Bitcoin may pump up but it wouldn't be "like crazy" as mentioned by the OP. I am also in support of those who want a gentle growth. If bitcoin pumps like crazy, it means it will fall like crazy as well. All we have to do is to avoid those negative minded people who are always spreading fake news just to cause fear and panic in the market to ruin crypto.

Actually everything is possible and, sooner or later, a bull run and then a new bubble have all the necessary background prepared. Really, right now I don't see too many scenarios I could clearly rule as "impossible", neither good scenarios, nor bad ones.

First of all throw away all TA you have seen and every good news idea you have been waiting for. Tho I have been in crypto for a little time I have realized that all that people base on to predict the bull market are mostly untrue (at least, for now).

Now the only reason that can pump Bitcoin on the market is that, people ridiculing and price watching even though they've not bought in can pump it. What happens is that, after every bubble people look out for the "subject of topic" to collapse. If it doesn't, they come and join like crazy and that's why Bitcoin skyrocketed in 2017.

So all we have to know is that should Bitcoin pull through this mess again, lol . .we're gonna moonrocket and that'll be because all those who thought we're done forever (Haters, Press, Analysts, Economists, those who cashed out, etc) will catalyse a never seen before FOMO.

So as for me, I'm not waiting for any Bakkt, ETF, Government regulations, Institutional Investors, Venture Capitalists, etc....I'm just waiting for 2019 to pass by and we'll see.

Bitcoin skyrocketed in 2017 because of price and volume manipulation in exchanges, pump and dump schemes, hardforks and printing million of tether. Nobody can do it again and get the same effect because things are more stricter now thanks to SEC.

We are moving towards to another phase,if we can convince the government to adopt Bitcoin then it can increase the price, etf, bakkt could be the trigger to make the price go up but it won't stay forever, so we need permit from government and adoption from big companies to make the price go to the peak again

Well what you're saying here is probably years in the making. I don't see any government permits and mass adoption happening this year or next year. But a pump can be initiated by a lot of things. Whales can start a run that'll cause a large fomo. That usually is the reason for massive sudden pumps.

From what I understand, the only catalyst is .. year 2020? That could make sense only because of the halving, but I tend to believe there are multiple factors needed for a "pump like crazy" and simply "year 2020" is not a valid factor.
So the halving could be one factor. We may need some more to cause the FOMO, else it'll be "just" normal growth, if any.
True, but time is also necessary for the bull market to build up for several reasons, many of those that are still in the market and believe in cryptocurrencies have invested already everything they could in the market so it is impossible for us to invest even more money, and at the same time new investors are not getting in the market because they lost their money when the bubble disappeared or they are afraid the crash is not over and we need stability and time to get their trust back.

Bull run may trigger once there is a strong sentiment of people and a lot of investors would join in on the market. Though big investors can flip everything in the market so easily if they have to.

There is more to price movements than public sentiments and opinions. There are lots of factors that affect demand (price at which investors are willing to buy) and supply (price at which people are willing to sell)
Hype could be triggered by many factors.

The main reason bitcoin may pump like crazy is the positive news and public sentiment is so strong to get pump being a decentralised network no one can control when the people sentiment is strong it keeps pumping
But before it happens we know that the market was link in price manipulation. You may be right with what you have said but some of these people sentimental were going to lose and some may have to win.

So as for me, I'm not waiting for any Bakkt, ETF, Government regulations, Institutional Investors, Venture Capitalists, etc....I'm just waiting for 2019 to pass by and we'll see.

this is what people will do, the price has always increased when there is good news and after the price has started to fall from $ 20,000 to the current price, people have suffered many losses and stopped believing in good news. This market was driven by good and bad news

but pump is very bad for BTC, sudden skyrocket and sudden dip - looses public trust.

I agree

but there are many evidence to believe that it will recover in the future

every day i just hear bad news, I think we'll be in the $3000 to $4000 for a long time
Yes that's the hard reality, the price of bitcoin will stay within $3000 - $4000 for a much longer time period. If it's to cross $4000, during the past price rise this could have happened. The recovery of bitcoin is promised, but the same doesn't have any time frame. Only possibility is to hold with patience. The rest will happen on its own, better not to depend on cryptocurrencies for living during these days.

I think will pump but not now and we will need to wait a longer, longer time in my opinion. We will see a pump but only after 2-3 months, or possible a bit more, until then fill your bags and invest only money that afford to lose.

