Everyone loves and prefer Bitcoin but do not blame those that are also investing in altcoins, they are known to be more risky but they are also known to be more profitable than Bitcoin, people are talking shit about altcoins and I have heard so many in the past that later, all those alts they called shit turned to perfume the best.

Some talked shit about meme coins and Shiba inu brings more than a thousand percentage for investors, I could remember Axie infinity, people are saying its a crap project, it's going to die, yet this project did x1000 too, till today this project is still developing, it just turned out that people loves Axie infinity more.

There are different set of altcoins that have turned my $100 into thousands of dollars, I was holding Bitcoin at the time, but the profit I made from Bitcoin is way so less than what altcoins have given me, it's your choice if you believe that taking risks on altcoins are not worth it, yet you will be seeing many people placing bet on soccer games and they never turn their lives around.

They spent every penny on sports bets and online gambling, and yet altcoins are bad, which is more riskier? I know what altcoins have done in my life, and I will always add some to my crypto portfolio, no hate.
We do not blame those who are investing in altcoins because that is their choice and we can not force them to just invest in Bitcoin. They can still do that if they think they have more opportunities to make a big profit by investing in altcoins. We just advise them to be careful and not invest because of other people's suggestions. We need to find the altcoin by ourselves so there will be no regret when we can not make a profit.

Some people have already invested in meme coins but do not tell too many people. We do not know their reason and as I said before, that is their choice to select any coins they want to be their investment. Besides that, that is their money and they must be responsible with their money by selecting the right coins for their investment. They can not blame other people if they can not make a profit, especially if they follow other people's suggestions. That is why they need to analyze themselves to find the coin.

Many people have the same experience as you because they invested in the right altcoins. We can not deny that the altcoin can boost our profit become bigger but after we profit from the altcoins, we should go back to Bitcoin because that will be the Bitcoin next turn that will give us a big profit.

Bitcoin main purpose according to Satoshi himself, is as an alternative payment to fiat currency. But over the years bitcoin has grown in such a way that many have seen it’s potential of been a great investment asset.
Indeed, basically bitcoin was created by Satoshi Nakamoto with the aim of being used as a means of payment. But as time goes by, bitcoin begins to show excellent potential. Such as the number of enthusiasts continuing to increase, as well as the price aspect continuing to increase. Therefore, many Bitcoin users are investing in it. Because bitcoin does have excellent potential to generate profits. In addition, currently making payments using bitcoin in most countries is still strictly prohibited, and as far as I know, only the country of El Salvador currently legalizes bitcoin as a means of payment.

So because there are many prohibitions on making payments using bitcoin in almost all countries. Creating investment and trading channels can now be an alternative way to use Bitcoin to make money and possibly become a store of value. Because investing in bitcoin is more permitted by the governments of each country than making payments with bitcoin. So in my personal opinion, maybe because of that, Bitcoin is more widely used as an investment asset than as a means of payment.

Due to all these advantages some  people have not only taken bitcoin as an investment asset but have generalized it to other cryptocurrencies as well. Some have thoughts that investing in these alternative coins are actually diversification of one’s portfolio. But is this really portfolio diversification?
Generalizing altcoins with bitcoin may be a valid opinion for some people. Because as we know, altcoins are currently created because of the presence of Bitcoin. Or more precisely because it was inspired by Bitcoin. So most likely everyone thinks that cryptocurrencies that exist today could in the future have the same potential as bitcoin. However, while this is far from a possibility, many crypto investors are looking to gain more from investing or trading altcoins. Because it cannot be denied, sometimes there are altcoins that experience crazy price increases and make altcoin investors reap big profits. So I think investing in altcoins is okay, as long as you are ready to face all the risks. The reason is, the risk of crypto investment is much greater than bitcoin investment.
And in general bitcoin and altcoins do have differences, but in essence they are on the same path, namely as crypto currencies

