Scammers are everywhere and they multiply day by day as long as money is involve scammers wont stop, scamming is the only work they know because its easy to get money.
true, the fraudsters will continue to exist as long as there are who still fall on traps...
scammers are not those who can't find another job but they see opportunities where there is still much they can trap.

Many scammers are not that smart, its the people that get scammed that are stupid.

Scammers can be avoided and prevented based on your awareness to it.

It is not that hard to determine those fake scams and fake giveaways that are existing in the internet. When you are knowledgeable about it, you will not become their victim and prevent losses in your asset. Like what most of the people say, "never trust easily" especially to those schemes that are obviously suspicious and sketchy.

Try to visit the beginners & help thread so that you have a lot of things to read regarding this topic.

Just know that there's always someone out there ready to steal your coins from you. It's left for you to either protect your funds by staying inform and updating your security measures or risk lossing them to others who knows the value of what you currently hold. The scams this days aren't new so with just few click away you can save yourself from falling victim. Always make it a priority to research before investing your money into any new adventure you find online.

Be very skeptical about anything you find online especially when it comes to cryptocurrencies because 99.9% of the time they're usual false at whatever they promise. Instead of trusting your funds to stranger invest that fund or some percentage of it into enlightening yourself. The scams are everywhere but so are the warnings, don't let ignorance lead you into losing your funds.

That's the reason we have to observe platform's before investing our btc, some of the btc investment groups are full of scam, before you see a legit site for investment is very difficult, scammers are desperate to achiever our bitcoins and move away, the only way we can overcome them is by observe before investing.I will advice to keep our coin's in our wallet when ever btc rise "we sell" instead of giving our btc to scammers.

Some weeks ago, I told two of my friends about bitcoin and how to use it, I tried to devote my time for them. The two of them like bitcoin  they were interested. I opened electrum wallet for them. After some weeks, it was even yesterday, a friend of mine contacted me using Whatsapp, he told me what he saw online, that it is even possible to double bitcoin online. He wanted to double his bitcoin, I told him that it can be a scam that he should send me the link.

Code:
https://bitcoindoubler.tech/

The website want people to deposit a minimum amount of 0.002 bitcoin to a maximum of 10 bitcoin, that in 10 hours the bitcoin will double. I told him immediately not to do it that it is a scam. I would have blamed myself for telling my friends about bitcoin, but I was happy because he did not send his bitcoin but told me about it before doing anything. But why are scam very obvious now, some are even having domain and nothing done about it. Is it because cryptocurrencies are not regulated the way it suppose to be or this is just how the world is?.
When you told that your friend or when telling any of your friends next time about bitcoin, tell them that just as it is with many online things/program/project and so on there are chances/possibility/potentiality of Scam, persuade them to be highly careful and less greedy.

With FORSAGE, supersage, loin share and so on and the many schemes it's sad and scary for -newbies- .
Thats the target of the scammers, the newbies, they tend to say some bubbly things that can persuade the newbies easily tho it will be an obvious scam for people who are involve in crypto for a long time but yeah some newbies still get scammed for it becaise of the explanation given to them by the scammers which isnt real, just like with forsage, they thought theyre earning but in rrality theyre just giving money to the scammers so a good research is definitely a need for beginners.

Well, this kind of attack has been there from the start... is one of the oldest ways that people get scammed. And it's amazing to see it still working nowadays.

We all get scammed in some point, and I think that's why the hackers keep pushing with this kind of scam. Some lessons are cheap and the other ones don't.

Keep reporting them is the right way to keep the community safe.

Good thing that your friend asked you first before trying to send his money to a strange website. It's true that you can possibly double your profit by just investing in bitcoin for a long term. But there is no such thing that you can easily double your money in bitcoins by just sending them a money because it is just like a Ponzi scheme that you could earn money by just inviting, which is obviously a scam.

If someone (you don't know) approaches and to talk to you about investing crypto or anything alike surely you don't trust nor you risk money with this person. But how online get into magic? Because scammers can use known names just to hide their scamming intentions. It is really sad but that is the reality in today's life. Most people got reck, encourage to risk a huge amount of money when hearing about "doubling your money, invest now get rich later" and etc.

Online can easily manipulate our minds especially when you have money and planning to invest. We don't talk to strangers, yeah, we are but someone got you talking about these Ponzi schemes( as I've mentioned above), it turns you out and boom.

The only thing scammers use to scam is what newbies think about bitcoin. Because most newbies come to the crypto market for the purpose of making quick profits, they are badly influenced by some people. Some Youtubers and some so called influncers present the value of Bitcoin differently to newcomers. As a result, they are more likely to talk about how to get quick rich with Bitcoin than to know about Bitcoin.