With bitcoin as well the well backed altcoins pump and dump were quite a common thing. To be successful through the pumps and dumps one need to have good knowledge in trading and funds to spare on the same. Apart from this we cannot expect the market to be on the pumping side forever, it varies. Good is to have patience and benefit at the right moment holding.

1. the demand from the people will go crazy, all we need is just a single pump or simple one.

2. merchants will go on it and everything will be fine.

3. government will have no choice but to take the offer from it.

Great points and of course governments will have to accept bitcoin in the future if the majority of businesses and entrepreneurs starts to use bitcoin as a means of payments and there are more than enough evidence to believe that Bitcoin market is recovering but it will take more time than we expect to come to a certain level because the drop was much higher than any other time but there are many evidence to believe that it will recover in the future so any investor today can certainly invest with confidence to make remarkable profits
Yes, the government have no choice cause they have to accept bitcoin but we must ignore the fact that the government sees bitcoin as total liberation from their abuse of power and their past failure which why most of the stingy government and the senior bankers hate bitcoin. Lets just hope that the ETF got approve because it will woo the merchants and the demand from people will go crazy as Santopogi said.

There is no reason found yet in 2019 for the price to go crazy but we may see in the future of this year or not but all we have to do is just wait and hoping it to happen.
We will find the reason once the price will go crazy again, like it will again go to the moon.
Even in the past, there's really no specific reason, everything was just a mere speculation from the start supported with a hype and people get FOMO.
We might see that again as this market never change its trend, expect for the price to be hard to move upward now.
I am not aure about ETF approval and it won't much encourage the prices in long run so just looking for organic growth.
ETF approval will eventually affect the price, if that is not a big thing my friend, people won't be talking about it.

More bitcoin aspirants are just waiting for this big news, after the approval many more investors will be joining maybe another sets of whales that can compete with those who's previously inside the market, though we cant tell what would be the actual outcome but many people are eyeing for this
and hoping that it will bring huge growth for crypto industry.

I am not so sure about the like crazy part. I mean bitcoin doesn't have a reason to go up like crazy, it can definitely go up and my prediction is that we will close this year somewhere between 5-6 thousand dollars maybe even slightly more but that is about the extend of it, unless some crazy amount of new money gets into crypto there will not be a big increase.

The ETF deals and SEC deals makes sure that bitcoin is something people bet on and not actually buy, people will be able to buy "bitcoin will go up" or "bitcoin will go down" bets and wager on them officially thanks to the ETF without actually buying bitcoin itself which means even less money in bitcoin than before with all those people leaving bitcoin itself and going to the ETF route instead.

Its funny how everyone dreded 6k and were unhappy with 6k price and etc. Now 6k seems like a nice dream...

yep, i remember saying something about that several months back---how bulls should be happy with sideways at $6k considering the alternative. a brutal multi-year bear market was always a good possibility after the exponential gains of 2017.

the $6k zone will probably be a hard ceiling due to all the bagholders from those levels. it might be like the $300 zone in 2015. we formed two major tops there (march and july 2015) before the market finally confirmed a bullish reversal.

I don't really expect that this year's bitcoin will pump sharply and accelerate to high prices, because doing so will take a long time, maybe in 2020 it can happen.
You have to consider the other factor that could cause the sudden pump of prices, 2020 is just one of it. We will just take the time to wait for the more clearer information about of this latest news e.g. bakkt, etf, security issues, hacking, etc.

There is much hype and expectations on the bull run this year but no one knows what will happen in upcoming days, as far as I concern is the BTC is dumping again after pump and other Alts follow the same is the most horrible thing. Let's wait and watch the future of crypto trading.
Last year was like a crazy speculative war that they go crazy for an extending bearish trend while the market keeps on dropping from time to time. And that created a FOMO and FUD at the same time to most of the traders.

I'm not really expecting that a bull will commence for this year. We may see more squeeze and dips but by 2020, I'm putting a bigger hope that it will be the year that bitcoin will increase like crazy.

You mean last year, right? The sentiment has taken a massive dip the moment we tanked from $6000 to where we are right now.

I guess that there is still some air left that needs to get out, but it seems to me that altcoins are faring pretty well where they stand right now. It's purely the Bitcoin market that's getting beaten up, while altcoins do seem to hold stronger each time Bitcoin takes a dump. With that I mean that it's no longer Bitcoin down 5% altcoins down 10-15%, but more Bitcoin down 5% altcoins down 5-7%, while altcoins still do pump much harder on the way up.

