Because Bitcoin ETF will increase the demand of Bitcoin and other crypto,  we can see gold that the price increased after SEC approved the ETF.  If SEC approved Bitcoin ETF,  this crypto will become asset class and will be more adoption for it.

I'm no expert but why does everyone make such a big deal about something that many experts have warned would have a negative impact on the price? It's almost like people need the blessing of "big brother" to feel ok about something. This is supposed to be decentralized people, you want regulations then go invest in stocks. Am I outta line here?

Bitcoin might actually start another significant bull run if the SEC approves the Bitcoin ETF’s

I guess some of the bitcoin investors are hoping that the approval of a bitcoin ETF from the USA SEC officials would allow the crypto-currencies trading market to gain more exposure, this action might attracts more investors to invest their fiat money into crypto-currencies and thus increasing the whole crypto-currencies market capitalization by a huge volume.

Of course, many people care about it as the impact will be significant, but not everyone expects bitcoin ETF to be accepted though.

Significant but unlikely to be sustainable. We might see another bubble to form if SEC approves it.

Some say ETF could harm the bitcoin market and others contrarily, but one thing for sure is traditional financial institutions and more investors will acknowledge bitcoin and brings a huge influx of money to the market. Nevertheless, the chances of an ETF proposal get accepted are small due to SEC wants the proposals in some way deterring fraud and manipulation but the vast majority of bitcoin trading occurs outside of the US, which means there is no way to ensure protection against manipulation.

It could really harm the market in long term.  as I have mentioned their might be a sudden influx, tons of money being push into the ecosystem, but I doubt that it going to be a sustained growth. We will give institutional investors or custodians powers that at the end manipulation will be very obvious that might sway away casual investors.

That is because people always want to believe whatever they want to believe.

Yeah, the approval of ETF could bring about some more money into the crypto space and possibly channel the market to the mainstream but the reality here is that it would even subject the market to more speculation because in this case, we already know those who are simply holding most part of it after chasing the weak hands away.

I know a lot of people are clamoring on regulation being something that could bring about some market maturity, but truth be told, as adoption kept increasing, the market has been maturing on its own gradually better than the way it used to.

it won't necessarily bring a huge influx of money. that's the assumption a lot of people make that i'm ambivalent about. giving wall street a new security to play with (in addition to CBOE and CME futures) doesn't guarantee new demand. you can build it, but how do you know they'll come?

i'm not saying it's likely, but we should prepare for the possibility that demand and volume are low if/when an ETF gets launched. if demand is low enough that spot share price is falling below the NAV then arbitrage opportunity will push brokers to redeem shares and dump bitcoin on the spot market.

We can see price of Gold was increase all the times high after this asset approved by SEC to be apart of ETF. And Bitcoin will do the same thing if Bitcoin ETF to be approved.

I doubt it won't even have any effect on bitcoin, we know someone often mimics what has become successful, but doesn't see other factors that cause it. I think this is just a trick and cunning way from their side to manipulate bitcoin. Demand exists because there is money and funds. if bitcoin saca is accepted and it only becomes a temporary hype like the end of last year then it's just a lie

You just asked my question about ETF! I really wonder why people are going for the ETF run? why they want bitcoin is under the regulation. I am very happy that ETF rejected bitcoin and it will reject again on 30th September. People should know bitcoin is a decentralized, anonymous digital currency, it doesn't need any regulations.

I think we don't need debate about Bitcoin ETF. If bitcoin is not approved it's alright we can survive the crypto because it decentralized and if Bitcoin ETF well it's alright too because it will be a big help in crypto so we don't need to debate about that because we continue what we do in crypto.

ETF will make the price of bitcoin to go higher but it also causes the itcoin to be considered as investment thing rather than decentralized curreny so it can destrot the vision of satoshi so I don't support ETF for the bitcoin.

Not really. Only a physical ETF will. ETFs that don't hold bitcoin and only speculate on its price won't affect it. They will work like futures.

a physical ETF doesn't really affect supply and demand of the underlying market. okay---the trust (or whatever is holding the BTC) needs to be funded with BTC, so that does eat up supply initially. but after the ETF is launched, the trust is locked and no real BTC will ever be bought or sold again. it should just follow the spot market.

also, i'm pretty sure the applicants for physically backed ETFs (winklevoss, solidx) have already funded their trusts. so none of the ETF stuff should really affect supply at all.

