What made you pick a particular coin to invest in? Is it one factor or a formula of several?

I bought Bitcoin and Ethereum because they were the most popular. Now I want to invest in one or two others. My first thought was to pick ones that are dedicated to a sector like KodakCoin targeting photographers.

Ed
For me when I was investing the decision was not very hard to make since everyone was already investing in bitcoin so all I had to do was look up the best cryptocurrencies and then bitcoin was it, researched into it, decided that it would be a great coin to take a risk with which I did and I did not end up regretting that risk.

In any case, before you choose and decide on the coin, you need to thoroughly study it. Or rather the project, which will be a specific meaning and benefit. Personally, I am guided by such methods and feel quite normal. But also to choose coins for investment is just a small victory. The big one is its further growth. And this sometimes takes time, a very long time. So that you have all ahead!

When I decided to invest in a penny, I relied on my knowledge and experience to study pennies and study the market. I like the solid foundation, modern technology. Besides, new potential projects are also my choice.

At the time, I looked through a lot of different opinions and recommendations on investing. At the time my portfolio consisted of LTC,TRX,ETH, DOGE, BCH, NEM and some others. I took altcoins, so they had to acquire the greatest income for a long time. As a result, when the market began to fall, I was very upset and sold all the coins. If I had held until now, I would have been even more at a loss. I'm disappointed in the investment, and you decide what to do.

I am not really buying Bitcoin because I want to invest and earn but I am utilizing it and using it on payments whenever I travel and buy things on the internet when it is available to purchase via BTC. I only invest in new promising projects and until now it is the way how I earn decent profits. BTC and ETH are somehow known worldwide that is why this two is the only coins I used purchasing services.

There are factors that I consider when buying an altcoin. It must have a low cap, many followers in different social media sites, very promising road map and white paper and it should be listed in the top 50 altcoins in coinmarketcap

I choose the simple one for example, I take a look in the project, I read the whitepaper, and then I visit coinmarketcap to get more info, and then if the price is down, I will choose the coin to buy and hold it for a while. and if I can see the coin could increase higher for a long term, then I will keep it in my wallet or private wallet and I don't want to sell unless the coin gets increase so high but I will sell only to get my money back and keep safe the rest of the coin for a long term.

i don't think i pick my coins because of popularity there are many factors of which you should pick a coin to invest and hold it for the long term vision of it
first thing you have look for in a project is the developers and the roadmap once you know that the developers are active and dedicated for the success of their project  you just buy this coin and hold untill they delver their end of the bargain and sure you will be a winner there really undervalued crypto currency with the potential to challenge ethereum and bitcoin but their publicity  is still low and by time they will a great success

I didn't decide on Oyster Pearl PRL token until I got it from signature bounty campaign and it's remarkable that it made me a millionaire in just a couple of months.
That's why it made me decide to dump all my Altcoins and buy more PRL because I know it will gonna blow after few months from now and even after a year.

I think you need to take a few different coins. It is best to perform young coin, which a few months and more to collect information, for example about 30 semifinishing and to choose the top 10. Large coin lot x will not give, most likely.
Basic criteria:
- capitalization
- dynamics of prices
- technical specifications of the coins

First thing is it must be have a good team and high future plans. You should look also if it has a strong community and look the graph if it is coinsistent , i saw consistent graph of crypto like ark, rise, lisk, and stellar. Look also at the market cap you could choose lower cap because its more cheap and hold it for long term. I bought some electroneum this 2018 i saw a great potential from it ,its the first crypto that you can mine on your phone it can help for mass adoption, and that thing you should find a crypto that you can find mass addoption.

You can check coins/alts below a dollar with an existing project, not those given through airdrops. Usually, coins/alts with projects accumulate value through time. The only thing is we need to be patient by holding them for certain period. But most of the time, this strategy works giving investors huge profit.

Bitcoin and ethereum, yes they are on the top and you made a good choices of coin investment but it doesn't matter. What matters is how much can you pull out of it at the end of the time? Because you can also lose most of your investment with it. If your a smart person well, you know what you are doing then.