Positive aspect however is that USDT has printed over 150 million tokens in the last weeks, and the other stablecoins have printed more tokens as well, which means that there is more money in the market now.

maybe even the price can continue to decline in the next few days.

The price did not decline, the price went stable for a while and probably will be like this until February starts, hopefully the price does not dump when February commences, not sure and don't want to assume if there will be a crazy pump or just simply a price pump when the month of Feb starts, don't want to expect too much.
There is no assurance yet for the price to have promising increase this coming February. Let's all think about it at calm emotions, and don't be so excited because frustrations cannot help us decide the right way of handling stress. If we observe a good pumps it can be a good signs but not to the point that we will catch it up and grab quickly.

I really agree with you and we should expect another round of pumping market maybe towards the end of second quarter of this year. If bitcoin can really go through the current mess there is no way it is not going to skyrocket. And that also means now should be the right time for us to invest in other to take advantage of future pricing.

This dump is depressing, nothing to look forward to. Adoption is not increasing, this crypto revolution we were waiting, well we have to wait forward as its not coming in.

Wont be ETF or institutions, its just down to 1000s to the before halving price.

Surely everyone hopes that it will not happen this month or this year, maybe there will be a surprise in the middle of the month, even though there is a lot of speculation that there will be an increase in Bitcoin prices and issue issues that there will be crazy pumps, at least we are not too confused the news, but I focused on how we can look for bitcoin before the crazy pump happened this year, if we have got enough supplies when the crazy pump comes we can enjoy the results we get from our efforts ...

Hopefully this year would be a gteat year for bitcoin. All users are waiting for that to happen.

I think many people are hoping that they will see bull run this year, just like we saw bull run in 2017. I think this is too much expectation from bitcoin as this year the price will more probably move sideways and by the end of this year we may see slight more increase in bitcoin volume and price.
If bitcoin prices moves slowly up, it will be good for bitcoin adoption.

Why the price going up and down like we are unexpected it may change to the next way of transaction people will withdraw are investing lot more more than before that's why the value will going up and down like this and it may disturb lots of holding investors investment also.

Bitcoin has kind of already been "pumped like crazy". It's had it's hype days, and I'm unsure we'll ever see the level of hype that we've seen in the last year w/ the explosion to $20,000>

I see Bitcoin going down a bit, and then having some more hype w/ the potential of it to increase.

This is bitcoin by the way it works, it doesn't know that bitcoin will pump, every time it can change. At the moment bitcoin is declining and tomorrow will rise, this instability makes people sometimes have to get big risks that must be faced or surrender, there is hope with ETFs if it is approved, but will it affect the price of bitcoin?

I think it will difficult to happen especially when more bad news happen on cryptocurrency, not just in bitcoin.
More people do not believe it anymore

So what should we do ?
For who keep believing , please just hold and re-tell again the power of cryptocurrency that help people especially for global transaction !

1. the demand from the people will go crazy, all we need is just a single pump or simple one.

2. merchants will go on it and everything will be fine.

3. government will have no choice but to take the offer from it.

In fact, this process has been going on for years and situations like the annual bear market are still coming back.

I think that a regular pump would result only in an even greater drop in prices than it happen in November. In my opinion, we should pray for a calm and stable price increase.

the more people give up on bitcoin and become hopeless about it, the higher the chance of the rise is going to be. it is not because of some magical elf behind the curtain but it is because the dumping pressure and manipulation is there only because these people are selling with each manipulation and when they give up and go away, the whales can no longer make profit since there is nobody left to milk Cheesy so the rise starts soon after.

Unfortunately, I agree with many things you mentioned. I'm only not sure where you see that press or analysts try to attempt to promote the arrival of the bull run, because I do not see it so much. However, I think that it is true that real, large investors will not return to the crypto market in a few months, maybe even until the end of 2019 and because of that we also dont see bull run soon.

I think he is right that there will be a very interesting move for the price of Bitcoin in the coming months in 2019, whether in the middle of the month or the following month I can only see their chart there, so let's just wait for how Bitcoin will show its rise in 2019.

I doubt a ETF will be a big effect on bitcoin's price, maybe a small bump but nothing more than that.
In my opinion it will probably bring bad press if ETF gets accepted for bitcoin, it also means more regulation for bitcoin in general.
Like what yesyes18 said, the only reason Bitcoin can pump in the market now is the same thing as before, people speculating on the price and then it skyrockets 10 folds.

