I did read up on Sharbat Gula prior to posting her image. I found her beautiful back when she first appeared on NG. One fact did elude me back then--her age.
Actually it's just the photograph that's beautiful - it seems a bit fake to me - how did he get the background to match her eyes and contrast it with the red she is wearing?
edit - and why is she wearing a touch of green identical to the background?
eyes often reflect the colour of their surroundings... it's not hard to imagine all internal walls of the same structure being the same shade of green.
And what is the obvious fake green thing she is wearing? And why are there touches of the same colour inside her scarf? Photoshop (or the 70s equivalent)
Interesting! It looks like the same observation can be said of the newer photo. Even now, there's a certain beauty. Image her with a Susan Boyle like makeover.
