I still think that Satoshi Nakamoto plaid a good move when it comes to hiding his identity. I believe it is good and helpful for the community. The guy just wanted Bitcoin to grow without him being at the center of it.

lol. it looks more like desperate attempts to find anything that could remotely link to Satoshi...
it is funny how people are using certain terms such as "hard coded IP address" and "cipher" whereas it is just a "comment" of an example of how the IP of an IRC channel looks like in its used form (hexadecimal) and what the code below it means.

Exactly.

Whilst this threads intended purpose was to demonstrate that CSW is NOT satoshi ...

It might also definitively prove that Nakamoto in fact launched Bitcoin (BTC) from his 'home' / work internet connection, without using any anonymity and/or privacy software whatsoever.

Now, how about that !

Do you really think Satoshi Nakamoto would make such obvious mistakes to not use Tor or VPNs? Did you check how long he used that IP address ? If I wanted to throw people off my scent, I would "remote" to a hacked computer in another country and then do all my work from there.

Satoshi Nakamoto was not your typical script kiddie, he was very smart and he has managed to evade capture for more than 10 years now, so what makes you think that he/she or they would drop the ball like that?  Tongue

Just because it's a not a Tor exitn node doesn't mean it's not a VPN. This really doesn't prove anything except someone did some Google's on old ip addresses.

Indeed ...

Perhaps someone needs to do more research on how common these open proxy services were before increased VPN and Tor usage (especially in 2009) - and that folks, often mis-configured said open proxy software and that 'servers' were then utilized by anyone and/or everyone, sometimes for a matter of weeks, days or even hours! Lists of open proxies were widely available with a simple 'google search' and still are today. Some IP addresses would not even appear to be proxies, if well configured etc., search Charon proxy scanner ...

Reports for individual IP addresses (and allocated IP ranges) are updated more often than monthly, let alone from 10 years ago ...