Not all newbies get mentors like you which is why they fall prey to such scams. These scams will continue as long as people are falling prey to these scams. Because they spend a lot of money on building these websites, if they did not get their money back, they would not have created these scam websites. So we all need to be vigilant and create a safe place for newcomers without scammers.

That's kinda of generalisation, and from my experience it's quite the opposite. Sure, some scammers are very intelligent and capable, using different platforms and ready to play long game in order to scam the victims, but quite a lot of them are actually very stupid, often even more than the persons they are trying to scam.
LOL, really get your point. They set trap and often they are easily detected by victims and scam hunter like you. Is it true ?  Cheesy

Scammer are smart people otherwise they will never succeed in getting victim. But so far I have not been too afraid of scam, but I am only afraid of hack because they can cause great destruction. Scam can be detected early and are easy to spot, but hacking is difficult to predict and anyone can fall victim.

I've been contacted by them on the daily basis via Telegram that is known as a scammers paradise, and a lot of them are so stupid that I feel like I could do the opposite and scam them, if I really try and put some effort into it. A lot of them are using the most rudimentary scamming techniques which require no skill, but they rely on law of large numbers, where they think that if they try some specific scam on enough people , sooner or later someone will fall for it.

Actually, those are the people (your friend) who are searching by the scammers. And scammers always do this even it would be regulated. And that is happening in this earth. They always find a new technique to do a scam. So I think regulation will not stop them completely. but may help to lessen the scams.

Scammers are intelligent, they are not just a scammer, they are thinking about how they will fool people using different platforms. They know that there are a lot of internet user who are circulation in many platforms. They see that social media is the best way on how they will make money with it. There are a lot of ignorant user in social medias so that it is the best platform that they are effective for them in making money.

I became a victim of a scam website before, they offer to double my money for only 1 day so as a beginner of this crypto world, I don't have any ideas about the scam and I cannot say if this is legit or real so I tried to invest 0.001BTC then 1 day had passed, I still don't receive my money and the interest but I still trust the website and I had waited for almost 5 days before I realized to myself that it is a fake website. I am disappointed with that but I just considered it as my lesson as a beginner in the crypto world. I learned that there is no legit investment website that will double your money for only a few days.

I won't invest anymore in this kind of website, maybe as a beginner, this is pretty much normal because we don't have enough knowledge about these things and we can easily trust people or things when they offer goods things from us, like making double our money. This is a really good offer but it is really impossible to happen. I am still new from the crypto world and I know that there are still many things that I can experience, better to gain knowledge first before trying or doing anything.

Scamming everywhere, people get lost their money...a lot of these things to be heard and read online. This is no wonder why once we approach someone and told about Bitcoin investment, they are directly saying it was a scam. How these things can be changes and should make people to fully trust Bitcoin if the situation will have no change.

Doubling your money for just a few hours doing nothing is obviously a scam tactic but I felt amazed because someone still becomes a victim to this. How desperate they are when talking about easy money and instant returns, they make themselves to be fooled to a thing that is really impossible to happen.

Once you enter an online world, there will be always scammers and also hackers. these two cannot be separated from the business. Moreover, about this crypto world, we can find so many scammers everywhere. It can be on the youtube channel, social media of Twitter, Facebook, telegram, and many others. you can also find them on this forum as what we can see from the scam projects. Additionally, you may also find the scammers on the websites, hyperlinks, and many more.

Mostly, the victims are:
1. newbies who do not know exactly about the crypto world
2. Those who are greedy of the high profits and not going to analyze them because they are already really interests on the rewards that scammers offer
3. Those who want to earn money in easy ways
4. Those who do not have willing to check and crosscheck every single information or promotion.
5. Those who can believe so easily on others,

That is why tell your friends that not to be greedy and must be careful in this crypto world in order to avoid scam and hackers.

There is nothing you should blame yourself about, at least you have taught them how to send and receive bitcoin as the main purpose and teachings to noonbs, scammers are everywhere so there is no way to stop them. Give yourself a time you introduce them into the forum especially into scam accusations board to be conversant with the skills scammers take to lure people into scam, those skills are money doubling scheme, investment platform offering higher percentage daily, referral/affiliate programs requesting to deposits first before withdrawing, e.t.c. These are what you could teach your friends so they could be strong enough to detect scammer's games.