Kodakcoin held their ICO and it came from the company itself so there's a strong support for that coin but I don't coin ICO's. I'll buy it when it's listed on different exchanges already. Before when I started to buy some bitcoin, it's the most popular coin and even until now and besides it has the biggest market cap. And the same with ETH, it has the 2nd biggest market cap. I'm not only deciding because of their market cap but also with the tech behind it and the community that supports it.
I can't get into coins with weird names like Kodakcoin and other names like it because they aren't that catchy.
I support a coin only if the problems are very small and could be let go.
You think that kodak coin is weird? Do you know a company that has a name of "Kodak" specialized in photography? Not all names are catchy and there are good names when you read it for the first time but their road map and other plans are crap. Vice versa with weird names, there are some of them that has legit company and plans and there are some that are totally worthless. What problem do you mean? Every coin will be showing it's true content and intent when they are already in their mid run.

Since i start in trading i choose coin based on their project, i should read first their white paper before buying their coins, nowadays there are many shit coins which will exist but not increasing its value because they have a project which cant contribute for the crypto world that is why there are no advertisement for their project and only risk taker will buy that coin.
be careful on choosing coins to invest, there is no problem to be meticulous because it is for the sake of our investment.

Before I choose cryptocurrency, I'll tell people about it and know more about it to get a better sense of the risks involved. Each project has its own potential and different values. Some coins are good for many when they appear. Others, on the other hand, need us to judge.

I divide cryptocurrency in two type. functional coin and transactional coin. Usually I choose transactions coin which has huge liquidity and choose functional coin which give me a lot of profit in passive income. Now I interested iwht XCPO because I observed this coin for long time and this coin has great potential to be top cryptocurrency.

The transparency of the community of the project: the team, developer, and investors, aside from that is knowing the purpose of the token/coin,what is the use or does the project has a product that guarantees the investors.
So I could say that popularity is not a good basis for the choosing the ico.

I spent the last 3 years losely observing blockchain tech, and got casually
Involved with swarm city (arcade city at the time) social media groups and
Got to see firsthand how some of these businesses are trying to get started.
‘Street level’ style interaction with people through the internet is needless to
Say difficult to accomplish, since it requires affecting others in a very tangible
Way so they can feel your products’ value to them and how it’s not just words
On a page on the internet.

We have to get people to use this tech in their daily
Lives, and use cases and relevancy to popular social trends are usually what I
Think these businesses trip up on. Teams have to talk to each other, people have
To get over their egos etc etc., so customer service says a lot to me about the
Impact a business is trying to make, since anyone can sell something, what most
Business that experience success are doing is selling experiences.

This Tech can be difficult to explain, difficult to integrate with some groups
in this world Due to cultural or social norms, so creating a rewarding experience
is crucial To breaking down barriers and getting people interested in putting
themselves Out there on a new platform.

So when I came across deeponion I decided to read their strategies, their plans,
Their completed projects, their financial structure and hierarchy, and I watched
How they handled different types of customers and how they handled design
And market challenges, and I decided they really nailed what I was looking for
In a potential coin to invest in long term. I also decided to use them for their
Theme(anonymity) given my interests in everyday privacy.

I am not into formulas and stuffs and I am not that much of an organized person but my reasons are simple, I' invest to particular coin that has a good market trend and value and hold for it until I can sell it for profit. Most of my coins and holdings do not target particular investors like eth and bitcoin since I am not that deep into cryptocurrency trading and maybe I haven't encountered any unique coin yet for my profession or interest.

Common reason is due to dumps plus the individual potential of the coin, if for example ethereum dumps back to 500 usd price point that is a must buy definitely because ethereum will surely comeback no matter what just like bitcoin which has been faced so many correction throughout its existence.

What everyone decides when investing in cryptos is its potential, since almost everyone psychologically wants to invest in the long run, so they will analyze the crypto project, which will be 10 to The next 20 years this project has potential or not. Will it make a revolution in the monetary industry? So it is not difficult to understand if everyone is almost investing in Bitcoin and Ethereum.

