Non-religious people criticize science too. The field of science itself is based on the perpetual criticism and examination of its methodologies. Some times people make bad arguments against some scientific ideas, but that doesn't make all criticisms of science invalid, or anyone who is religious incapable of making a valid critical argument related to science.

Of course not, I am not religious but I respect those who are and use it for the right reasons. But the two have nothing to do with one another.  Science in principle is based upon facts.  Of course some scientific studies and what not are scientific theories that absolutely are and should be debated.

Thats right, the two have nothing (very little) to do with each other. The premise of the thread itself is a non-sequitur, but a common concept that is understandable as it is so popular to shit on faith of any kind now days.

I completely agree. While religion has been used as a tool to control for centuries, it surely isn't always that way. Many provide a solid moral guideline.

I always believed that religion and science should always go together, as two faces of the same coin.
After all, scientists can only discover truth about the miracles of nature created by God.
Religious people should not go to extremes like an amish religious group but welcome modern world and all discoveries from scientists because it is all part of the great God's plan of creation.

Science is based upon FACTS. Religion is based upon BELIEFS. Two completely separate subjects.

OP- God doesn’t pay anyone’s family when the bread winner passes. Life Insurance does though.
It’s hard to tell who’s being serious here though I must say.

Pretty sure the mod of this sub would agree with you though  Tongue

I often wonder why don't the people who say only God can treat diseases and not human beings, why do they take medicines?

Those that say human beings are made to walk on Earth and not fly as God's command, why do they get on airplanes?

Those that say God won't harm them if they believe, why do they buy life insurances?

Those who say Earth is flat yet uses Google maps, GPS and other gadgets?

Don't they feel hypocrisy within themselves ? Tongue no offense !

How about this as an answer to your question.

"Because it feels right."

Actually not joking here. One's internal feeling of right or wrong is very important in guiding action.

It varies. For many people there's no conflict between science and religion (or they don't think about it too much). What I hear most people say something along the line of "if you know so would cause this harm and still do it, then you're putting God to test," etc.

Some actually use "more science" to facilitate their practice. I remember reading about Jehovah's Witnesses using a machine to recycle the blood during surgeries to avoid having to accept transfusions.

God made everything for us to enjoy. That's why we can use any of it.

Cool
Then why don't eat all the fruits even the poisonous ones ?

Poisonous fruits have a purpose for being created.
No one tells you not to consume them, it is up to you if you do it or not. However, there are not created to be consumed by humans.

Personally, I don't know any orthodox that is ashamed to used scientific methods. Maybe your experience with that is limited to some people.

orthodox people are medieval orthodox, the medieval orthodox society is interesting on its own, orthodox movements also adapt and diversify themselves. scientific atheists also change their mind over life on topics like race etc.

Did you enjoy asking your question? If so, the poisonous fruit has fulfilled God's desire of joy for you. If not, it's your own fault for asking it... except if you enjoy things that are not enjoyable.

People who literally believe in the God's books and then criticize every scientific temper, they themselves take the enjoyment of the modern gadgets and technology that science offers.

Those that say human beings are made to walk on Earth and not fly as God's command, and it's a sin to fly, they fly on airplanes.

They also buy life insurances as they feel insecure even when they firmly preach God is there to save them!

"Science found God's hand in another galaxy? Wow! See, even science says there's God." "Science says universe started with big bang and not created by God? Yuck, science is fraud and satan's playground".
