Unlile gold where you have to go through paperworks which is why it is volatile.
No regulations in some parts of the world.
Because of that we cannot trace which are buying and selling.
Also, because of the amount of exchanges now, a day wont be enough to see track everything. Some are being sold to the black market and then surfacing to an exchange which is in high numbers.

That is why. Try comparing it with Tether and you will know all about it.

They are volatile because they are highly speculative.

Additionally, the lack of regulations allow big players (such as miners and exchanges, which hold a lot of btc) to manipulate the market freely without any legal consequences, doing things that are illegal, such as insider trading.

It is also important to note that many cryptocurrencies have a very low marketcap ,so a few millions of dollars can pump the price like 20-100% , maybe even more depending on the situation.
