OP didn't you think it was strange that a legitimate ICO would want a 3 month old account to do an ANN thread?
Yes, I regret it now.

If any staff reads this:

Please take my thread out of the trashcan and put it in the archive! I need it for archival purposes only!

It seems as though mods put my thread in the trashcan without sending me a warning PM.

Background story:
I was tasked by by an ICO to post their announcement thread but they refused to pay me afterwards. I put a scam tag on their thread and it seems that mods of the forum silently removed the entire thread (with responses and everything)...

My thoughts:
I think that this level of intervention from mods is unacceptable. The ICO now decided to go with another manager but the old thread should remain for archival purposes.

At least put my thread in the archive so it's accessible by others instead of silently deleting. Are mods trying to take this scammy ICO's side?

MODS! Please re-instate my thread:

There must be something wrong in your ANN thread. I have seen a lot of translated ANN thread and most of them is only translated by the topic starter and then they left it and sometimes they response to people answer. More to that, it is home for every spammer and the topic starter never moderate their own ANN thread so you have your answer, it must be one of that, so mod do their job good.
I agree to what your point is, if your thread violated a rule then the moderator will of course do their job and delete your thread without a warning. As in my situation my post is deleted and i received email that my post is deleted due to out of topic. Out of topic, violated some rules might be the reason and it might be another reason that the moderator only knows. All i can say is you ask the moderator why your post is deleted without a warning. One more thing is, your post may contain some inappropriate words that violate some rules of bitcointalk forum, your post may have the same content to another post or in short is copying content from someone else's post is not valid in bitcointalk forum that may have been the reason also your post may be in wrong section.

Most of the time Mods deleted ANN Threads because they used bounty participants to post to paid or bump their threads. And because of that Mod will never warned you to delete your ANN thread.

The common problem is that he is working with a scam. Even if he PM our MODs, he will still be ignored. Its better to move on and research the ICO that he's posting because he's own reputation will be at stake if your promoting it(Just like what happen to atriz). If the OP only want's hes payment, the hell they care.

To OP, better report again these ICO to our MODs to put it again in the trash.

I felt bad for aTriz for having negative trusts because of his actions.

I think, if the MODS where about to find out that he's been working with a SCAM ICO then he should already be out on this forum. But for the reason that they've just been deleting his posts , I think they're not seeing this as you do. Maybe it's just about the said ANN thread, for just having it edited to procure some members for their ICO.

People with paid signatures post here accusing me of a bad quality thread, likely not even reading the body of the OP.

Let me spell out the events that went down clearly so it's easier to understand:

  • ICO rep contacts me and we get an arrangement that I post their thread in exchange of payment.
  • I design and copywrite for their thread.
  • I post the thread.
  • I am later informed that the team of the ICO is fake people.
  • I am not paid in time and the ICO's team won't respond my messages.
  • I put my accusation on the thread.
  • Mods delete the entire thread of mine.
  • The ICO's team posts a new thread with my evidence of being scammed now being hidden due to mods having deleted my thread.
...
As for your problem, it would be great if you could send a PM into the  MOD/s that has been moderating the section that you have created a post on. And if this still didn't work then how about penetrating the said ICO to their limits so that they wouldn't ignore you. Don't just make a copyright of their thread. Make your own style on how you will introduce this fake people to the community so that no one will ever be a victim again of that ICO.

I suppose that MODS are currently active in cleaning this FORUM, and as I think of it, MODS aren't just in names or something, they have been authorized to criticize one's post or idea if its helpful and informative for the sake of this forum. I also think that unnecessary actions by the MODS aren't possible here, they wouldn't spend their time trolling around here and manipulate the threads as they like. They actually have their own reason why'd they delete your post or put it into trashcan.

For so long, Rules are rules, they can never be violated, and if someone still sees something fishy out there they would just click on to the "Report To The Moderator" button and wait for them to criticize it.