I think this kind of scam have happened a lot in the crypto space. As a beginner, I am sure your friend will be interested in trying it out of curiosity. When he does, thats where the experience will emerge and it will be a lesson that the crypto world is filled with scammer with all kinds of trick.
But luckily your friend wanted to ask before doing that and he failed to fall into the conman trap. This will be an important lesson for everyone because without being careful, everyone is potentially exposed to fraud.

Is it because cryptocurrencies are not regulated the way it suppose to be or this is just how the world is?.

it is just how the world is. also, it is not about regulation. FIAT is regulated but you can still see tons of scam relating to it. one of the reasons why scams in cryptocurrency are rampant is because it has value just like FIAT and even if bitcoin or cryptocurrency is regulated as long as it has value scam relating to it will continue to show up.

It is obvious for you but sadly not everyone is like minded like you, some are easily roused into these pit traps and that is okay as that is not their fault (unless third time you have been conned), continuous education online is really helpful as it will reach the vast nook and crannies of Internet and people will surely reach it and hopefully saved themselves from possible pit traps that might encounter.

Some hope to earn easily and they fall from those kind of platform, we see so many events of scamming especially on social media and glad there are guys like OP who's knowledgeable about those things and educate his friends about how those scam site works and to avoid it. I believe their are so many attempts like this will be created, so continuous education about scams should really needed to make newbies aware.

I guess it's easy to make this kind of website and then just wait for someone or newbies that don't have enough knowledge in bitcoin and cryptocurrency.

They just need to wait for people to fall in their trap, when I was first starting in bitcoin I always want to invest in this kind of websites hoping to an easy profit but just end to be a small companies scam.

There are always a lot of opportunities for them to scam and I guess they really earning a big profit in scamming people that's is why they are not stopping to this kind of method, some people intentionally invested in the websites since you could easily earn at some point when you have a lot of referral in the websites, a lot of people are just getting encouraged by someone they don't know to invest.

It looks like they are giving free money if they do this. Are you Elon Musk to do that? Lol.

No I don't think Elon Musk will do such thing, no rich personalities will ever do that if they are going to be generous they will do that to poor people not to people who can invest, people should use their mind and ask questions why these programs will double your money, when even Google or Facebook will not and cannot do.

Scams are everywhere offline or online, you know that it is if they tell you things that sound unbelievable, they do this because in the back of our minds we want easy and fast money just like a lottery jackpot, but if you think that a bank or any other big company can't give you a huge profit if you put your money on them why would a small company or even an individual do that, just moderate your greed and you will see the light.
Just like what we always say here, if it's too good to be true, it probably is. Many people know that but only few care to apply it in real life. They still choose bite the trap of scammers without even having second thoughts. They're so greedy that they forget to have some speculations first regarding the matter even if it's obvious that it's a potential scam.

Just glad your friend didn't become a victim. Good thing you were there to give him reminders and advises regarding such.

Is there a EUR doubler service somewhere? You give the doubler a €100 bill and within 24 hours you get €200 back. Does that seem plausible? Treat your crypto with bigger care than your traditional money, because it's much more rare, and you don't get a 2nd chance to redo your mistakes.
Exactly this. People don't have basic understanding of how crypto works, all they know are stories about some people getting rich. When you combine greed and lack of knowledge, you get perfect victim. What's even worse, experienced people are  not immune to that, just look at defi and how many people that lost money during 2017 are doing the same mistake now.

People get scammed in traditional ways all the time , but with crypto all this has been pushed to another level.

Perfect example, that certain combination always being held as victims of those many scammers around. It's very important to know
more about the investment that your going to invest your money before participating.
Op' needs to keep informing his friend that there are other things around this industry, certain promises of doubling you money is too good

The fact that such sites exist is proof that there are plenty of people who believe that Bitcoin is created out of thin air. Scammers are taking advantage of their gullibility. Luckily your friend wasn't one of them. One of the first things I would tell people who are new to crypto is to apply the same logic you use with fiat.

Some people should try to investigate about a business or a website before investing anything on such websites, because of greed many people are scammed. I think of it that it is not possible for a website to double money in less than a day, this is not possible, it is just a scam. Some people are scammed because of greed, they do not want to be patient, they only believe in scam until they are scammed.

Due to the fact that recently the interest in cryptocurrencies among the population has begun to increase, and the level of knowledge does not always correspond to the required level, such frauds occur.
For example, the “action” of increasing your capital, which will end soon and you need to invest your funds as soon as possible, will cause suspicion among literate people. But those who hope only for good luck, without thinking and not having complete information about the project, will always be of interest.
For such people, scammers work. They spare no money for the promotion of projects that we call scams. As long as society is uneducated for all sorts of online fraud, scammers will come up with more and more fraudulent schemes.