The most popular coin isn't always the best coin to invest in. I try to invest in something with a purpose (whitepaper road map) that I can buy cheap and get a bigger gain. a great example in my opinion is ADA. I believe this coin has a big future that will get me 5,000 times its current price per coin within 5 years.

Yes, you have good decisions to invest in ICO with new technologies combined with traditional services. Kodak made a coup with its platform for photographers on blockchain. Its tradional shares shooted up over 50%. To find those ICO projects will convert investments into longterm profits.

I think it's different for every coin. For example, got into IoT Chain (ITC) because they cover security of IoT. As an IoT fan, security is the biggest con to the tech. Since they solve that problem and have really big backings from big companies, I'm all in. Very underrated coin atm. https://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/iot-chain/

You can decide base on their future plan in the coin like if they still promote it so the price of that can be really high i think also if you don't have knowledge in the coin you need to trust someone here in forum where you going to invest try xrp and xrb this two coins are good and it also similar to btc and eth in development, better to do is to see it by yourself so monitor every coins here.

If i have enough money as you, I will do the same. I'll invest on the best , the most stable and popular. But then I don't have that much to invest on those, so I'd rather invest in some 'not so' popular yet has potential someday.

When I bought my first coin I knew only Bitcoin. I didn't know anything about forks, or altcoins.
After a lot of reading in this particular forum, I've learned about Ethereum and the ability to program smart contracts.
Coins like this one or others with smart contract abilities as NEO will definitely thrive in the future.
ICOs are great too, some of them have very good projects. If you are a holder chose quality ones.
Day trading is much more difficult.

There are several factors need to be undertaken while deciding which coin is best for you.
1.First choose based on you investment amount for example $100 investment on bitcoin won't give any big profits normally so you have to choose a low priced coin which may explode in the future.
2.Based on the coin market cap value ranks, you can pick coins from top ranked on coinmarket cap but most of the coins will give good profits while your investment is in longer term.
3.You can purchase the trending coin at the moment which can give you profits for short term but you need to watch carefully the price always sometimes the price will crash in no time.

I usually pick those coins that are well established within the crypto community, but also have potential to grown in the long-term, obviously, according to my research, like LTC, ETH, XMR.

I don't buy the "hype", we all know nowadays there's a coin that gets the "pick of the month/week" and people start using the same cryptocurrency trope, for example, "partnership with X company coming soon" or "great tech, small market cap, etc, etc", I'd rather do a proper research for a few days before going in blind and fall for the hype. Those coins are good for the short-term profits, but other than that, they usually end up being nothing more than pump and dump schemes.

if I choose a coin based on observation for a few days, usually if I want to choose a coin, I monitor how the graph of the coin, a few days if the feeling satisfied and match with my monitoring, then I will buy the coin, that's how treding i'm

That's true. It's not all popularity. I think many people are getting the wrong idea that because one coin is being endorsed by many users that it is fool-proof successful. There are so many indicators and guides to tell you what you should invest in and what you should stay away from. Also, the kind of investment, whether in trading coins or purchase-and-hold tactic, whether long term or short term would dictate what kind of coins you should better look out for. Another consideration is the capital you can shed off, if you have a big capital, then you can invest in those high-valued coins, while if you only have a little, then go for those sleeper coins that cost little but has big potential.

Another factor to be considered is the roadmap. The question I ask myself most times, whenever I want to invest in a coin is if the developers are following the roadmap.

There are different factors that I'm looking on a coin before I invest on it. First is the market supply. If they have fewer supply, there is a tendency for a higher profit. Next is the developer, they should be trustworthy, reliable and dedicated to the project. Another thing is their road map. Does the project's projection is achievable or near reality? Lastly, the whitepaper. Everything about the project is written there.

I always go for a solid foundation, like good features and good devs. Preferably with a fair coin distribution.

You are right. The success of a coin most times depend on the developers.
Also, for community coins, the  community can also help in the success of a coin.

