Oh! That X-3! I thought you meant three Bitfury hash boards. Yeah, that seems to have quite decent returns. Overall, a Jupiter available right now seems to still beat it though.
The Bitfury x3 shows ~20% profit from the figures I'm using, if you can get them. I checked last Saturday and Black Arrow was all sold out.

However I only have 6BTC ATM. If I can raise the funds, I may pull the trigger. The unkown it the price of coin in Feb/March and if they can deliver on time. I am also considering a used Knc for the right price.

I am considering by the Black Arrow x3 if I can scrape up the cash. It seem now with the increasing difficulty, you have to go big or go home. Have enough power to ROI in a couple of months or the diff will kill you.
Thanks for the reply. I've been doing some reading myself and it seems the Bitfury Controller uses the SPI interface on the Raspberry Pi hence it being required. The BeagleBone seems to have the same interface available and I prefer it over the Raspberry Pi except for the fact that the Raspberry Pi is what Black Arrow has been using for testing.
The r pi acts as a controller for the miner. Most miners are just a array ofchips (asics) and requires a computer of some sort. You could plug the Black Arrow/KNC and others, in o a regular pc and do the same. But you would be wasting power. They choose a Rpi or Beagle Bone, the Avalon basically has a router with modified firmware to run Cgminer, since they require very little power. I run my Pi on a old cell phone charger. Some gear like the Asic Miner blade have an on board processor and network interface and dont require a computer.
Why does the Black Arrow Bitfury require a Raspberry Pi? Can't you just connect it to the USB port of a PC?