Bitcoin is not the only crypto currency that can be used as an investment asset. There are other coins on the market, but because Bitcoin is the top leading crypto in the market, that is why it is more popular in the world.
What is the essence of other coins if they are not meant for investment purposes? If the price of Ethereum reaches the same amount as Bitcoin, it will be more popular than it is now. Other coins can be used as investment assets and they can also be used as a payment method in some businesses.
Moreover, there were other coins on the market before the existence of Bitcoin, but many of these altcoins are not to be found. These are the names of the oldest crypto currencies that existed before the launch of Bitcoin eCash, B-money, Bit Gold, and Hashcash

Bitcoin Is not really the crypto currency used for investing. There are others such as Ethereum,XRP e.t.c just that Bitcoin Is the most reliable and profitable amongst other crypto currencies. Take for instance you invest your Ethereum and Bitcoin on different trading platforms, Bitcoin will yield greater profit and massive profit is the utmost reason why traders invest.

1. Decentralization

In addition to what you mentioned some other reasons why Bitcoin has a lot of acknowledgment and people see it as a great investment asset is it
1 Consensus
2 Censorship resistance
3 Durable

But is this really portfolio diversification?

Diversification of investment in crypto has to do with allocating some portion of the investment capital to 2 or more cryptocurrencies. The idea of doing this is to reduce overall investment risk by spreading it across different crypto assets or bonds.

I think bitcoins is the only strong and first and foremost coins that ever existed which makes it a good pair for every other coins/token. This is the reason why every other coins follow it's price movement. From my point of view, every Cryptocurrency attached to bitcoins works in line with bitcoins price which means if you invest on bitcoins or other coins linked to bitcoins, one is to expect almost same result. Altcoins are not too bad but they are full  of risk and uncertainty as they can be rug pulled.

Need to look at what altcoins are holding, top altcoins like Ethereum would not be rug altcoins so that risk would not occur. But for a new altcoin project, of course it will be more at risk of a rug happening. Bitcoin is indeed the first coin that you have to hold, because it's important. With almost the same results, but Bitcoin determines everything so that when another bullish Bitcoin follows it, but in some cases sometimes Bitcoin is bullish and others are bearish.

Due to all these advantages some  people have not only taken bitcoin as an investment asset but have generalized it to other cryptocurrencies as well
If we should go on to talk about investing in a digital asset, bitcoin is the first thing that people think of before they discuss investing in another cryptocurrency. However, the high cost of Bitcoin typically deters some investors from investing in bitcoin. Instead, they choose to utilize other altcoins since they are less expensive than bitcoin. Investing in altcoins simply means that, during a bull market, they will make more money than if they had bitcoin in their portfolio.

Aside bitcoin, treat alternative cryptocurrencies as pump and dump coins that they are.
Altcoin will not only be treated as a pump-and-dump coin but also as a short-term investment strategy rather than a long-term plan like bitcoin. People should only invest money they can afford to lose either in bitcoin or altcoins

I don't think investing in altcoin is a bad thing. If you have proper knowledge of the coin and market then you can make your research and choose a better coin to invest in. There are many altcoins out there and choosing a good coin to invest in. That's the main reason why people are advised to just stick to Bitcoin if they don't know much about altcoins.
It won't be bad to diversify your coins if you know what you're doing.

In terms of long-term investment, Bitcoin should undoubtedly be the only coin you should consider. I don't trust any coin that much to hodl them for a very long period.
Diversification of assets is always a good thing if well calculated. It doesn't have to be only gold and stock, nothing wrong in diversifying to altcoins that you trust a bit.

Diversification of portfolio can be termed the process by which investors, invest in different assets to mitigate a loss been encountered in a particular asset.

Alternative cryptocurrencies cannot be regarded as diversification of portfolio because;
1. Most of all the altcoins follow the same price trend as bitcoin, with just few going higher than it due to hype, which has made many to call them pump and dump coins.
financial
2. Bitcoin is the only true decentralized cryptocurrency and as such eliminates the fear of centralization which is in many altcoins which could be use to manipulate its market.

3. Bitcoin supply limit is what makes it a store of value and also an hedge against inflation, giving it an edge ahead of other cryptocurrencies.

