This is not a new variety of their missile. They are just repeating the missile launches using the already known missiles. Japan did the right thing by practicing restraint. Kim Jong Un don't care about his own people. Shinzō Abe can't afford that luxury.
You're right. Kim is an attention seeker and is consistently provoking the us and other countries with missile tests though they know for a fact they won't survive an hour if the us and it's allies decide to bite. Any country who'd play kim's is risking to start a nuclear war and i think the other leaders know it.
I wouldn't put the blame solely on North Korea. The role being played by the United States is not a positive one. The Americans are also harming the peace and stability of the region by conducting military exercises so close to the Korean border.
