All I know is that I know nothing.
interesting question actually! this is something that i have also wondered about. i even asked them a couple of times but all i got in return was trolling and insults Tongue

so my assumption is that they want the word "bitcoin" in the name to be as visible as possible. when you shorten it to "B" they lose the main purpose they created their altcoin!

Why do they have to take it as an insult?  And specifically Ver himself.  He doesn't have to take it so personally.  It's actually a cool shortened name for the coin.

'Bitcoin Cash' sounds so awkward imho, as the words 'coin' and 'cash' usually refer to the same thing.  It's like saying 'Bitcoin Money', which actually sounds a little better.  Lol.

There's no way around it: Roger Ver is making a fool of himself. The guy needs to take a vacation.... take a few months off from crypto! He's been in the trenches too long. Him, Craig Wright and Jihan Wu all come off as perpetually triggered, come to think of it. Having said that, a lot of the Bitcoin maximalists I see seem really triggered about Bcash too.

I think everybody needs to just chill out. I don't give a shit about names, personally. I guess I feel bad for the noobs getting fleeced buying into the Bcash narrative or sending Bcash to a Segwit address. But really, the noobs will always get fleeced. It's a tradition in crypto.

I'm ok with noobs getting fleeced in the market.  It's like playing poker imo, sometimes you win and sometimes you have your shirt taken off from you.  But what I don't like and highly disagree with is when some known figures in the scene tries to trick or coerce people into thinking that Bcash is Bitcoin.  That's just bordering to fraud.

Probably because they want the world to know it is bitcoin related, or essentially is bitcoin.
Bitcoin is the most known cryptocurrency and the most expensive one relative to marketcap, bcash could be anything really but you would't make bitcoin up out of it.

Anyway here's a video of how Bcash's biggest supporter rage quits the interview.  A must watch!

They want to have Bitcoin-something. More people call that Bitcoin-something, more will associate it with Bitcoin.
Their wet dream is still to become themselves the rulers of the only Bitcoin, no matter that is that. People calling their alt Bcash just ruin that dream and makes them grumpy.
So I think that the ones truly believing that the current Bitcoin is THE Bitcoin should (*) start or continue calling the other coin Bcash just because of this.

(*) Of course, everybody will do as they please, I will never say people what to do. Just I can't find a better wording for that.

Lol.  Then let's make it our sole responsibility to tell people to call it by its shortened and cooler name, BCASH.  I think what their doing is confusing the community, especially people new to Bitcoin, deliberately.

We should not allow it.

Bitcoin Cash and BCash is the same thing! Everyone knows what it means. It's a simple abbreviation, whoever has a problem with this abbreviation, needs to check himself, because there are more pressing things to think about, like will Bitcoin reach $15K by end of year? or what will the outcome of BCash be at the end of year?

I would feel the same way if someone referred to Bitcoin as Bcoin but I wouldn't take it as an insult though. I have seen some people get upset when you refer to it as bcc even though it's still listed as bcc in some exchange.  Smiley

If someone come in tomorrow with a new altcoin called Bcash, people might end up investing in it thinking it's bitcoin cash. that might be the reason.

But the thing is they can call Bitcoin anything they want but it won't change anything.  It will still be Bitcoin.  With Bcash, I think Ver fears that it will be viewed as an altcoin.  He's like, indirectly insisting that Bcash is the real Bitcoin with 'Satoshi's vision'.

And didn't it fork spawning Bitcoin Clashic?

there only 2 types of person that accept BitcoinCash as the real Bitcoin,
