US citizens are blocked from participating on various projects due to SEC regulations. This is done only to be compliant with the SEC. Due to legal concerns, this was done.

US citizens are already restricted from joining any ICO, why would you want to join a chat discussion of an ICO if you are already cannot participate in it? By the way that is for your own good, I know that US investors still joining most of ICOs even with the warning not to join and then they start to complain when ICO require them to compile with KYC.

The US government at the moment isn't crypto friendly, hence the cease and desist on some ICOs. Furthermore, in other to avoid issues with the SEC, some projects exclude US citizens and a few other countries citizens from participating.

I just came across the weirdest thing. In the eMusic ICO telegram community,

there is some sort of a ‘bouncer bot’, blocking U.S. citizens from participating in the discussion.

This is the first time I see this kind of thing.. can anyone explain what is all about?
I think that the United States is ideally based on the economy through taxes, so their government does not want too many people to take part in the ICO, and by that they want to limit access to it.

I think that this situation is a bit strange but there is nothing surprising because the American government wants to have control over its citizens. To my mind, it is better to block them for the government

well if they can't comply with SEC, it might be reasonable for them not to allow US tekegram users to join the group, especially if they're US based project, i would be quite concerned either

Yes, it may be related to the SEC. There are many countries that are trying to stop the trading of cryptocurrencies. The United States is still a country with strict laws. Only if it is passed. It will be released in the near future.

It was a US government policy that preventing their people to join ico thats why those developer that came from US are going to the countries that has no policy to crypto ico and from there are the project will start and banning or pointing that american base members wont allow to join as the SEC will be their big problem

However, I am curious about how users from telegram groups can judge whether they are from the us.
If you don't say it, I don't think they will know.

Many ICOs around the world banned American workers, Chinese participants
As far as I know, US citizens must obey the SEC
And joining the ICO group telegram too.

USA government does not allow their residents to participate in ICO projects. Hence they are being kicked from the Telegram group. But, the recent events regarding SEC indicate that there is still hope and SEC's verdict might allow Americans to participate in ICOs.

It’s quite normal. I have seen many projects similar like this. They have restricted US citizen so that they won’t have to get complain notices from US Security exchange commission.

There are many projects that restrict US citizens from participating in the ICO in any form because they are trying to be in compliant with the SEC, which is not necessarily a bad thing.

it's actually the opposite. they block US investors because they don't want to be under the scrutiny of the SEC. there is a lot of uncertainty regarding ICO regulation in the US so it's better to just not deal with it. so if they block US citizens from investing, they are not under the jurisdiction of the SEC

Currently US citizen are not allowed to participate in any ICO unless you are an accredited investors, else you are not allowed to participate, so many ICO are taking many measures to make US citizen does not get in

because there are some restrictions in the U.S. they have a law which is only enforcing in their country. and because of that restriction, most of the projects tend to remove them from being able to participate in any project.

Please worry no more about this issue. As I know it’s not a matter of concern. Government took some step to run smoothly the crypto market. It’s a increasing market so government took this initiative.

i think it's because the American Securities and Exchange Commission is been so strict on processes relating to cryptocurrency.
A closer look at their reason might be fiscal related control and then fraud related control too. For the mean time they are been restricted doesnt mean Americans are not part of the exercise. But am meant to believe that such regulations are part of what gives the crypto market this bearish dive. I'd advice the crypto community sort out what ever might be the issue. Cryptocurrency will definitely moon again Grin

From my point of view its not a matter of concern. Government impose some rule for participating ICO.  As crypto community is increasing day by day many people try to use it in different way. Government took some initiative to smooth the operation. So worry no more.

ICO country blocks are based on many factors and it is not for all Ethereum based ICOs. Status must have their own reason and it is probably buried somewhere within the forums or FAQ

I am also amazed about that, as far as I know, it is true not for all the projects here, bust the fact, that wealthiest nation in the world cannot contribute in the ICO projects, is very strange for me... I need to know more about that.