And what happens when the interest in these ETFs happens to be higher than they initially assumed? For instance they have prepared to back 100 million USD and after first 6 months they get potential investors willing to put in another 50? Wouldn't they increase their position?
Also, there's this psychological barrier that US regulators are against BTC. The SEC approving an ETF would certainly raise confidence worldwide. That's what people are hoping for.

What you are telling is correct that people;s confidence will get more if it got included in ETF but it will also make bitcoin to be traded without physical and which will create more volatile in the market and big players can manipulate its price with futures trading and which is not good in the favor of bitcoin traders.

Can you point me to anything confirming that when it comes to the VanEck ETF?

I have done my best to read through the relevant parts of the proposal but nowhere does it state anything like what you are trying to imply.

reading through the proposal, you're right, there are provisions that allow the trustee to interface with the spot market to create or redeem baskets as needed. there are lots of closed-end ETFs that don't issue new creation units after launch, but i guess that's not the case here.

i do wonder how common new issuance would be post-launch. i suppose if wall street is really waiting for an ETF then it should trigger premiums over NAV that'll justify new issuance. we'll see......

Crypto currencies are in trend now and everybody wish to earn money with their help. That's why all of those experts and their words are so important, people are simply waiting for the most perfect moment to buy crypto, as much cheap as it is possible, and normally they want to know the top price to sell and to get maximum profit.

Just a comparison of what happened with Gold ETF that you could find on internet :

The ETF could bring more "BIG" Institutionnal Players to BTC market that couldn't buy bitcoin without ETF due to regulation and this may bring a new flux of money into cryptomarket.

Bitcoin ETF would mainly increase the adoption of bitcoin, as it would be available as a traded fund and most who are wary of the volatility in the market would be able to invest in something more stable.
But I personally don't see it having much of an impact on bitcoin as a digital currency. And the price

A lot of people keep saying this, but the question you should be asking yourself is how ?
Whether it would make the market more mainstream, we do not even know. Whether, there would be more money in the market ? The market simply has been growing on its own over the years without any regulation.

I know it could usher in some growth but we really need to consider the aspect where bitcoin would not at some point get to be what it was meant to be if all these things start panning out. I may be wrong, but I see us doing better in the long run without any ETF approval.

Why do people want ETFs? Because they want the bear market to end and we know that a catalyst would end it much sooner.
We need to get out the people who only want to make money from bitcoin, they don't even understand how the decentralization can change the future of ours.THis bear market already trashed some investors who just invested to make money only the long term holders still hoping that the bitcoin is capable of providing more in long term.

when an ETF becomes available, the price really increases dramatically, as suddenly that commodity becomes available to a lot more investors and these investors pile on. But, the other side of it, is that there are always these claims that the commodities markets are heavily manipulated and opening up these ETFs only increase the ability of institutional investors to manipulate the prices of commodities

Bitcoin ETF does not adversely affect the price of Bitcoin. It makes many investors feel more secure and want more investment. Because ETFs will always be valued over time and it is suitable for many investors who want to invest safely.

The repeated rejections can be very frustrating. But at the same time, I should say that if an ETF was approved, then we could have gained millions of new users. Perhaps that is the reason why the wall-street was so afraid of the ETF and did all it can to block it.

Most persons within the crypto space are interested in the bitcoin ETF approvals because it is believed to be able to bring a flood of new investors to cryptos and as such better price movement

That's very true. Having ETF approval will encourage a more stable price and establish more trust in crypto ultimately leading to more investors and corporations to consider crypto as payment source.

This is actually the problem of most people where they do forcing to believe that ETF issues do really give big effects or really does matter on what would be the potential movement of the price. For experienced ones they will actually see no value and this cant really dictate on what would be the trend of crypto prices but as we all know that emotion can really be a big factor that can mainly affect crypto market in an instant.

Maybe some people who lose money expect more for ETFs to raise prices again now that have not found a bright spot for a long time, I am also a person who does not support ETF fully because we are still comfortable with this, until now the price increase is quite normal because the ETF is not necessary, it all depends on the public trust in cryptocurrency, don't let others intervene to become centralized.

Simply mostly because people think an approved ETF would be the "catalyst" for bitcoin to break the bear market trend, though even if an ETF may be approved after some time I don't think the effect on the markets will be as significant as people are expecting. Most people in the cryptocurrency space doesn't care about anything but the profit anyway, hence most people don't care if bitcoin gets heavily regulated as long as the price increases.

