People forget old things because they move on to new things, except there's something or an event that will make them to remember the past, I think that is human nature, if we keep occupying our minds with old things and the past, then we can't function well in new things and present events. If you lose a loved one, the experience will be very painful during that period, but eventually you'll move on, except there's a memorial for the deacesed, him or her will be forgotten as time goes on, this is why history and achaive is very important so we can look back and remember important events that concerns us.

Human retaining memory depreciate with time, it gives out non remarkable even to welcome new even or ideas. The reason why most electronic such as computer is design is not far from the loss of memory of human within some time interval, most time human experience the so called amnesia challenges as illness either by age or some physical issue course by environment.

Naturally human brain is not design to carry everything at once it give room for old thing to past bye to enable others, the common example is the food we eat if we failed to release the waste product which we passed out on daily basis.
I think such being may find it difficult to survive so is the Brain accommodating everything may not suit it know matter how you try since it's not it nature it can work.

I've been reminiscing on this very topic above and I have gotten any straight answer from my head or mind and it really bothers me so much to see how people and things are easily forgotten like they never existed and to me it's an issue of concern.
I was reading some old but gold topics on the forum and I see how much people has forgotten such topics like they were never written and same thing applies to human and the surrounding neighborhood.

Why are people and things forgotten so soon?
Please let's talk on this.

N/B please if this not the right place for this topic, I will be glad if notified so I can move it to the right place or possibly move it for me.

That is the nature of humans; we forget about things or people who are no longer part of our lives. People lose interest in old topics that were once important to them as it is human nature to forget about things that are no longer important.

In this technological world everyone is occupied with social media, technology, and gadgets, which have made life easier for us. However, these advancements have increased distances in our relationships. Our memory mainly operates in short-term mode and our ability to store past events has reduced drastically. This is the main reason for forgetting things and people.

People or things are been remembered due to what they  represent or what they stand for i would say for example we humans can be remembered because of the love we showed to some one in the past or even a memory we share together, in conclusion that people or things are forgetting only because they share few memories in life

IMO, no matter what happens life always move forward, and even if we do remember them by specific moments it is also true that we live with those memories. It's not that we forget them but we only learn to live without them. This is also one of the reasons why we have "history", to record the things in order for us not to forget it or for reference in our future decisions, or actions.

Good memory depends mostly from your age. If you take B vitamins twice a year and enough sleep at nights, you can have better memory with time. For bad memory there are also prescription drugs.

Human beings are simple creatures, we are still not too far removed from the ape. Man is really not that different to what it was a very, very long time ago. Our brain has developed but our long term memory really is not that great, we need constant stimulation & reminders to be able to recall some events.

I am obviously not a neurologist but recent events obviously are fresh in the memory. Past events are more difficult to remember as clearly as something which was last week for example.

that's how life ought to be, as long as we live on Earth, new memories are created on a daily basis most of them are challenging situations that even makes us forgot some vital things we're not meant to live without.

Everyone do relationship only for their own purpose .So when people feel this person is nothing to me he would push you in dustbin like a piece of paper .SO do your own work and rely on your own abilities. Never trust others and people would love you only when they have some means in yourself .

People are only remembered for what they did while they were alive, while things are only remembered for as long as they are functional. As a human, to be remembered, you do not have to do what everyone is doing, you have to be special to leave a mark so that people will celebrate you for what you did. People who did nothing and had no influence are quickly forgotten, just like things that go bad and cannot be fixed.

Well initially you wouldn't say everyone but rather say most people are forgotten so soon,we forget most of our people because most of them weren't good to us,most gives us problem, most are involved in one evil act or the other,so it makes us feel less about them and forget everything about them. If you check closely you can see that it only someone you love or that always have been good or doing things the right way you wish are the one we always remember or think of.

Remember this, if you neglect and forget about the good things, that's the devil's doing.
If you forget about events, old memories, people etc, that' just human brain, so it's natural because we can't think about so many subjects at the same time, we'd go insane or use a lot of energy.

I think your post is fine here.

In terms of people a lot aren't remembered well to begin with here (username placement is quite subtle and is often not the first thing you check - if you've not got a unique avatar I probably won't recognise you). The only other way I'll know who you are is if you provide some use/controversy enough that people quote you - or I think your posts are good.

Historically, humans have had very little to remember concisely. Since agriculture, you have to remember how your land looks and how you'll recognise it when you return if you get lost and that's about it. Your brain wasn't designed to read a few hundred thousand words a day and retain it all.

No one really knows how memory works too but I think we can all remember a time where we've thought of a memory we had no idea we knew or one that has spontaneously appeared (or both) and I get that a lot here. Am I going to edit a post I made 3 days or 3 months ago with a more detailed response? Will it even be read if I do? (this is a thought of mine I have quite often so if you have thoughts I want them).

Some people get comfortable too. History proves that more advanced things generally replace less advanced ones, no one looks at it as proving anytbing they don't want it to (such as the Mt Gox and ftx saga and all the other identical instances).