MODS doesnt have enough time to make a flashback review on things as they are considered now as a soldier who keeps on watching over these forum all over again, so it's better if you could just make it simpler as you talk. And if you're the only one whose accusing the said ICO then I guess you're in BIG TROUBLE here, the MODS will definitely won't be able to believe you even if you have your evidences.

I think maybe never question the moderator, If it gets closed then there must be a valid reason. The moderators only close threads that aren't conforming to the forum rules and expectations (unless there's power abuse, but I've never heard about power abuse on the forums). If you would like to know why a thread had been deleted, then you'd have to ask the specific moderator, however, you don't really know who that is - which is another possible reason why not to mention it, as it could start a negative relationship between the original poster and the specific moderator (if the original poster is too immature to handle the forum rules).

I don't think moderators close these sorts of threads unless they have reference to the original thread thus counteracting the purpose of deleting it/removing it in the first place.

Note: Maybe Your thread had reference to a thread that was deleted/closed, therefore it's only sparking and negating the effects of that action, and therefore should be closed.

Let me clarify something. First of all, Moderators will not delete any thread or even posts without any good reason to trash it. Maybe you delivered your report of this "scam ICO" badly, because the only reason I can see for them to delete such a thread is maybe because your thread is a spam. Although it is a report of a scam ICO which is somehow important, a spam is always be a spam and should be deleted without any hesitation. The first reason why Merit was introduced, it is to eliminate spams.

About the notification, you will only be notified if the moderator sends you a notification about your deleted thread (I guess). Because sometimes, some of my deleted posts notified me via message, it looks like this

"A reply of yours, quoted below, was deleted by the starter of a self-moderated topic. There are no rules of self-moderation, so this deletion cannot be appealed. Do not continue posting in this topic if the topic-starter has requested that you leave.

You can create a new topic if you are unsatisfied with this one. If the topic-starter is scamming, post about it in Scam Accusations. "

No need to complain about deleted stuffs, it has a valid reason for sure. Do complain when someone deleted your post that has been Merited by over 20 people.

I don't want my "ANN" thread up to promote a project... I want it up because it serves as proof that I was scammed.

I know that if a thread you respond to goes down you don't a notification for the deleted response that wend down with the whole thread.

But this is the first time I see a OP of mine deleted, more so without warning.

Given that this thread was proof of me getting scammed by that ICO I was supposed to receive compensation from I think that mods should at least put it in the archival section of the forum so it's available publicly.

I'm having a similar issue here, likewise my that of my friends, post get deleted without prime-notice or warning, I have been trying to find reasons for their actions. as I understand post get deleted either when you're simply spamming or when your post is off topic. but with the direction in which they are taken now is simply out of it.
my posts get deleted almost everyday!

What do you think this is? The mods are getting fucked with a donkey dick every day dealing with all the shitposts/garbage/nonsense megathreads.. do you think they have time to PM each thread starter asking fricking permission? They are not doing it to bully you, they just believe that the thread has little to add to the community - good on them, I hope they delete this thread as well.

There must be a good reason for the Mod to remove the thread. May be your topic do not relates to the crypto space or may be you have violated rules.

Really not sure. What I always do is I go to draft page ( https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=drafts ) and recover my contents if it needs to. Recover the contents, put them in a google doc then you can share the link here if you want to.

Update on what went down in chronological order:

  • ICO rep contacts me and we get an arrangement that I post their thread in exchange of payment.
  • I design and copywrite for their thread.
  • I post the thread.
  • I am later informed that the team of the ICO is fake people.
  • I am not paid in time and the ICO's team won't respond my messages.
  • I put my accusation on the thread.
  • Mods delete the entire thread of mine.
  • The ICO's team posts a new thread with my evidence of being scammed now being hidden due to mods having deleted my thread.
I hope putting events in chronological order in one place will genuinely help others understand the situation better. I am simply asking those with power to put my thread in the archive so it is publicly viewable again. For archival purposes.