Its because majority thinks that Bitcoin ETF will really bring the needed money to resurrect the market at its current state. They wanted to see bitcoin hits $20,000, all-time-highs, bullish trend but at the end of the day, the effect should be short live and it can really hurt the market in the long run. Just look at what's happening right now, everyone is waiting for the decision before FOMO'ing. But remember the custodian or institutional investors may have control over the market, and that is not good for all of us. Maybe Bitcoin ETF is inevitable, but I have mix emotions about it and to be honest, I think it will just damage the ecosystem.

I agree with the op more than with this. ETF is bad for ecosystem. Probably not as bad as bitcoin futures that blindly manipulate the price without caring much about the real one. The price could have increases if btc was approved, sure, but it would contribute to the general trend of trading cryptocurrencies instead of using them. People are starting to forget the initial ideas. Fiat has problems, cryptos solve them and give freedom. We should do our best to make sure crypto payments are accepted more and more. The obvious demand should appear and this will stimulate businesses to accept cryptos. As people are more concentrated on trading than on using, we are moving further from the main point.
But ETF could also be a bad thing for hodlers as well, because the price would've got hyped fast and big time by newbies once again, which would inevitable lead to another crash once some big countries start to regulate cryptos and set some limitations or something.

To be honest very few of them really care about the ETF stuff. Some of them are even lazy enough to know about it and this all takes me to one conclusion mostly they just want that thing to be over with so that the current situation of the crypto currency where ups and downs are getting to volatile will be over soon. This is important for them because they just want the crypto to be paying with their investment because of the ETF and SEC stuff, its making the crypto go fluctuate a lot. For me ETF is important because it can really take the bitcoin to next level and thus waiting for it come with at least single approval.

Because ETF are easiet way to invest in any asset. Imagine investing in bitcoin without risk of exchange beeing hack or you beeing hacked. You will be able to buy this ETF from any broker (even not crypto broker) and found will buy and store your btc. It will make lots of investors scared of storing crypto by themselve jump into crypto world. It will also show BTC to new investors. Imagine having in your broker porfolio Oil, gold, silver, s&p500, ETF next to BTC ETF. It will open many dors for BTC.

Investing in bitcoin will be dozen times easier and safer. Thats why everyone is waiting on it.

Yes, that is the actual reason about the crypto currency ETF approval and we should care about it if we want to earn some nice profits out of our hard investment that we made during so many years. Bitcoin is our digital gold and everyone is expecting it to boom like crazy and if thats the case then whats wrong in thinking about the ETF and caring about its approval really. It will surely create a strong backbone to the crypto currency and thus make it look good over the time. We need such updates in between for crypto's long term success and crypto push forward.

I'm no expert but why does everyone make such a big deal about something that many experts have warned would have a negative impact on the price? It's almost like people need the blessing of "big brother" to feel ok about something. This is supposed to be decentralized people, you want regulations then go invest in stocks. Am I outta line here?

Not me, all I care until now is just bitcoin price action. In this situation positive price moving from bitcoin will make life again and others will follow, that's the main rules. About another people who replace their trust into another coin or follow ICO project in big faith and asset is up to them, they have different mindset and strategy. For me ETF is like another coin, follow bitcoin and even have significant price action is only temporary.

Many of those who have recently joined/used Bitcoin are interested in profit rather than decentralization.Perhaps a large part of them do not know decentralization.
ETF mean A lot of investment money means more price rises. So many people care about it.
Also, one of the most important reasons is the absence of good news this year so everyone is trying to get some positive.

No you are spot on, man. I'm totally with you. True believers in bitcoin don't care about ETF. The people who care are speculators, the ones who would like to have another pump to make money of off bitcoin.

BTC ETF is a great investment fund if the SEC accepts execution. ETF is a very good investment fund and it will usually grow every year. It will prevent the manipulation a lot. But the SEC said they would not cooperate because they disagreed with the way the market operates.

Because Bitcoin ETF will make better for Crypto ecosystem, Bitcoin ETF will make more high demand for Bitcoin itself and also others crypto. We can see price of Gold was increase all the times high after this asset approved by SEC to be apart of ETF. And Bitcoin will do the same thing if Bitcoin ETF to be approved.
