing them at every turn.  The best way to get someone to get someone to give you something is apparently by attempting to destroy them.  If I borrowed a friends lawnmower and refused to give it back because I had an issue with it, you think he would come after me, or you think he would try and get me to feel bad and realize he would still be my friend if I gave it back to him when I resolved the issue?

Now I get to enjoy the massive flaming.
If people bashing gox prevents them from "coming back" then they don't deserve to be around anyway.

Trust is an important issue for a bitcoin exchange.
But greed > trust.