A usual newbie approach. Being easily blinded by that kind of offer.

Where's the problem? The scammers? The people? A scam is already considered as part of the scheme even before Bitcoin's inception. Even way back old days.

I don't take that lack of regulation as a reason for these scams. Even with regulation, this kind of trick was easily being pulled out, and unfortunately, not just newbies, but even experienced ones also fall on the trap.

The sad truth is, people who are already aware of this scheme are taking chances. I don't know the reason but there's a thing in their mind telling them to test that obvious scam thinking they will get an advantage in the early phase.

As for OP's friend, good thing they don't throw away money at what the program is telling them. Use our common sense as much as possible.

Such obvious scams still exist simply because there ate still people who believe bitcoin can magically make them rich overnight.
Thankfully you were there to warn your friend. However, there are many others who fall for such blatant scams each day because of lack of awareness.
Lack of regulations is also one of the main reasons why crypto-market is considered a fertile ground for scammers.

It's not about being crypto as crypto or not totally regulated but as long as there is money involved, there's a scam.

There's no 100% protection against scams as even a trustworthy site can show their true color but unless we will use our common sense, we will minimize being scam especially for an obvious offer that is too good to be true.

For that kind of doubling the money offer, I really don't think it's because they are a newbie why they become interested but clearly, these people (your friend, sorry) are aggressive to make money without doing nothing.

This is a good demonstration of how a lot of people don't view Bitcoin as money, they view it as some sort of magic bean that makes everyone rich. If you offer someone to double their cash or bank account, they would think it's a scam, but they don't have the same thinking when it comes to Bitcoin, because the field of Bitcoin is so new and different to them, that they are forgetting everything they owned with traditional money.

Mind you, you should not blame yourself when people make the mistake of being greedy and get scammed, I've seen newbies asking if it's possible to protect others (not just themselves) on this network, and the answer is no, so even if you introduced them to the Bitcoin network, as long as you didn't tell them it's a money doubling scheme/network, then if they want to take the route to fast money, imo, the consequences should be on them and not on you.

A common saying goes, 'where there is sugar, ants gatheres'. It's not obvious to have scammers randomly theorize Bitcoin or Cryptocurrency as a field.
We've just got to stay the course and ensure accurate information sharing amongst forum users as we've obviously been doing and the cryptosphere would continue to be a safe place for all.

Even there is a regulation there are people who will find ways to scam others, We have laws but why there are still criminals?, I agree with molsewid it's not only about the scammers but also the lack of knowledge and the greediness and also out of desperation of the person, maybe the best prevention is having a knowledge and awareness because if there is an awareness there is also prevention of something that might happen to them.

You already said that it's so obvious yet scammers still do this kind of tricks because even if it's obvious, there are still people who fall for it just like your friend (but gladly he consulted with you first before doing anything). A lot of people really get attracted to the idea of easy money, especially newbies, and fall for it without knowing if it's real regardless if there's a regulation or not.

I don't think so, we aren't highlighting here about real worlds scam, just take look into your government then you will realize about real-life scams. Cryptocurrency scams highlighting because there is no tracking system on decentralized cryptocurrency. So it's quite impossible to identify real scammers.

Good to see that you saved your friends. I have to admit your friends wasn't much greedy, before send fund to the scammer he had asked you. If newbies share with seniors about such as scam attempts then they can save their valuable assets.

Scammers are everywhere because majority of people are into crypto because of profit, not because of idea and philosphy behind bitcoin. So naturally, greedy people are more prone to be scam victims, especially if they are ignorant, as many newbies are.

Is it because cryptocurrencies are not regulated the way it suppose to be?.
I guess that's it. With certain advantages comes also a disadvantage, what makes the advantage more balance is as to it's scaling in terms of balance. So long as the advantage out weighs the disadvantage then, it is allowed to persist.
It's no doubt scammers have taken to exploiting this system to suit their purpose.
Its normal that, where ever there is a good thing, there is also going to be some element to plague the system. Your security always turns to you. It's always a necessity that you should verify platforms before making any transaction as what is done as per sending your Bitcoin to other wallets or platforms can not be undone.
But again, no matter the regulations put in place, scammers are always going to be out looking for loopholes to exploit for their selfish advantage.

Actually, those are the people (your friend) who are searching by the scammers. And scammers always do this even it would be regulated. And that is happening in this earth. They always find a new technique to do a scam. So I think regulation will not stop them completely. but may help to lessen the scams.