With all these and more, and most importantly the fact that bitcoin price change is actually been followed by other cryptocurrency which are not secure, makes them more risky to be used as an investment asset.

It will be better to look into other assets like stock, gold and real estate for an ideal portfolio diversification

Aside bitcoin, treat alternative cryptocurrencies as pump and dump coins that they are.

Note: I am not advising anyone on investment
You shouldn't write misleading things about financial investments in the beginners section, but being way more cautious than that. Bitcoin is not a store of value or an hedge against inflation, neither provides guaranteed great returns on investment. All those claims are just BS for noobs IMO. Bitcoin is a high volatile and risky asset and altcoins are just higher volatile and riskier assets. But having more risky and volatile assets doesn't make Bitcoin a safe haven. Investing in Bitcoin is still mostly gambling and newcomers/beginners should only invest what they can afford to lose.

There could be some cryptocurrencies out there that could/might also be used as investment assets. However, Bitcoin remains the best as it has the most solid foundation and is currently known as 'the king' and the most trusted cryptocurrency. In my opinion, it is the safest crypto investment, but it will take time if the investor chooses a long-term investment. Its volatility can be useful for those who want to short.
Note to do your own research.

Well, just for you to know, why is Cryptocurrency present in our midst today and being introduced. Yes, nothing but for changes in the current financial infrastructure and this is why crypto is unique. Currently it is often discussed as one of the factors that can provide benefits for its users, both investors and financial institutions. However, behind these advantages, there are risks that we must understand further.

Now, according to my opinion, what you are asking is because Bitcoin is the leader of coins/tokens and the price is predicted to continue to increase and can be used as a means of payment. Well, that's why bitcoin BTC is considered an option that is used as an investment asset.

The use of Bitcoin is to become decentralized. Still, due to the number of people who want to have this and don't have an idea how to have it, they need to use a centralized platform, for example, exchange, so they can buy the coin they want as an investment or trading, most of the platform supports the use of the bitcoin rarely seen a platform that doesn't have a bitcoin, of course, its the mother of all coins, for me one of the reasons why the cryptocurrency is ideal to use is because of the security that the blockchain can give and being transparent unlike the current state of the mode of payment can be interrupted or make an under the table transactions.
If you know how to properly use the bitcoin or the crypto sure you can get a good profit.

5. Adoption rate.
Of the 5 advantages of investing in Bitcoin, the store of value is the first thing that can be used as a reference. A large return on investment can be obtained by investing in the long term.
There are some altcoins that can also get great returns if invested, but not all altcoins. Most altcoins end up in disposal.

Note: I am not advising anyone on investment
I would suggest investing in Bitcoin because you already know about the advantages of Bitcoin if it is used as an investment asset even though the purpose of Bitcoin is to serve as an alternative to fiat currency payments.
Bitcoin gives freedom to owners to use it as they wish, may be for payment and may be used as an investment.

Due to all these advantages some  people have not only taken bitcoin as an investment asset but have generalized it to other cryptocurrencies as well. Some have thoughts that investing in these alternative coins are actually diversification of one’s portfolio. But is this really portfolio diversification?
Bitcoin is an alternative payment mechanism, however owing to its volatile nature, lack of central authority, and a few other reasons, its value may rise or fall over time. As a result, individuals now see bitcoin as an investment that may be profitable over time, and they want to take advantage of this by holding onto bitcoin for a longer period of time. Other alternative coins are likewise viewed as investments to be held similarly to bitcoin because they share characteristics with bitcoin and are equally volatile, but since they follow bitcoin's price trend, they are worthless if bitcoin doesn't move. Diversification of portfolio may not be much of a use during bear market but can be highly profitable during bull runs even more profitable than bitcoin itself.

Alternative cryptocurrencies cannot be regarded as diversification of portfolio because;
1. Most of all the altcoins follow the same price trend as bitcoin, with just few going higher than it due to hype, which has made many to call them pump and dump coins.
You are right but It can sometimes be regarded as Portfolio diversification in terms of bull market where most of these coins yield greater profits than bitcoin. It just that since they follow bitcoin price trend they can’t be much of a help during bear market.

