I don't know why we celebrate Christmas if Jesus born on 25th December, not 24th. Maybe because it's day when Advent ends.
Now Christmas become only commercial holiday. We see Christmas ads in early November, we spend lot of money for the gifts and mostly don't feel real spirit of Christmas.

Christmas is celebrated to remember the birth of Jesus Christ, who Christians believe is the Son of God.

Christmas is now celebrated by people around the world, whether they are Christians or not. It's a time when family and friends come together and remember the good things they have. People, and especially children, also like Christmas as it's a time when you give and receive presents!

HAPPY CHRISTMAS IN ADVANCE. Grin

Originally this period of the year is celebration of the winter solstice. It's been going on long before Christian mythology came along and stuck it's unwanted oar in.

Makes me laugh when people talk about a "traditional Christmas". They think traditional means a Christian one, with Jesus, kings and myrrh and all that stuff. It doesn't. That's all the new fangled modern stuff.

It is tradition. The Church originally adapted to a the birth of a pagan god, just to make it easier for the pagans to become Christians and convert to believing ion the real God. Today we follow this tradition, simply because it is a tradition, not because we do or would have done as the early Church. Most people who celebrate for Christian purpose don't even know that Jesus was not born on 12/25.

Jesus Christ! No pun intended. Tongue

Anyway, I think this is because the chistian faith is such an asshole. (Yeah I said it).

The christian faith always tries to steal other's holiday. December 25 was originally another holiday but not christmas day. This is to change whatever that famous holiday is and make it their own. Let's also remember that christianity did the crusades and murdered a lot of muslims just because of, you know, FAITH.

I don't know, to be honest Christmas is not in the bible and there was no verse in the bible saying that Jesus was born on December 25. It is just invented by the pagan during Christ time if I'm not mistaken. I'm a religious person and the one that I am only believing is what the bible says, which is I believe that it is the message from the God who created all of us.

Why we celebrate Christmas ? Jesus didn't even born on 25th December. Why Christians put Christmas on particular date 25th December? Was it is due to Pope Julius who officially declared that the birth of Jesus would be on the 25th December? Why that particular day is so special?
Not all are celebrating christmas and i know that is already a tradition that every christians are celebrating this it just because other says that it'a the day of our Jesus born this day it's very special every 25 of December not celebrating this event but to be our family seeing complete.

It was more of a tradition than a fact, which was past through generations after generations and it was adopted by the catholic church. And it was also the time of the year when the north star is very bright and visible which they said lead the 3 wise men to the birthplace of Jesus Christ.

I had heard that the date for Christmas was picked because it was the date of one of the major pagan holidays. Thus getting people to convert would be easier.

As a non-Christian, Christmas holds no significance for me. I live in a country where less than 4% of the total population is Christian. Yet, I see them exerting a disproportionate influence in politics and society.

Oh "Father Christmas", it will not give you gifts. Grin

You have to ask this question to the fanatic Catholics, just a piece of advice: when you ask that question, take a bodyguard with you or ask the question with a very soft tone of voice.

You must be very calm at this time ( When are you going to ask these questions ), the last time I asked this question to a god server in my country? They ( god server ) became violent

Weird! I have always regarded Russia as a Christian country. It seems to me that you're lying. The diligence with which you defend the position of Russia on this forum gives you.

Perhaps the politicians want to exploit the Christmas idea to boost the economy. Perhaps it's just a way to cherish time with friends and family. It's not all about baby Jesus.

Not all Christians celebrate Christmas on December 25. Orthodox Christians celebrate Christmas on 7 January. This is due to the difference in the Julian and Gregorian calendars.
