mastercard has been lobbied to not work in places like russia (it was big news a couple years ago)
also there is alot of fraud in some third world countries, so mastercard doesnt work in those either.

you will find that non bitcoin services such as paypal, amazon, etc also have the same problem as bitstamp in regards to mastercard acceptance.

its not bitcoin specific. its government regulations and chargeback scamming specific

They re expanding the number of countries quite fast. First it was US, UK and Slovenia. Now Italy and Germany as well. I m sure they ll cover Europe in a couple of weeks and this is quite good since I ve had nothing but great experience with Bitstamp.

maybe there are some restriction due to the fact that many bitcoin card are mastercard and not visa

and also mastercard is not very well pro bitcoin, they mentioned many time their bad sentiment against bitcoin

I just didnt add visa to my statement you have made a good point though

they are treating two different cards under the same country restiction banners

says in their webpage only accepting from certain countries using mastercard

sounds kinda strange why not any user with a Mastercard

Mostly for insurance and also protection against fraud. The risks are different depending on who they are serving. But if ID verification is possible, then it should be okay for most  countries. Pretty much how CEX.IO does it.

Ive only just started thinking about it and im getting the idea its for bitcoin distrobution reasons other than mastercard related reasons,
