It would have been nice to get an email explaining what to do, instead of having to hunt thought the forums.

Hi, I am very new to this site and would like to post a reply to one of the 'normal posts', not within the newbie section. What do I need to do in order to make it work for me ?

Thanks

Y
Read above in this thread. Two people (myself included) have fully explained the requirements for posting outside of the newbie board already. Tongue Happy posting!

I believe it's now 1 post + 4 hours since your first post, which is much more relaxed.

You can read it here https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/--274235

I believe the five-posts requirement has since been revoked; you now just need to make one post and wait for four hours after you post it. Your newbie restrictions will then be automatically lifted.

Wow i found out that i have to post 5 posts here?
Now i have my first post and need 4 others.. not that i will spam, but i just wanted to reply in a specific post which i'm not able to at this moment.

PS: Just used my backspace, trying to post my first post it said: "The last posting from your IP was less than 360 seconds ago. Please try again later." which seems a bit buggy since i never posted before.

Also, so nobody can't just create new accounts and get just free giveaways

Well, to counter this, companies that give these giveaways usually put a minimum of activity you need to join their promo.

I thought the restrictions were too heavy when I joined, too, but since joining I've realised that giving people the ability to instantly create several accounts and post everywhere on them would really damage the spirit of some of the giveaways, competitions etcetera. Four hours isn't that long Smiley

I know exactly what you mean. In fact, I'd even suggest making it more strict now to deter beggers/and lazy/eager scammers signing up willy-nilly.

Now the other Party says that we are two Americas. Don't you believe that either. I have visited our troops in Iraq, Kuwait, Bosnia, Germany and all over the world. I've visited our troops in California, where they train before they go overseas. I have visited our military hospitals. And I tell you this: that our men and women in uniform do not believe there are two Americas. They believe there's one America and they are fighting for it!

How is this even related to the topic?

Dont want us noobs ruining you nice forums. I think it would be nice to have some better direction for noobs that make this forums easier to find.

Yeah, in the beginning, the restrictions of searches and posting was very annoying.

But these do go away bit by bit as you stay here for a bit and become jr member, member, etc.

These are implemented to prevent spamming.

You can post on local boards though. But that somehow doesn't add to the required post count.

It helps reduce spamming.

Also, in the past, it was a lot harder to escape the newbie jail. It has already been made easier now.