It will be better to look into other assets like stock, gold and real estate for an ideal portfolio diversification

Aside bitcoin, treat alternative cryptocurrencies as pump and dump coins that they are.
Alternative coins may seem meaningless, but you can't write them off either because they have the potential to turn a trader into a millionaire when the market is strong. As they both have the same potential for profit, I will instead treat bitcoin and alternative coin investments as a single class and refer to them as cryptocurrency investments and then i will also, as you suggested, look into other investments like real estate investments.

I know, most people in this forum hate altcoins, what I mean is when people saying things like 'Diversify their crypto investment' they are talking about diversifying their altcoin, Bitcoin not included it's a must have. So they already own bitcoin, they want to invest in altcoins, but it's better to invest in different altcoins rather than only one altcoin.

Actually the main purpose of Bitcoin is used to be as a currency, not as a commodity or something that you need to hold for a long time.

So it's really subjective matter and you can't force every people to use Bitcoin as a commodity.

If only 5 reasons above why Bitcoin is the only cryptocurrency to be used as an investment asset, you're wrong because Litecoin is pretty much same, so it's not only one. You forgot about with the most important reason, Bitcoin is the first currency while the others are only following and change few thing to make it different.

I don't think Bitcoin is the only cryptocurrency to be used as an investment but it is the common or most used by many people. There are thousands of crypto projects in the market and there are those that are stable coins and volatile coins. If we know what we are doing, we can dive into some of the good projects in the market and use them as investment asset. It all depends on us and the motive we have to wards our investment. Bitcoin is a good and reputable coin that will last as long as the cryptocurrency market is in existence. Bitcoin has good volatility and we can be assured that we are going to make good profits from it just like other coin projects in the market that we can buy and hold as long as we want to.

Bitcoin is not the only crypto currency that could be used as an investment asset, but it's the most commonly used digital currency as an investment asset. Aside from the above-mentioned features that Bitcoin possesses, it's also one of the oldest and first to be accepted for the exchange of goods or services.

People choose what they want to use as investment assets after considering the risk involved in all of the assets presented to them. The risk of losing everything is not the only important thing, as the amount of risk that could be accumulated also follows. This is the reason why most people out there choose to invest in some altcoins rather than Bitcoin because the possibility of the altcoin giving them a short-term huge profit is larger than the chance they can get with Bitcoin without considering the risk involved in terms of also losing everything to that Altcoin while waiting for that profit.

We Bitcoiners overlook the get-rich-quick features and consider risk reduction, considering the long-term holding decision.

Having a limited supply makes it scarce and it even more scarce because of the halving. Putting up the numbers and calculating the input that it has got for those factors make it a great value as an investment.

Even if satoshi firstly implemented it as an alternative payment for fiat, change is really constant and that's seen on Bitcoin as everyone is treating it mostly now as an asset.

Maybe satoshi anticipated that knowing that it has got a limited supply or probably not. Not a problem if someone is diversifying a lot with their assets through many altcoins but the mistake they're doing is that, they're setting for less and not putting BTC as their priority pick.

As an investor, when you're diversifying your investment into altcoins and thinking you're making a smart move, you're not and you should know that you're making a financial mistakes that others have made before and they have understood that Bitcoin shouldn't be substituted for altcoins. Altcoins can give your profits but they aren't better investment opportunity than Bitcoin. In years to come bitcoin will still be standing strong but most of the altcoins won't be in the trading again or they won't be popular as they're at the moment. Altcoins has a short term lifespan while bitcoin is everlasting.

Bitcoin wasn't created as an investment assets but it has turned to one because of some of its unique features. We should learn to diversify our investment outside of cryptocurrency just to be on the safer side. After investing in Bitcoin resist the urge to invest in altcoins and use that money to invest in other assets that are valuable like Bitcoin. We have other investment that can help you when bitcoin is experiencing some setback (price correction). I'm a big fan of having investments that has direct impact to helping humanity like investment in Real estate, investing in the education system and the rest.