The real issue here is not by being regulated, the main issue is the main idea of newbies in bitcoin. Newbies are the main target of the scheme because they know that it's too easy to earn in the bitcoin world. Newbie's first impression in bitcoin is too profitable, so if they see some chances like investing in some websites like this some of them will automatically join without thinking twice.

It will not stop until it's profitable to the owner of the website.

When encouraging someone to use bitcoin, please tell them to prevent investing in HYIP investment like this, or else they will become the next victim of these websites.

Minutes before you opened this topic:

BTC Help me. I have purchased mining software that doubles my bitcoins as Bitcoin Core on my Computer.

Is it because cryptocurrencies are not regulated the way it suppose to be or this is just how the world is?.

Regulation has nothing to do, scams were happening with fiat, ponzi schemes are a hundred years old, the thing is not about the laws.

Most of the people that are coming to bitcoin are here for gains, they've heard stories about making x10 x100 profits so for the most of them an obvious ponzi scheme seems legit because they know from a trustable source that indeed it is possible to make profits in short time with cryptos. So they fall for all the tricks out there.
The other problem lies with the easy way scammers can get away, transactions are irreversible, there is no way of freezing those accounts, most victims won't press charges for 100-200$ because they know it will cost them 10x more to even take to court someone that resides across the globe and there you have it. The perfect combination. Cry

It’s not a regulation related issue per se, but rather more the existence of ruthless people that can hide behind anonymity (for the most), in order to swindle gullible people. Crypto somehow seems to have an aurora around it, that somehow leads people to believe that getting rich is quick, easy and painless. Add to that inexperience, and messages that often prompt you to act swiftly before the offer runs out, and you get your call to action in motion. Someone’s bound to take the bait, so repeat and rinse the modus-operandi with slight changes in incentive and site appearance.

Take a look at this:

It’s hard to conceive that someone will believe that you’ll make 120% after 24 hours, 140% after 2 days or 300% after 24 with a VIP plan. That can only be a straight-up scam. These types of sites are created/cloned frequently, and tend to copy their modus-operandi, structure and even the set of FAQs from one to another. Create one, scam a few, close it, repeat and rinse.

How exactly did you get to know of this site (further than "got in touch with a random on the internet that recommended me this site")?
This is often something that is not detailed when we see the aftermaths, and it’s just as important to get to know, since it creates awareness on the points of contact origin.

I’m also curious how this paced so quickly: The scammers domain was registered barely ten days ago (which does not mean the site has been up for so long).

By the way, performing a quick reverse image on the alleged CEO renders (without going into investigating them any further):
-   A Mark Smith (now degraded to Investor) on a very similar look-alike site (https://www[dot]babylon[dot]co[dot]uk[dot]index.html)
-   An Ed Machen who provides a testimony on a College consulting site
-   A nameless guy at company that "builds innovative companies and disrupt markets" (he’s in the team of finance/investment).
-   Yet another sibling of the scam family of sites described in the OP (https://btc-train[dot]uk), where our guy has now regained the title and name as in the OP (RUSS MEDLIN - CEO).
-   And yet another one (https://cryptosheart[dot]com), where our CEO is now Antonio Conte, degraded to Marketing Head.
-   And again (…) another site belonging to the scam saga, where our CEO is now Antonio Conte (again), Head of Trading.

Damn, how much is this guy making? ...

Ok, I’ve had my fun. The list goes on for pages and pages of google image search results ...

If you want to have some (careful) fun, skim through the search results that I pointed at in the above post: There are 11 pages of results with (nearly all) the same presumed CEO of a swindler website, being used for multiple scam sites, many of which have a similar look and feel. This shows how some of these sites are related, with changes in bait here and there. Now go and get some social engineering in motion to spread the links and wait for the bite ...

Fraud has always been and will be in human history, this cannot be avoided.
Everything is even easier on the internet because it is much easier to hide the true identity and it is harder to discover and punish the culprit.
In addition, in times of crisis, people become desperate and are ready to try anything to get out of trouble.
You're a really good friend.
Maybe your friend has some knowledge and skills that he can offer here on the forum, like translating or programming, and earn something in a fair way.

To put it simply, it's quite easy to scam people(by taking advantage of the gullibility of a lot of people) and at the same time with the high likeliness of getting away scot-free. I mean, bitcoin and most cryptocurrencies are pseudonymous; that alone should be enough of a warning. And along with that, there are domain name services which doesn't require KYC, and you can even use bitcoin with some.