It's not like more people believed in bitcoin that's why the price spiked up, if it did it wouldn't have drop 88% or something near there.
It was just people opening their eyes to the money filled lambos they were going to get when they say the price of bitcoin increase 1000x.

Etf can contribute to btc price and according ot my understanding it can help with the adoption rate and Bitcoin will definitely pump but we should not expect a high price increase soon because it will take more time than we expect to come to a certain level because the drop was much higher than any other time but there are many evidence to believe that it will recover in the future so any investor today can certainly invest with confidence to make remarkable profits in the future but patience is significant because that is the main thing many doesn't have these days

all these "Bakkt, ETF,..." are only background noise when bitcoin's future growth is concerned. some of them are not even contributing to anything specially adoption. for example i seriously doubt that ETF is going to do much about bitcoin adoption in real world. it will only introduce an "option" for "certain" people to enter trading bitcoin without actually trading bitcoin!!!

with that said, the effects of them should always be secondary. meaning price can rise with or without them then if they exist as a positive thing we can see a bigger rise.

I do not believe this will happen because currently, the number of investors is decreasing because the market is getting worse. And legal-related events are making every investor anxious to invest in Bitcoin, so it's difficult for this to do.

I totally agree with you. The market condition is totally unexpected, even people are stopped thinking a good next month! Where last year people kept saying next month will be better, within these months bull run will happen and these things continued till the end of December. But at this moment, everyone lost their hope about a good market, because no one knows what is going to happen! So, Bitcoin pump like crazy is now a daydream.

I agree that if bitcoin starts to grow it will be a sharp increase. Within a month we will be able to see a price of 25, 000 dollars. This will be done so that many investors start buying biktoin at a high price

Of course if bitcoin starts to increase its value we would see a sharp increase and thee are many evidence to believe that but still the price seems struggling little due to slow rate of adoption and low demanding rate  which are also increasing day by day so when bitcoin starts to pump in prices it will happen in a higher rate but I hope many will remain in the market until then to gain profits because some are uncertain about btc and leaving the market

Bitcoin will definitely pump because of lot of reasons and one main reason is the highly increasing bitcoin into businesses adoption rate which is remarkable when comparing with its first few years because during that time it was used only as an investing asset but now many businesses beginning to connect bitcoin with there core transactions so staying in the market with patience is the best thing to do because profitability is certain in the future

The next block reward halvening is in mid 2020 so we should naturally see the price go up as we enter 2020 due the knowledge of a lower supply once the halvening happens.

Everyone is really waiting for that next activity. But it's what more than a year from now and there's a lot of factors that might start a recovery. But the last halving though took as months to see the price going upward, so don't expect something big to happen right after the halving.

2019 will probably be quite crap for the price, sideways & a slow grind upwards.

I'm also speculating that the might see a long and boring year in 2019. Sideways pattern will be the norm and I'm sure that investors and speculators will continue to short Bitcoin more.

To the OP, are you saying that you're going out of the market this 2019?

pumped up? why do you mention that bitcoin will be pumped like crazy? while at this time the price is actually decreasing.
maybe even the price can continue to decline in the next few days.
Totally right but what I mean is that, if Bitcoin sustains for sometime more and doesn't die it'll be pumped up. Fact is that there are many people who wished crypto died and so they're eagerly waiting for that to happen. And all I'm saying is that if we successfully endure this turbulence for say another year, it's really gonna be a great rally for all of us.

you are wrong about almost everything you said here staring with your title.
Lol... Smiley okay.

bitcoin is not some pump and dump scheme that can be "pumped". you are confusing it with some shitcoin in the altcoin market. and if you think bitcoin is a pump and dump then you are contradicting yourself because a pump and dump scheme can not pump forever, you eventually reach a state when you can no longer pump it any higher and it enters downward spiral and dies. as it is the obvious case with hundreds of altcoins every year.
Yeah I know Bitcoin isn't a pump and dump scheme but it is experiencing so (but in form of bubbles) where it eventually rises.

you have been asleep because 2017 rise was mainly because of the explosive adoption that occurred in that year not just because people were waiting for the drop to end!
Thank you. You just said what I meant in my statement (explosive adoption). And I believe it's gonna happen again and that'll lead to my title: pump like crazy. I say so because in my perspective, adoption begins with trust and that's what I'm talking about. People will trust like never befire.

What do you mean by BTC pumping water? Now some of the BTC I have in my hands has been sold, leaving only a small part of it on the ZB Exchange. A little worried about the price.
Lol....don't worry you'll understand this statement better when another round of FOMO begins.