I believe that the upcoming bull market will play a crucial role in determining the future direction of investments made by cryptocurrency whales. If the returns on investment following this bullish period do not justify holding onto a particular coin, similar to other top coins, there will likely be a significant diversification of investments into the next promising market.
Among the factors you mentioned as defining features of Bitcoin, four of them can also be found in other leading cryptocurrencies. For instance, BNB (Binance Coin) is considered a top coin that could potentially challenge Bitcoin's position, causing some investors to shift their focus and funds from BNB back to Bitcoin.

You have a good point here, I do agree if you already invest in Bitcoin investing in most altcoins is not a diversification since most of them follow bitcoin price.
Yep, most of them follow Bitcoin price but not every coin follows Bitcoin price. Meme coins and stable coins sometimes can increase their prices differently, we often saw they are increasing when Bitcoin price is decreasing.

But I think when most people talking about diversification in crypto is to diversify their altcoin choice if they choose to invest in altcoin,
What do you mean?
Sure, people have the option for diversification on altcoins. However, there are some people who invest in Bitcoin only because they don't want to take bigger risks in altcoins.

Mostly people prioritize to invest in Bitcoin, they probably put 50% of their money in Bitcoin at least. While for altcoins, it can be varied, it depends on how many altcoins they want to invest in. Every investor can be different about the percentage on dividing the money in to altcoins.

Holding different types of altcoins does not count as diversification, that is simply gambling.

I think the only reason why Bitcoin is the most preferred Crypto to be used as an investment asset is the quantity of it being available in the market and the mathematics behind it.
That's definitely not the only reason. Scarcity supports value; so if an asset is valuable making it scarce can create more demand against supply. Scarcity alone can only bloat the price but cannot sustain it for a long period of time.

Also, the fact that it will take centuries to reach the 21 million digit is crazy. I can surely say that the 21,000,000th coin will never be mined.
It will take just over a hundred years for all bitcoins to be mined.
And the 21 millionth Bitcoin will be mined, it will only be a few days short.

Alternative cryptocurrencies cannot be regarded as diversification of portfolio because;
1. Most of all the altcoins follow the same price trend as bitcoin, with just few going higher than it due to hype, which has made many to call them pump and dump coins.

Pump and dump coins have dominated the cryptocurrency market, causing many investors to lose their holdings owing to their reliance on them for long-term profit. But they had no idea that the majority of these coins would leave the market once their creators profited from people's investment in them.

Quote
2. Bitcoin is the only true decentralized cryptocurrency and as such eliminates the fear of centralization which is in many altcoins which could be use to manipulate its market.

Bitcoin is the only decentralised cryptocurrency and will remain so in the future. Other coins follow the same pattern, and their prices are controlled by a central course.  Such coins already reflect centralisation tendencies, therefore thus cannot be reliant on such activity.

Quote
3. Bitcoin supply limit is what makes it a store of value and also an hedge against inflation, giving it an edge ahead of other cryptocurrencies.

The limited total supply of bitcoin has distinguished it from other cryptocurrencies. We may not live to see when the last bitcoin is mined, but I can only imagine how other coins will react when there is no more bitcoin available for mining. Will the majority of them leave the market, or will they continue to exist and want to stand out, as bitcoin already does?

For people just getting into crypto, the practice of investing will always be the best way to start with Bitcoin. In addition, investing in Bitcoin will save many from today's inflation; keeping your savings in it, as well as holding it properly for a long period, will undoubtedly bring more profit than altcoins that periodically turn into dust.

Well, that is, unless they hit the lottery. I'm sure next cycle there will be altcoins that will make X100, while Bitcoin won't even remotely give that return. The question is to get which one right, knowing also that there will be many more than 100 altcoins that will go to 0 or lose more than 99% of value.

Today I think it is more worthwhile to invest in Bitcoin for its intrinsic properties, which is something the OP points out, than for the security of a moderate return, not because it will give spectacular returns in the next cycles, no matter what some influencers want to sell us.