I think this is a real censorship because everyone has the right to do as they please with their money the problem is that these countries are afraid of bitcoin ethereum technology they think imposing one where their citizens spend their money think this is ridiculous if the guy knows that a project is scam he invests if he wants but niúngue can be blamed for others and make a general prohibition but as we are living in the civilized world we have to comply with rules

there are some restriction such kind of project when US citizen wants to participate, As this project looks not for long time and SEC will regulate this maybe it might be risky.

It is actually simple.
What do they get out of it?

There is no tax when you buy tokens from ICO, means nothing will come to the pockets of the government official.
Even a little thing you buy at the grocery have tax. Now, if you are one of the officials will you really let that happen?

It is like giving freedom over what they say a "free country".
They need the funds for their salaries.  Grin

I think American law has some restrictions on the crypto industry, often participating in the ICO, you will see that some ICOs have banned the US people, Chinese, Singaporeans and there has similar regulations in the telegraph Group I think.

The United States is quite strict when it comes to investment regulations. Only certified investors can participate in individual positions of securities. While some people call all ICO cryptocurrency as the token and not the stock, managers will have a very different opinion on the issue.

Because the us SEC is quite strict with ICO, this is the reason why most ICO projects restrict American citizens.
Many ICO bans American and Chinese citizens

Because nearly none of ICOs accept U.S. citizens to join their ICO. As you can see they are concerned about legal issues. The interesting thing they can still buy coins and tokens after ICO at the exchanges.

Most ICO projects do not currently allow users from the United States to participate. For some legal reason. Therefore accounts from the United States will often be banned from joining the ICO telegram group. That is normal today

Because according to American government's regulations they (American citizens) can not participate in such projects. However, after the recent negotiations with SEC, it seems like these rules and regulations may get watered down a bit in the future.

I think this is a compliance issue for which in some cases US citizens are not allowed to participate in ICO programs. To me, that's not problem at all rather it's trying to be more compliant with laws and regulations.

The US as having a strict ban in cryptocurrencies still now, started to approve some of the projects with a bunch of rules and regulations. For this cause, we are seeing this kind of restriction problems. We and the ICOs have to follow this protocols there's no way to deny. But as new regulation Force have been formed, there might be possibilities to come in near future.

I feel there is a bidding on US citizens, by a body with authority, not to participate in ICO, except such citizen is an accredited investors. Although, there are even some ICOs that do not allow both accredited and non-accreditted US investors from investing. This does not affect US citizens alone, but also the citizens of some few countries.

I can not answer this question, but I'm very interested to know why there was such a situation that Americans can not invest in crypto-currencies? Is it strange? But it seems to me that this is not very correct.

My friend also told me this thing today. I think this is something related to SEC. There are many ICOs which have already blocked users from certain countries. And I don’t think it’s weird.
Because the majority of the icos can't even fill all of the SEC compliant to be the investment place. I think that you can see that about how the majority of people are thinking about that right now. US citizens are getting banned to participate in any ico because that will give them all the more risk.

U.S citizens or residents are restricted from a lot of ICO's. So I wont be surprised they are even blocked from joining the telegram group of some projects. This is likely because of the SEC regulations and their perception of the tokens of certain ICO's as securities.

US citizens have certain laws and regulations to follow, that simply abide them to take part in such ICO telegram groups. Which is why they are not seen here.

yes I heard about this news that many projects are putting restriction toward the US citizen but I am not sure how correct there decision is , it is maybe happening because they complain about the process, but I didn't get any updates about it, now we can hope that the situation will be changed in the upcoming years

Right now US government somehow discourages crypto investment right now. Things will possibly change. For now I would like to invest in south american region, or Europe works fine I guess.

The only vague reason is that, they are trying to do business with the SEC, i.e. trying to comply with them. SEC is not that bad and is worth the shot. This is the only evident reason why they are blocked from it.

Because American law has restrictions on this, if you often participate in ICO, you will find that many ICOs prohibit US citizens, Chinese citizens, Singapore citizens, and I think their telegraph group may have similar regulations.

Well, you are correct, though eMusic is a very unique American project that has many resources

and made a huge progress in negotiations with the SEC to get a rare approval to raise money.

Looks like a very serious one, check their site
