If you want to know where the market is headed, you should only listen to rpietila and jaroslav. They are bitcoin super-mega-nodes who have billions of USD invested into BTC apparently.

Here are a few to get you started:

theymos
John (John K.)
psy
BadBear
Tysat
Hazek
maged

Gavin Andresen
Phinnaeus Gage
DeathAndTaxes
smoothie
Rassah
crazy_rabbit

There are countless others, but these are a good start.  I am sure others will chime in with additional good candidates.

I didn't make the list?

I'll have to try harder.

The top menu has a "Members" button.  Clicking on it will give you the option to search for different members.  You can then look at their recent posts.  I do not know of any automated ways of following the members.

Is there an easy way to follow when they make a post or reply to a thread?

The signal to noise ratio on Bitcointalk.org is low.  I'd like to parse out the noise and follow the movers and shakers in the nascent economy of Bitcoin.  Suggestions on who to listen more closely to?
I made a good youtube video, the rest of my sumbmissions are questionable, however.