About return on investment, it might be a loss for a long time for people that invested at the wrong time. Example are people that invested at $50000. But bitcoin is still going above $50000 again. Even above $100000.

Those who invested in Bitcoin when it reached its ATH of 21k got high returns in 2021 If they had not panicked and sold it for a loss before. At whatever price point you buy Bitcoin it will always give you a high return if you have diamond hands. If you cannot hold and tend to panic when the market goes down then you should not invest in Bitcoin. Weak hands in any kind of investment would always suffer losses. There are other shitcoins that can give you 2x, 5x, 10x, or even 100x on your investment but they do perish fast and you could lose money, whereas if you keep on believing Bitcoin it will surely give you better returns than gold or property in the long run.

The term diversification of the investment portfolio is a term intended to invest in several categories of assets that move opposite to each other or independent of each other so that the losses are straight or not connected to each other. investments, but rather a division of risk.

If you invest in stocks, you will find an unclear correlation between some stocks, such as technology stocks, with stocks in the agricultural sectors, and opposite stocks, such as stocks of oil companies with renewable energies, but they all fall under the stock item, which means risk distribution, not diversification of portfolio.

A well-distributed portfolio contains assets such as gold, dollars, stocks, real estate, and cryptocurrencies.

In cryptocurrencies, you can invest in Bitcoin and try to reduce the risk by investing in altcoins, but historically, these altcoins have proven to be a bad investment in the long run.

Aside bitcoin, treat alternative cryptocurrencies as pump and dump coins that they are.
Thats a good advise but people have the right to choose if they want to invest on other products like altcoins. How can you say all alts are pump and dumps. Yes there are some but definitely not all and there are other alts that has progressing to the level of bitcoin and can be considered as blue chip as well.

Bitcoin = Financial freedom
As of today's price valuation, the market cap value of total crypto is 1.17 Trillion dollars but bitcoin only has 48% of the total share which is 560 billion so the remaining 50% is invested in the so-called altcoins.
~snip~

Market cap does not represent investments, but only the possible value of coins that are often manipulated to make them look more attractive. Most of the altcoins market is just one big mirage, but people often see exactly what they want to see, until they realize that there is actually nothing of value out there.
Marketcap valuation may not be entirely accurate but it does represent that people are ready to throw their money away apart from Bitcoin and its expected since we started to call crypto as investments over P2P payment mode. And you are right people are always looking for the next Bitcoin, next Ethereum, next Dogecoin so with less capital they can make millions which is somewhat similar to expect winning a lottery.

Some people will learn that it is stupid to expect such returns or they will keep doing it so my point is it's our choice to decide where we want to stand.

I agree that it would be better to go in that direction, but you also have to understand that it is much easier to invest in cryptocurrencies than in gold, real estate, or stocks. When I say "easier", I mean primarily those who invest money in altcoins, and it is mainly about the younger population who dreams of overnight success, many of whom are minors and may not even have a bank account.

What makes cryptocurrencies attractive is the fact that you only need a smartphone+internet and some app to invest, which is much easier than buying physical gold or shares for which you still need a broker who will do it for you. If something is simple, accessible to most people and with the possibility of a possible big profit, then you don't have to wonder why it attracts so many people.

Bitcoin Bottom was at $15.4k
I think the only reason why Bitcoin is the most preferred Crypto to be used as an investment asset is the quantity of it being available in the market and the mathematics behind it.
Ethereum's Unique Selling Point is its functionality, smart contracts, etc. however Bitcoin is a solid investment because of its scarcity. There are only 21 Million of them to be ever created.
Also, the fact that it will take centuries to reach the 21 million digit is crazy. I can surely say that the 21,000,000th coin will never be mined.

Alternative cryptocurrencies cannot be regarded as diversification of portfolio because;
1. Most of all the altcoins follow the same price trend as bitcoin, with just few going higher than it due to hype, which has made many to call them pump and dump coins.
Bitcoin goes up with hype too but a biggest difference between Bitcoin and altcoins is decentralization, from its network to developer and user communities. Altcoins are centralized so their core teams can abandon their projects which will become dead anytime.