I like the privacy coin market, but the factor that makes my choice very easy is the involvement of the community to further the project together. The project is DeepOnion, what the dev and mods have done the past 6 months are amazing.

You have to love it, Just HODL it has great potential

This is the hardest thing to do, choosing the right coin to invest with. Before you come up to a decision you must done several studies technically and fundamentally for you not to loose money. Well in cryptoworld we can easily notice whic one is good or which one is just a waste of time. I choose coins based on the result of my study, I don’t just depend on any news about it, always equip your mind with the right information.

Bitcoin ofcourse is the less volatile coin of the two you invested in. Ethereum is the 2nd best coin according to market cap.
I personally invested in Ripple about a year ago when it was around 0.20$ and i sold some of it at 3.10$. I believe it was the best investment i made so far, it takes some faith that you will do well, and in most cases some luck too.

When I make a decision whether invest in a coin or not I look at it's market capitalization, growth rate, stability and it's specifications like fees, speed and supports of different tools and technologies. If to sum up all there factors, Ethereum seems to me the best choice for now. If you don't have enough money for it, Cardano can be a good choice as well.

The popularity of a currency can help in the investment, because we will only surf in the wave of the moment, but reality must be coherent , for example BitConnect and Ripple are famous, but their growths are suspect, but not always the fame of currency is the way to invest, in relation to the photographic sector is interesting, but the energy sector is a promising one.

Perhaps you should check the development of the coin if there are innovations for this will affect the crypto community's interest over such coins. Being widely traded on exchanges is also an important factor to consider knowing that it is showing potential growth.

I think Ethereum is now investing in the future. In particular, you can choose to invest in some substantive and landing applications. These are all future encrypted currencies. Such as KodakCoin can be invested.

Well btc and eth are a givem if you want a sure long term investment. Those two along with the top ten alts are pretty profitable if you're not in a hurry and are willing to hold. For me, just simply running through forums and discussions give me ideas on what coins to look out for. Then of course a little research after that

Thank you! I had lost all hope of a Hero Member of this forum saying that Ethereum can provide a long term investment profit LOL. I agree, those are the "less risky" coins, even though nothing is really stable.

i have been buying bitcoin for a couple of years now because i find it useful and i believe that a "decentralized digital cash" which is the definition of bitcoin is something that i want to be using. whether it is now or it is in the future when it is more adopted.

so far i have not seen the same thing in any of the altcoins and what they offer seems to me more like a short term potential that vanishes as fast. which is why i have been investing in them with this view and only hold them for a very short time during their pumps.
so the way i choose them is by looking for pumps. which is usually looking for a big price rise or some upcoming hype that they team is advertising.

In the beginning I invested blindly into some coins whom I found valuable without any proper knowledge about their future. And, you can call it luck or something else that made me some profits even with those poor quality investments. But, as the time started moving, I started doing my research and invested on some other coins like XVG, TRX, and POE, and some others which I am still holding till this day.

I would recommend you to buy and hold the coins like, XRP, Bitcoin, ETh, and LTC as they could make you profits rather than losses. I have gone through some losses during the process, but then I decided to hold my coins rather than selling them low. If you are sure about a coins and you have done your proper research then you might have some patience to hold your coins in the times when the coin's value goes down.

Bitcoin and Ethereum is the blue chips in cryptocurrencies. If you bought this you choose it correct if your target is long term. If your target is to earn money the right thing to do is but a trustworthy crypts equivalent to penny stocks (penny crypts). Penny crypts yields the highest because of demand and supply is not yet determine.

Not all popular coins are good coins, for example XRP doesnt mean that the coin is in the top it is better, more coins are undervalued in the market with low marketcap, xrp is a centralized shitcoin that doesnt have any use nor product existing,a plane shitcoin, what i am searching in alts are ,product/services or use in real life, the developers are they active ,the investors or partners, whitepaper and roadmap is it clear?distributed supply and technology about it,if thats too good to be true it might be a scam shit project.