Quote
2. Bitcoin is the only true decentralized cryptocurrency and as such eliminates the fear of centralization which is in many altcoins which could be use to manipulate its market.
Bitcoin and altcoins are all can be manipulated by whales. They are not different and generally the total marketcap of cryptocurrency market is very small and easy to manipulate.

Quote
3. Bitcoin supply limit is what makes it a store of value and also an hedge against inflation, giving it an edge ahead of other cryptocurrencies.
You're missing a point.

Only a limited total supply does not create any value. You need examples?

Please look at altcoins, more specifically Bitcoin forks.

Some crypto investors will argue that one can diversify their investors by buying some altcoins. Some will even give you a list of some altcoin that is worth investing in. Maybe they understand the sector more than me. But for me, investing in altcoin is very risky. I don't really have the proper risk management skill to handle the high rate of uncertainties that rules the altcoin sector. Apart from Bitcoin my best investment option will be real estate. So I will gladly diversify my investment by buying affordable lands and houses in my country than risk buying some altcoins.

As of today's price valuation, the market cap value of total crypto is 1.17 Trillion dollars but bitcoin only has 48% of the total share which is 560 billion so the remaining 50% is invested in the so-called altcoins. Debating whether we really need to have any cryptos beyond Bitcoin is pointless since we already have thousands of others which are alive at the moment so it's entirely the users' choice to decide where they want to put their motgat
The market cap of Bitcoin makes it very difficult for individuals or corporate bodies to manipulate. And bitcoin is gradually becoming a currency that recovers easily from attacks by certain unfriendly firms or individuals. In recent times FUD has had little or no effect on its price. I can not guarantee that some altcoin has enough market cap to withstand minimal attacks. Most of these altcoins collapse immediately after a key player dumps them.

Due to all these advantages some  people have not only taken bitcoin as an investment asset but have generalized it to other cryptocurrencies as well. Some have thoughts that investing in these alternative coins are actually diversification of one’s portfolio. But is this really portfolio diversification?
Most people that actually consider buying different altcoins as portfolio diversification are mostly doing it because of FOMO because halving is coming, while some are doing it because of their beliefs in altcoin.

Buying gold, and investing in real estate can be another form of investment outside cryptocurrencies which is good, but investing in different altcoin to me is not a wise decision since all of them follow the trend of Bitcoin price to grow.

Apart from Bitcoin, no any other coin is guaranteed, Do Your Own Research and make a decision if you find any altcoin worth of investment.

I only prefer Bitcoin because it's proven, and not likely to be changed by the creator but I don't feel the same with any other coin that is why I only prefer bitcoin for investment and even for most trading purposes I just go with stable coin pairs only for day trading purpose.

Lightning network is good with small amount of BTC
Bitcoin is decentralized has been what I like about it as the adoption rate is very significant too. What I also like about it is the fixed supply and scarcity.

Note: I am not advising anyone on investment
This is clearly about bitcoin, not advertisment.

About return on investment, it might be a loss for a long time for people that invested at the wrong time. Example are people that invested at $50000. But bitcoin is still going above $50000 again. Even above $100000.

Bitcoin main purpose according to Satoshi himself, is as an alternative payment to fiat currency. But over the years bitcoin has grown in such a way that many have seen it’s potential of been a great investment asset. This could be deduced from some of the advantages of his below;
1. Decentralization
2. Stores of value
3. Great Return on Investment
4. Fixed Number or Supply
5. Adoption rate.

Due to all these advantages some  people have not only taken bitcoin as an investment asset but have generalized it to other cryptocurrencies as well. Some have thoughts that investing in these alternative coins are actually diversification of one’s portfolio. But is this really portfolio diversification?

Diversification of portfolio can be termed the process by which investors, invest in different assets to mitigate a loss been encountered in a particular asset.

Alternative cryptocurrencies cannot be regarded as diversification of portfolio because;
1. Most of all the altcoins follow the same price trend as bitcoin, with just few going higher than it due to hype, which has made many to call them pump and dump coins.
